My hairdresser recently moved away, so I was on the hunt for a new place. A friend suggested to see Sandra at Leon & Co, and I am forever grateful. I made an appointment to see Sandra and she did an amazing job. I didn't give her much direction but she knew exactly what I wanted and gave me quite possibly the best cut I've ever received. It's been almost a week since she cut my hair, and people at work are still raving about my new do. She was extremely friendly and attentive. I also loved that she gave me styling tips while she worked. I will be seeing her again next week to do my color. Tank you Sandra for an incredible salon experience! more

Colleen is so incredibly wonderful, I can't say enough good things. She has made me love my cranky curls, and for the first time in my life I have long hair! She is sweet, knowledgeable and gifted! The salon staff are unfailingly courteous, and the environment is fresh, cool and clean.I look forward so much to my appointments, when I get to sit and enjoy my capuccino and gossip magazine, while Colleen makes my hair shiny and beautiful. more

Today Coleen at Leon and Co. provided me with the best salon experience I have ever had! Aside from being genuinely friendly she was obviously knowledgeable about hair styling (her hair looked fantastic), and actually shared that knowledge with me by giving me styling tips that no other hair stylist had ever shared. She cut my hair expertly, and did exactly what I asked for. I have very fine long hair, and she did a great job giving it more volume. The blow dry was phenomenal too. The salon itself was upbeat and light with enjoyable hip music. I'm hooked and looking forward to going back. Just make sure to bring cash for tips, as they do not allow you to charge the tip. more

Less than 24 hrs. prior to my hair appointment I get a message on my answering machine that they will be closed for July 3rd, the day of my color and cut.. I made the appointment 8 wks. ago and no one called me before this. They claim they left a message before which isn't true because having an important event that evening, I would certainly have re-scheduled; try getting an appt. on a holiday weekend. They made no effect to remedy the situation they created. Fulya was my colorist there and she is very sweet, professional and does a great job. But Leon, the owner, cut my hair for the first time 2 months ago. What a waste of my time and money. He made absolutely no effort to be pleasant. I sat there like a fool with my hair hanging in my face while he had a frivolous chat on his cell phone. No apologies for making me wait, didn't bother showing me the back of my haircut. I have been happily coming to Leon and Co. for the passed two years. My stylist Amanda does a wonderful job and also cuts my son and daughter's hair. Even though the salon was very busy and the temperature of the water at the sinks were inconsistent, my appointment today was enjoyable thanks to the light-heartedness of my stylist and the salon's upbeat vibe. It's a great place for me to be if I am having a bad day. Amanda is very sweet and interesting. It is great to come here and chat or just relax and read a magazine. I have been trying to find a stylist that can give me color, highlights and a great cut that compliments my features. My friend told me about Fulya at Leon and Co. Fulya took the time to listen to what I wanted and also gave me some great recommendations. I was a little bit nervous since it was my first time there but she made me feel comfortable by explaining what she was doing every step of the way. Fulya was very sweet, professional and confident. I was so happy with how my hair turned out and I've been getting a lot of compliments. The highlights are the best I've ever had, can't wait to go back! At first, I was taken away by the clean charming salon. Of course I was expecting an up-to date , "hip" new style. (looking for achange). After reading the great reviews on Colleen, I decided to take my chance. I was extremely impressed. Using her creativity and artistic abilities Colleen gave me exactly what I was hoping, a beautiful new style. Along with my great new look, Colleen also provided great insight on my life. I cancelled my weekly therapist!!! Colleen knows everything abou everything! Now, allll are my friends are trying to get appointmens with Colleen after seeing my new look. However, I did have a bad experience with the coffee at Leon and Company (gas for days) If you go to Leon and Company go to colleen. I also heard that Amanda was also wicked awesome. The only good thing I can say is I wanted to get in for an appointment and I was able to get one that afternoon. Do I ever regret it. The woman who cut my hair (Fulya) butchered my hair. I should have gotten up half way through. She was taking her scissors and sort of just chopping at my hair - no rhyme or reason. My 8 year old son would have done the same thing. When I got home and washed my hair and saw what she'd really done to it, I was beyond angry. On top of this, the hair washes are dirty - there is color left over everywhere. This was such a COMPLETE disappointment. I'm usually the most easy going person with hair - it grows back after all. But this time - DO NOT GO HERE. And do not go to this woman. I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about - but this is so substandard I can't even articulate it. The only reason I am able to do anything with my hair is because I cut it myself when I got home. Terrible. Pros: Fast appointment Cons: Everything else, and I'm not even kidding more

