Best care in lexington 9/5/2009

This hospital is the only place in lexington where I can take my cat without him going crazy. The other 4 hospitals that I've gone to have had to prescribe medication to calm him down - I hate having to let him go through the stress of being around loud dogs who pee in the waiting area. I can't speak for the other comments here, but this is the best place to bring your cat. The techs know how to safely handle a cat WITHOUT grabbing him by the back of the neck like he's some sort of wild animal. Personally, I love the fact that every time I go there, I'm not getting bogged down with sales and "you need this super expensive medication" mentality because the doctor cares more about my cat than her pocket. They're not the cheapest in town, but with animal care, you get what you pay for. I am happy pay a little extra when I know he's receiving the best care this city can offer; hands down. more

Lexington Hospital for Cats is Outstanding 8/4/2009

Dr.Mills is indeed more expensive than other Vets, however she is a Specialist! I've owned cats for most of my forty-nine years and I have never encountered a more through Vet. On another note ex-employees have no business posting comments on this site. Don't like your job, leave it. I'm thoroughly impressed with her and her care of my four cats who range in age from 14 yrs. to 1yr. more

Not such a good place 2/24/2009

There's no sense in calling someone a liar. Nobody would go out of their way to write a review if the situation never happened. I worked for Dr. Mills and know for a FACT, first hand, that YES she is a great vet. She cares about all the cats that come into her hospital. But, she treats her employees as insignificant & disposable. I cannot count the times she has made me feel worthless, and has done so in front of customers. The reason there is always different staff when you go into her clinic is because everybody quits. She is truly is miserable human being and is very unprofessional considering the way she speaks to her employees while in the exam rooms. more

Be careful what you listen to 11/27/2007

I personally know NOTHING about the LHC (except for what one of my coworkers has said, which is that she LOVED that job), but if every single person posting majorly negative (a.k.a. she yells a lot) things is anonymous, I'm kind of wary. Also, anyone that attacks someone personally (she needs some sort of medication), isn't being very objective in how they rate the clinic. Maybe they had some sort of falling out? more

scary place 11/4/2007

what "careful" has posted is correct. the staff was entirely new every time i have went there and one of the employees said that the doctor is impossible to work for. the quality of care is compromised by the vet's emotional problems. i would not recomend taking a cat there. more

Careful 9/24/2007

Alice mills is indeed a good vet. My cat has seen her for years now.\r I have recently had to change vets on the grounds of the condition of herself her clinic and staff. Alice seems to be very upset and screamed at her employees multiple times during my visit. Her staff seemed very tense upon bringing my boy in for his annual shots and phsyical. I will not go back until she has calmed herself down. I do respect alice, but I think maybe a she needs to be on some type of medication. Maybe she is not handling her recent move to the new location well? more

Great place! 7/27/2007

Is anonymous representing a competing business? Or a disgruntled employee? I wouldn't take their reviews at face value.\r \r Lexington Hospital for Cats is a wonderful place to take your cat. The staff is patient, kind, and love educating people about how to properly care for their cat- they certainly don't expect every layperson to already have that knowlegde! Prices reflect the care of the animal, and are much cheaper than the emergency vet. Much! My nine cats have all been to LHC at one time or another and will continue to go there for care. more

I'm surprised to see negative comments. 7/9/2007

I was so enthused after my first visit at the Lexington Hospital for Cats. The staff is top notch with an undoubtedly genuine passion for what they do. Dr. Mills takes scrupulous care when it comes to running her business and training her staff. I am offered a discount on vet care at my place of employment, yet I choose to bring my cats to LHC because it is there that I know they will receive the best care. more

What? 6/19/2007

I don't believe anonymous's review for a minute. Dr. Mills is very gentle and good with the cats. I have never heard her raise her voice at all, or call a cat "horrible". No, the cats don't really like going there, but it is a VET, they aren't going to like being handled by a stranger and stuck with needles. Dr. Mills is very knowledgeable and dedicated to keeping your cats healthy. This vet's office is slightly more expensive than others but the personal attention and expertise makes it well worth it. I moved 30 miles away a few years ago but still travel to Lexington to go to LHFC, I think so highly of them. more

Dr. Mills is an excellent vet 5/8/2007

When I first had my Persian I lived in Chicago. Neither of the vets I took him to there recognized that he had an eye infection (I assumed Persians just always had goopy eyes.) I took him to Dr. Mills when I came to Lexington, and she realized immediately and gave me some cream, and he has been fine ever since. My cat is also a little hard to handle, but the techs here handle him great. I also was living out of the country with my cat for a little while and Dr. Mills corresponded with me about vaccinations and quarantines over email, which was extremely helpful!\r \r Expensive? Yes, this is not the cheapest vet in town. But I say it's worth every penny. more

Keep looking 4/22/2007

Keep on looking. The clinic is beautiful and the staff, for the most part, is very nice. The doctor, however ruins it. I took my cat there one time this winter, and will never go back! My cat acted perfectly for me and the technicians, but when the doctor came into the room, her rough handling and loud voice made my cat very upset (she hid under the bed for two days!). The doctor began to scream, I mean yell loudly, at one of the technicians, who finally just ran from the room in tears! Then, the doctor began to yell at me, saying that my horrible cat had completely ruined her day, and that she did not have time to put up with this. I should have walked out, but let her finish the exam and vaccinate my cat? all for the low, low price of $120!!! The staff had politely explained that my cat needed some teeth cleaning and flea control and stuff like that, they even gave me information to take home and look over. The doctor told me that I was irresponsible for not already knowing all thi more

This PLACE IS TERRIBLE! 2/26/2007

I took my cat in to get a checkup which, was abnormally expensive. I thought that the prices probably reflected the care and professionality of the staff, but I was sadly mistaken. The vet suggested I bring back my cat for a teeth cleaning. It was 25% off for the month of February and it still cost $125! I used to get my cat's teeth cleaned in Atlanta for $100. On top of this, they tried to push a "comfort package" on me for an extra $60. When I inquired into what this was, they said it was extra pain "management" for my cat. ABSOLUTELY INCREDULOUS! Shouldn't all the adequate pain management be included for $125?! And the icing on the cake was a demand to do x-rays to see if any teeth needed to be pulled($50). I stupidly consented only to find out that two teeth needed to be pulled and they conveniently "couldn't do it today." Every other vet pulls teeth WHEN cleaning if need be. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! more

An ok place to take your cat 9/5/2005

I took my cat to this place when he had trouble with his ears. Alice , the vet wanted to immediately do surgery on him. I wanted to wait to see if the medicine would work. The medicine worked and he got better and did not need the surgery. She got mad when i did not bring him in for the surgery. My cat didn't think to much of this place either. PROS: CONS: It can be very expensive. more
