Great Pizza CRAPPY Service 10/1/2011

I love Lido's food... best pizza hands down... The waiter, on the other hand was just plain old rude. (He's looks like a taller Latino version of PeeWee Herman) I watched as the waiter hustled back and forth to surrounding tables being quite attentive... I mean checked on them every few minutes or so... walking right past our table to do so mind you. My family (party of 3) got little to no attention at all. I came to eat and enjoy. Treat my awesome child to an awesome meal. He TANKED the whole experience! I didn't want to think he was racist... but when you have a Latino couple (who also noticed our treatment & commented our situation) and a White family with a large group....(us in the middle) Who both received STELLAR SERVICE...kind of hard not to think of it. I asked for Tabasco (my one request) he said sure and walked away.... never came back in our direction until he returned to check on the tables besides us. I thought to myself, WOW... a real class act! Sad to see though. Hard to understand. I came to spend money... would have loved to get great service and give a great tip. Still trying to figure out if I am willing to spend $45-50 just to be treated like crap. Sad... real sad. more

BLAST FROM MY PAST 5/16/2010

Back in 1973 I was living in Van Nuys and made Lido Pizza a weekly stop for the meatball sandwich from heaven. I now live in Los Osos next to Morro Bay and was checking on line to see if Lido was still around. I am so glad to hear that they are still in business and based on the reviews I am reading here I am going to drive ther 4 hours south to have my meatball sandwich! Pros: Great Memories Cons: hope none more

Excellent Service, Yummy Food 3/25/2010

I took my son to eat here after it was suggested to us that we try it. So we went today for dinner and I must say, the place looks pretty hood, but it is really an awesome hole in the wall type place. The people working there are really friendly and the service is excellent! Our waitress was pretty awesome. =) We ordered the Ravioli & Spaghetti, some meatballs, the garlic bread, and a pepperoni and sausage pizza. The pizza was yummy and cheesy... the spaghetti was bomb! The ravioli was light, but tasty, the meatballs were well - meaty! LOL. And the garlic bread was pretty delicious. There were many different types of people there and the ambience is pretty relaxing. The prices are pretty decent too. I would definitely go back and would definitely recommend this place. (Already told my bro to go there!) Pros: excellent service Cons: parking more

Great food, rude waiter 12/19/2009

Well, we had a group of 12 people and maybe they don't like large groups at this restaurant. Everything went downhill when we asked for separate checks. The waiter's head about exploded. First, he said no, then said he'd do up to 4, which is what we wanted in the first place so we said great. He proceeded to shake his head and act put out and disgusted every time he had to turn the page on his order pad. Then the food came... delicious! I shared the eggplant parmesan and supreme pizza. Both were among the best I've had of those items anywhere. Then the check came... He had put 3 other orders on our check. Asked him to re-do it. Came back and our 3 orders totaled $120! I don't think so. He recalculated, came back... $94. When I told him it was still wrong. He rolled his eyes, said ""No, here let me show you."" (like I was some sort of idiot). Yes... please show me! Re- calculated (including the 18% tip he added on himself) ""Oh. It's $63."" Yes. A $30 discrepancy! Who's the idiot? He said ""That's why I don't do separate checks."" Oh. So you can calculate an order for 12 easier than an order for 3? Or do people not notice a $30 discrepancy on a larger bill? Too bad the waiter was so rude or it would have been a perfect dining experience even with the long waits. At least with a wait you know the food's coming out fresh! Pros: Food was great Cons: SUPER LONG wait for everything more

Best Italian food! 11/23/2009

Best food in town 8/22/2009

We've been eating at Lido's for a very long time, it's the only place I'll order lasagna because it's so very close to the way my grandmother use to make it. Took all my new in-laws there one night for dinner along with a couple from England who were visiting & everybody loved it. The homemade pasta, the rolls, the pizza is just the best anywhere in this valley! Pros: Great service great food more

Best Linguini and Clam Sauce 3/9/2009

We've been going to Lido's for over 30 years and we always have the Linguini and (white)Clam Sauce. It's the best in the States! more

family tradition 3/3/2009

my family has come here for years and has been in the pizza business. They know their stuff. Two thumbs up more

Nice Place 12/21/2008

The pizza is ok. It has ALOT of cheese! It is not the best pizza ever but it is pretty good. The Lido salad is the best! We LOVE that salad. It is highly recommended. It is a nice little sit down place. The service is not that good. We sat there for awhile before we were greeted and slow service inbetween. but overall it is a nice place and we might go back again. Pros: Lido Salad Cons: Little parking in dark area more