Several colleagues of mine go to Dmitri and highly recommend him. I haven't seen him, but I have gone to Colleen twice now and both times was very pleased with the color (partial foil with two different tones) and cuts, as well as her service: she listens, "interprets" well (like many people, I struggle sometimes to find the exact words to explain what I'm looking for in a cut), and makes pleasant and intelligent conversation with you if want to chat, and respects your wish for peace and quiet if you don't. One time that I needed a cut and color fast, though, I tried to get to see her and she was booked, so I took an appointment with Sandra, whom I subsequently came to refer to as The Hostile Lithuanian. (My paternal grandmother was half-Lithuanian; I have nothing against Lithuanians in general, just this one in particular.) She was stony-faced, even surly, through the cut, and made zero attempt at engaging in pleasantries. When I asked her, very politely, if she could take more off my bangs, she acted very defensive--she said something along the lines of "Well you said you wanted it like this. Is this not what you want--you have changed your mind?" Then, when she was blow-drying my hair, she burned my scalp and I jerked forward instinctively to avoid the pain. Not a big deal--I have burned myself sometimes drying my own hair--and I didn't make a big deal of it. I expected her to say something like: "Oh, I'm sorry about that." I would have smiled at her, said, "Oh, that's OK," and we would have moved on. But instead of apologizing, Sandra got very defensive and several times commented: "I have never had a customer react like that before. That's so unusual; you are the first customer I have ever had who acted that way. I have never had a customer tell me she has been burned. This has never happened to me before. How extraordinary... " In other words, it was MY fault; *I* was the one who erred in some way!!! I was so happy to get out of her chair! I gave her a decent tip (about 10%) and a polite thanks, but I couldn't wait to get away from her. I have to say that her cut was quite competent; it's grown out nicely, which for me is always the test of a decent haircut. But her bizarre approach to customer service, even allowing for different cultural norms about smiling and small talk, made the whole venture quite unpleasant. I'm going to see Colleen tomorrow and I fully anticipate a great cut and color -- and a positive customer experience with a pleasant and talented professional! I had a cut, color and foil done by Amanda at Leone & co. in Belmont center and have to say it was perfect. Amanda took her time and really seemed to understand what it was that I wanted.... She is friendly and proffessional and made it all about the customer .... I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to go to only the best you feel like your at a day spa.......... more

I just returned from my second visit to Leo and Co and will never go anywhere else. First of all, everyone is so unbelievably friendly and they make you feel as if you've been invited into their living room. The atmosphere is totally relaxed and unpretentious. I go to Sandra - who is amazing! It had been 3 months since my first visit and she remembered everything that we had discussed - probably because she actually listens and engages you in conversation. When I got my hair cut and highlighted the first time I received so many compliments that I had to go back. I never know what to say when I walk into a salon and just mumble something about "you know whatever you think is best," and of course, I never get what I want. When I said that to Sandra she asked questions to discover what was important to me, and then gave me her recommendations. She took my color from a horrible blonde I had received at another salon to a beautiful, natural honey color. She convinced me to go shorter and a little sassier with my cut and my hair has never looked better. So I say to all of you, without hesitation... go see Sandra she is best in the salon with color !! more

First time to Leons, amazing experience. My daughter referred me to Colleen, she was great. Colleen fixed my color and cut. I am so pleased with the end result! Happy with the whole experience. I was unable to see her in one visit, I had to get the cut one day and returned for color a few days later. Glad I did! The other stylists seemed nice too, they all seemed like they enjoyed working there. If your looking for a salon, go and enjoy the experience for yourself! You will be happy you did! I fly from Chicago to get my hair cut by Leon. He is the best. I have tried so many high end hair salons in Chicago and finally switched back to Leon & Company (I used to live in Boston 25 years ago). Now, I go only to Leon. He is extremely talented and is the only stylist who has taken the time to understand that I do not like to fuss with my hair . He knows how to cut my hair in such a way that I do nothing but let it air dry and it looks awsome - as though I had worked on it! I've received so many compliments on my hair since I started going back to him. I can't say enough good things about Leon! Wow! I'm surprised by the reviewers that have said they found the staff snobby.. That's a shame .I have been going to Leon for years and have never found that to be the case. I have always had the total opposite experience. I have never left the salon unhappy and I'm not easy to please . Leon cuts my hair and have used various others in the salon to color my hair. Dimitri does an excellent job on the color and he is fun to talk to. Each one of the stylists is as thorough as the next. Once or twice over the years I have tried another salon only to regret it BIG TIME!! I don't trust anyone but Leon to cut my hair now. He and his staff are by far the best around. My first time in Leon and Co. I knew I wanted a new look. I booked with Colleen because I've heard such wonderful things and they were all true. I got a cut and color and I look wonderful! She explained everything and made me feel so comfortable about the new look and she even made sure I knew exactly what I need to do at home i.e. what products to use and techniques, to look this great everyday. She was just a sweet-heart and wonderful and very very talented. I'm happy to have found her. more

After being away from this salon for about 5 years due to a location change , I recently returned. Jay Dee is my colorist/stylist. My color has never looked so great! My hard to manage curly hair is not easy to style and she does a great job. Highly recommend. more

The finished product was outstanding. However, a heavy set blonde girl working the front desk was making sny remarks about my attire to another worker. I was very embarressed. Was it their intention for me to hear these remarks is questionable, but the rudeness and unprofessionalism is not. A high-end salon should not feel like a high school cosmotolgy class. This experience was a horrible one for me. Although the salon looks nice, the pompous attitude is uncalled for. It's as if the price of the services allow for the attitude of the stylists to be 'better than that' to the point that they 'hand you off' to an 'understudy' for what they deem the small stuff. I have never been so disappointed in the service at a 'nicer' salon ever. While the stylist was friendly enough, I left with the feeling that I had been a bother, and that she'd sooner be doing someone else's hair.
