I agree with Matt L. The place is a scam to anyone that goes there. It's filthy,overcrowded,short handed. They only care about your money. There not a hospital the doctor is only there Monday through Friday. If you need medicine on the weekend you either wait until Monday or go to galax hospital. They put you in a small room with 2 or 3 other patients some need mental help Badley. If your scared of them they won't move you to another room. There are no dressers if your lucky you might get a closet if not you live out of your suit case for your stay. Everyone uses the same showers after each other without them being cleaned. There is no security or privacy the patients steal off of you and they won't do anything about it. You have to clean your own room and change your own bed. New patients come in that need help and you have to help them they won't. They let me go for 3 days with nothing to eat because I shook so bad I couldn't feed my self. The only thing they can do is detox you from alcohol and opiates. People bring drugs in there all the time and sell to patients.IT IS NOT A HOSPITAL. more

It is obvious that your facility is simply a money making venture and not out to help people. My wife came to you because of your ability to do dual diganosis. Your call center stated that Galax would be great for her eating disorder, and your admissions counselors said the exact same thing. When we checked her into your facility no issue was brought up, and we found out the next day that you could not treat her psychological needs. Once your medical team found out that she had not been drinking and did not need detoxed, you chose to detox her from her ANXIETY MEDICATION that she NEEDS. Her doctor is just going to perscribe her the same exact medication when she comes back home. You are obviously searching for reasons to STEAL money from private insurance and government programs aka THE PEOPLE, and you should not be allowed to operate!\r \r There are currently 75-100 people in your facility and only four counselors available for rehabilitation. It is simply impossible for you to provide any sort of care for these patients. In addition to not being treated, there is absolutely no security at your facility. It is disgustingly dirty and not up to date. Patients can go out the door and get drugs right off of the street. It is very likely that your facility has more drugs coming into it than anywhere else in Virginia. Your online reviews for your facility are fake, and whoever did them was very obvious about it, using the same type of username and grammer for the posts. You should be ashamed of yourself for taking advantage of the government assistance and insurance.\r more

I entered The Life Center of Galax, completely broken and hopeless, quite near death and with little belief that I could be helped. Since alcohol is physically addictive, it is important for an individual wishing to end their addiction to do so under proper medical supervision in order to prevent dangerous health repercussions. The Life Center provided a treatment program that not only saved my life, but provided me with a foundation of recovery. As of now I am in my fifth year of continuous sobriety and I could not be happier. I attribute the dedication of the Life Center staff and the caring and competent manner in which they took more of me as the largest factor within my ability to recover from a previously hopeless state of being. more

The family program at Galax was so important to me in my recovery. It helped my family understand my addiction, our communication problems and what we need to do differently going forward. Without the support, involvement and understanding of my family, I would not be doing so well today. I recommend this program highly. more

Last year I lost my job and resulted to some depression. I got involved with drugs and alcohol which brought me to a park place. My family sent me to Galax where I was able to restore myself in many ways. The counselors are very kind, compassionate and caring. I am now living a completely sober lifestyle. more