Good pizza, nice place, great specials 3/5/2008

This place has great pizza if you like gooey cheese - and I do! Pleasant, family place, very comfortable. Monday special is fantastic - and everything is reasonable at normal prices. Enjoy! Pros: Specials, pizza, canneloni Cons: Not great neighborhood late at night more

Great Pizza-- Watch The Check 12/25/2007

I grew up in an Italian Neighborhood, so I lived pizza-- and, since moving in 1978, I have made the ""Pizza Rounds"" in the Los Angeles area. I was devastated when Lugi's, Palermo's, on Yucca Street in Hollywood closed-- Sicilian and authentic. Still, Lido's pizza is the real deal, never a disappointment-- and, it's a lot closer to me than Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock-- and they have better hours, although Casa Bianca is still a cut above. Lido's cheese is high quality, and the pizza is perfectly baked, thin-crusted, and not over-salted like a lot of places. And their meat sauce is very, very good and non-acidic. Only complaint, ordered spaghetti and meat sauce with three meatballs, and was shocked to find a sticker price of $19.45 attached. I wouldn't complain normally, but no salad or soup, and it was not an unusually large portion. Hey, it's only pasta! I suggest the family value meals if ordering anything other than pizza. And for some odd reason, the staff let a kid play a video game at the dinner table, so I was bombarded with obscenities and simulated killing for an hour. Not a real smart move for a quiet Sunday afternoon. Pros: Good Service. Good Food. Not too crowded. Cons: Bar nearby so watch your parked car. more

Best pizza in Los Angeles 11/30/2007

I've been to Pizza Mozza, Casa Bianca, Pizza Rustica, Lamonicas, Rocco's, Village Pizzeria, you name it. But Lido's has the best pizza in Los Angeles, bar none. I had their pepperoni and sausage pizza, and it literally blew me away. Definitely recommended! Pros: Great great pizza Cons: Located in the Valley more

Reasonalby priced family restaurant, order anything, They'll bring it to your car!! 3/24/2007

I have turned many people on to Lido Pizza. I love the curbside service, order anytime after 5 pm and they'll bring it to your car!!\r I especially love the spaghetti with meat sauce. The pastas are all homemade!! The marinara is also yummy.\r The pizza is made to order (thick or thin crust) and they use cheese with a little bit of a smokey flavor, which is awesome. \r Service is always prompt and given with enthusiasm. You can tell people really like working there.\r I know people who have been going there for 30 years. LIterally.\r It doesn't look like much from the outside, but you will have trouble deciding what your favorite menu item is.\r They run lunch and dinner specials as well as Monday night family specials which are all a good value. Lunch and dinner specials are ""all you can eat"".\r Lunch is served with yummy sourdough dinner rolls.\r I drove by this place for years without a second look, thanks to a friend of mine who was not so snobbish and more adventurous. I had my first Lido pizza that day and have never looked back!\r Pros: Pizza made to order with smokey cheese, they bring it to your car! more

Delicious authentic italian food, big portions 1/16/2007

You can count on Lido's to have delicious food every time you go there. The homemade pasta is awesome! The meat sauce is really, really, tasty and fresh. They have wonderful hot rolls too, ask for a small side of meat sauce to dip it in---yummy!! Another great thing about Lido's is that the portions are BIG, so you always have leftovers for the next day. I actually think the pasta's taste better the next day! The service is good. I definately recommend this restaurant. Pros: Great meat sauce Cons: limited parking more

A 32 Year Family Favorite 5/5/2006

When my Parents came out here from New Jersey they needed a decent Italian restaurant. They found a great one in Lido's. The pizza sauce has a taste that keeps you coming back and so does the staff. Pros: Pizza, Salads, People Cons: Bad parking, no delivery, NO DELIVERY more

great food 6/26/2003

Lido's food is solid across the board. The meatballs, spaghetti sauce, rolls, etc. Not to mention the Pizza. The cheese they use is a cut above the rest. I've been going for 10 plus years and always leave full and content. I wish they would open a restaurant on the westside. Pros: house dressing, hot rolls, plenty of food Cons: limited parking more

Best pizza west of the Mississippi 8/13/2002

The best pizza west of the Mississippi! Being a native of New Jersey, and having experienced the 'best' pizza in the world, I have been on a quest since arriving in Los Angeles 20 years ago. By far, Lido's Pizza is the best for flavor, natural (gooey) cheeze, delicious toppings, and most of all, CONSISTENCY! I have been going to Lido's for 20 years, and the pizza is as good Today as the first time I ever tried it! I RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY IF YOU RESIDE IN OR VISIT THE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY! Pros: Large portions, Family atmosphere, Romantic Cons: Lack of parking, No delivery more
