On a friends recommendation we came by for a sunset glass of wine. The other reviewers said that it was pricy for what you get, and in my personal opinion you are paying for more than just the wine you are also paying for the ambiance. This place was absolutely beautiful. Very cute little court yard you walk through to get to the pool / dining area. more

Mark is an amazing chef...... but if i'm going to spend $25 on an entree, FEED ME!!!! A braised fish the size of my thumb, really??? Me and my date had to stop by Taco Bell on the way home for something, although not as classy or healthy, filling. and the attitude of the staff, especially in the spa, is what ken wilber (who's philosophy the Standard once tried to adhere to) would call "Mean Green". more

The place is awesome, the service mediocre; but...\r What's wrong with these people and the prices they believe they can charge, an average glass of wine $12 to $14!?!, a small average sandwich for $19!?! and they push their pricey specials too!!!\r Absolutely crazy, and on top of that you have to valet for, also, South Beach pricing.\r I would strongly recommend to people to restrain to waist their hard earned money in this place. more

Best Spa experience 6/29/2009

When you pull up you think the place has not been touched since 1969, but it is very updated, while still holding a 1960s chic. A friend and I went in the morning for a spa treatment. Due to an earlier black out and flooding (all across Miami) we were the only people there for the first hour. This gave us time to really explore the spa. It is clean, inviting, and has a variety of steam rooms, baths, showers, etc., that you can use with just a day pass. Both of our massages were one of the best we ever had. And, we have collectively been to some of the best, including 3 Mandarine Orientals (Bangkok, Miami, and Washington DC) this rivals even that. My favorite was the mud bath. Not for the light hearted as it requires you to be without your clothes outdoors. I would fly back down to Miami just for this spa! Pros: Great facilities Cons: Not near the beach more

great spa 8/26/2008

Great spa! Well located, easy parking (for South Beach, that is), friendly staff and great atmosphere. The Capoeira class is great! A must for the adventurous type. more

overlooked the ocean 5/12/2008

Stayed in the Wet room for 3 nights due to the deal I found at their website. The room was amazing, especially the outdoor terrace that overlooked the ocean. I've never felt so relaxed in my entire life. more

Completely inept service 9/15/2007

We are Miami residents and were really excited to spend a day at the Standard for my wife's birthday....What a drag, we should have stayed home and rented a movie instead. Not all was bad, the place is definitely uber-hip...but the spa service was tremendously disappointing. We're no strangers to massages and have been to a spa or two so when we read the articles and heard the buzz, we couldn't wait to go.\r \r Where to start...my parents bought a pedicure as a surprise present for my wife (they found out where we were going). I expected when we walked in that someone would let us know...didn't happen until we were checking out and I had to ask.\r \r The massages were ok, nothing phenomenal. My wife enjoyed her facial and I enjoyed lying in the Hamam.\r \r The worst part of the entire experience was the completely disinterested service. For most people, a vist to the spa is a special occasion and if nothing else, you should feel welcomed and comfortable. They completely missed the boat with this crucial detail. The desk staff were completely disinterested and incredibly blase.\r \r They were so distracted (and it wasn't busy) that a full two months later, they are still charging and crediting our credit cards because they forgot to charge us for one of our massages. They've charged us for the pedicure (which was already paid for by my parents)...then they credited us too much, then charged us again and today finally credited us and are still $12 off....all of this without the courtesy of a single phone call!\r \r Avoid it until the service gets a complete makeover...stick to the hype articles in the travel mags instead. Pros: Cool amenities like the Turkish Hamam Cons: Totally inept and unprofessional service more

Want to live there! 4/4/2007

The Standard is a fabulous hotel. Competitive rates for Miami. Skip the wet room and lay out at the pool or take in the spa services. Decor and ambiance is just right. Loved my stay there! more

sub-standard spa 10/28/2006

After checking out the web site, my sister-in-law and I got a day pass to check out the spa before booking a service. We were both disappointed. The gym is small with little equipment and the best features of the spa (the plunge pools) are outside, which is fine if it is nice out, but not if it is raining. The indoor spa features are limited, and felt dirty to me. Plus there aren't many ammenities. For example, there isn't water available to guests unless you buy bottled water. I would not recommend this place at all, and would be embarassed to take others there. Cons: everything more
