Longwood Gardens 12/24/2006

Longwood Gardens is what you might imagine based on its name. It is an expansive villa of gardens from around the world, with an emphasis on Christmas poinsettias through the main hall. If you like flowers, it is amazing. If you don't like flowers, it's still an ok place to check out if you go quickly. The lights are all outdoors, so you might want to steer clear of rain and extreme cold, although the lines tend to be shorter in bad weather. more

Amazing Gardens 2/8/2006

Longwood has meticulously manicured gardens. beautiful fountains and plenty of walking trails. It's a sight for the eyes, but a bit of a pain in the pocket book. There's a reasonable and quality cafeteria, along with a fancier restaurant. They have extensive indoor gardens too, including several greenhouses. They have floral arrangements throughout the year, and there's always something interesting. Pretty darn cool place, if you're even mildly into horticulture. more

Natural beauty in all seasons 2/5/2006

Longwood Gardens is a beautifully landscaped botanical gardens, conservatory, and estate located in Kennett Square, PA. Originally owned by the DuPont family, Longwood is a world-class horticultural center. LG has everything from organic gardening displays to hydroponic exhibits to a brand new children's garden. A ton of walking trails snake through the entire estate; I think my favorite part is the huge wildflower meadow at the back of the estate. Fountain shows synchronized to music are regularly occurring, and fireworks displays take place several times a year. During the summer, they also have a free concert series. The price of admission is a little expensive, but it's well worth it for an entire day at Longwood! more

Beautiful 1/17/2006

Garden upon garden of beauty. If you go to Longwood in the summer you'll be hard pressed to take it all in in one day. There are the outdoor gardens from formal gardens to woodsy meadows. Indoors, which are open year round, have tropical specimens and a children's garden. Enjoyable year round. more

Beautiful place, especially around the holidays! 12/1/2005

Longwood Gardens is a beautiful place to go any time of the year. In the spring and summer, they have exquisite flower displays and the best firewords I have ever seen. During the holidays, they have beautiful Christmas light displays and concerts. It is worth braving the cold for! The gardens also have evening classes for cooking and gardening. A lovely gift and garden shop is also on the premises. The price for admission is worth it; if you go often, buying a season pass is a good idea. more

What a beautiful place! 11/12/2005

Wow, this place was awesome. Longwood Gardens is great for everyone!! The kids loved the flower nursery. They had a little competition to see who can locate all the flowers on the card that was given to them.. Also, the water shows they had were amazing!! I would love to come here during the holidays to see it all decorated with christmas lights. Also, its an affordable place to take your family for a nice day trip. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, becasue their is a lot of walking . more

Beautiful gardens and greenhouses! 8/17/2005

We visited when spring was in full swing and we were blown away by the beauty of this place. You can walk forever and see new things at every turn. There were water gardens, azaleas, tulips and more. Inside we saw tropical plantings and orchids. Some of the most beautiful photos of plants my husband has ever taken were captured in the gardens at this amazing place. I was so impressed by the well manicured areas that each were so different from one another, we plan to go back at the end of summer to see what will be new and in bloom and to take in areas we missed the first time around. This place is huge! more
