Best

Their Mexican food here is very unique and very DELICIOUS !!! I come here every once in a while and they already know my name and already know what I want to order! Great customer...

Worst

We were visiting the area from Maryland and went to dinner here since we heard they had good margaritas. My mother paid for the dinner with her credit card, the only time she use...

Good value 8/3/2011

I ate at Los Sombreros two evenings in a row with a colleague while in Tempe on business. We both had the carnitos with black beans, which was tasty, and satisfying margaritas. The portions are large and filling so make sure you're hungry. We ate outside in the courtyard, which was very pleasant. The second evening I got there at 8 p.m., sat at the bar and had the same meal again. Was very satisfied. The entrees are ~ $15-20; however, I found the meal good value. more

Never been disappointed 7/28/2011

This place is one of my favorite places in Scottsdale. The guacamole is awesome. Enchiladas de pollo and crab enchiladas are mouth watering, and the margaritas are first class. I've been here several times, and I have not been disappointed! more

Best Mexican in the area 7/28/2011

Excellent strawberry margarita. Best Mexican in Scottsdale. Awesome patio. Terrific atmosphere. Well worth it. I will definitely go back. more

Selection 7/8/2011

This place has one of the biggest selection of tequila I've ever seen! They make killer margaritas too. Good place to come eat and hang out on the patio. more

Bomb Food 7/8/2011

The margarita are bomb! My friends and I came here for a birthday dinner. The atmosphere was great and so was the food. We ended up having a blast. more

Coming Back! 7/7/2011

Margaritas and the Carnitas are out of this world! Went here with my girlfriend randomly just last week and we already have plans to go again next week. more

Mexican Night Out 7/7/2011

The patio seating was really nice and was a pretty nice for maybe a simple dinner date. The margaritas were strong but tastes good and the food was delicious. No complaints here! Will definitely come back again. more

Great Guacamole! 6/27/2011

Love this place. Get the guacamole. The puerco en chipotle is everybody's favorite. We go at least a couple times a month and bring out of town guests there who want a taste of the Southwest. more

Can't Wait To Come Back! 6/27/2011

It's a fairly small restaurant with plenty of character. The salsa was unique and amazing in taste. I ended ordering from the appraiser menu because I wasn't that hungry. I ordered the $10 tacos de carne asada. It tasted great and it actually filled me up. I can't wait to comeback and try more food here. more

Beware!!! Credit Card stolen & used by employee! 1/26/2010

We were visiting the area from Maryland and went to dinner here since we heard they had good margaritas. My mother paid for the dinner with her credit card, the only time she used the card while were in Arizona. The next day her credit card company called her and said that there were over $2000 in charges with various airlines, and the charges originated in Arizona. Well, put two and two together, and you get credit card fraud! Our lovely waitress with gold teeth (unless she had someone else who worked there run the card) gave my poor mother a great Thank You for the good tip we left her! AND, the margarita was not all that, my sister makes much better! Pros: pretty good food Cons: credit card # stolen by waitress, pushy servers more

great food 9/20/2009

everything I have seen and tasted was great. Service was solid. Their guacamole is excellent. I had the chipotle carnitas and really enjoyed it. Its easy to eat too many chips with salsa/guac Pros: best guacamole and carnitas Cons: small place more

My service was great! 11/30/2008

I'm not sure why some people seem to have problems with the service here. Not only was my service exceptional, It looked as if everyone else around me was being taken care of, too. I'm from the east coast, and certainly no expert on mexican food, but this restaurant was excellent. Don't expect your usual burrito joint, but rather high quality dishes which include a full spectrum of ingredients, not just tortilla wrapped items smothered in beans, rice, cheese and guacamole. I had a tamale appetizer better than I've ever had and a pork roast with a pumpkin seed mole-verde (sauce) which was very elegantly done. Also, the patio was every bit as nice as other reviewers have stated. Pros: Food, service, atmosphere. Cons: Price. more

Bad customer service & really bad Manager 9/10/2008

A close friend had suggested this restaurant. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! First off, we did not eat one morsel of food in this place, nor did we sit down. We walked in at 5:30 PM and there was NO ONE in the place except the staff. The bartender greeted us in a very friendly manner and then it went down hill from there. A young man guided me to the dinning area where two staff people were folding napkins. He gave me 2 options of tables to sit and when I chose the one I wanted he said they could not do that and the only option was at a table for 2, which they would be happy to add a chair for the third member of our party. Remember THERE WAS NO ONE IN THIS PLACE AT THIS TIME! Not to mention the fact 2 staff members were folding napkins inches from this table. I said no and waited for my friend, and took a business card so I could inform the manager of the problem. The young man came back and I asked to speak to the manager. When I walked into the dinning room, it became apparent that the manager was sitting there just around the corner the WHOLE TIME having a friendly conversation with someone else. She looked at me and said I told him, the young man, that you could sit wherever you like. Unfortunately, the manager said NOTHING TO THE CUTOMER and the young man never mentioned this IMPORTANT piece of information to my friends or me. Then the manager implied this was our problem. Of course, she never once got up off her butt to address us or even showed us the slightest bit of attention. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I felt bad for the employees but mostly for the owner for hiring such an INEPT MANAGER. more

best Mexican in Scottsdale 9/16/2007

This place has excellent margaritas, great food and a nice comfortable patio and atmosphere. I love this place! Pros: everything Cons: can't think of any (maybe a little more pricey than others, but worth it) more

Best Mexican In Scottsdale 3/6/2006

In a city known for Mexican food, Los Sombreros is one of the best in PHX. Blue corn crab enchiladas were stuffed to the brim with fresh blue crab. The housemade guacamole is served in a bowl in a ball shape and is about the size of a small head of lettuce. The green corn tamales are the best in the city. Portions are large. Most folks will end up taking home leftovers, especially if you dare order a starter. Pros: tamales, crab enchiladas, great bar more

User review by tammydh 1/20/2006

This was the worst service I have ever encountered at a restaurant. It was not just about how long we had to wait for service, but the hostess and waiter were extremely rude. The food was not good, and the menu was very limited. I would go anywhere else. Cons: service/food, seating, parking more

Terrible!!!!! 7/25/2004

This was the worst service and food I have had in all my trips to Arizona! The menu was small, which would be ok if not everything on it was disgusting. The service was some of the worst I have seen in years. They even charge $1.95 for extra chips (which also come with the smallest amount of salsa possible). There are so many good Mexican restaurants to eat at, don't waste your time and money here. Pros: location Cons: , food, price more

Charming and tasty too 5/11/2004

This is our favorite restaurant. It has the very best fresh lime margaritas in town. Very inovative and authentic Mexican food not to be matched anywhere. We like it best because its like mom and pop meet the swanky stylish restaurants of the big city. This is Scottsdales best kept secret even though it always seems to be busy. Don't expect crispy tacos and cheese melted on everthing. This is the real deal. Pros: ambiance, authentic recipes, friendly service Cons: , smallish more

Excellent! 6/12/2002

This is an excellent, high-quality Mexican restaurant, offering authentic Mexican food. Just like homemade! Everything on the menu is delicious; you can't go wrong. The mole is superb. Check out their periodic ""special dinners"" (e.g., Valentine's Day, Cinco de Mayo, etc.). This restaurant is one of the best in the Phoenix metro area and better than anything else in Scottsdale (and it's less expensive). Pros: Food, Service, Specials on menu more
