I went to Legacy urgent care because they are listed as my primary care physician now because the primary care physician I had for three years lost his license. I have had severe back pain for over two years. I have been trying to find out the source of that back pain for just as long. For the past year I have been getting treatment for a very large kidney stone. I have been on pain medication this whole time because of the pain. I was told by my urologist to wait until we get rid of the kidney stone until I go see someone for my spine. Well the stone is pretty much all gone now, and I still have very bad pain. So I did as I was supposed too and went to see my primary care physician about the pain, and getting a referral to a spine doctor. I was told they could only prescribe a small amount of pain medication. I was fine with that as long as I got the referral for pain management and the spine doctor. I would like to find the source of the pain, not just cover the pain with medication. Well I returned to Legacy today with my MRI results(still have not gotten the referral for pain management). Dr. Knauff came in the room, and I explained what I had been going through for the last two years. He then berated me about the pain medicine I had been on for so long.(like it was my fault). He said"" If the pain has been so bad so long, how come you are just now asking to see a spine dr.""? I told him I had asked both my primary care physician and kidney dr in the past and they told me to wait because the source of the pain might be the stone. He then said my MRI showed nothing. I started crying at this time because I know something is wrong, and I can feel my back grind, and the pain is so bad. Well I had another doctor read the report and he told me the MRI says there is a small problem, oh, and it happens to be right where my pain is. Back to the visit... He said that they could not be my primary care physician because they didn't have the same beliefs as my previous doctor. I could not understand this. Dr. Knauff is automatically assuming because my last doctor gave out heavy medication to many of his patients that all his patients just want medication. I told him I want to find out what the problem is and fix it. I am not that old, and I don't think I should have to be in pain the rest of my life. Dr. Knauff is a horrible dr. and person. I'm sure he would not let anyone in his family suffer the way I do. He should be ashamed of his assumptions, and ashamed of not taking my medical complaints serious.
Pros: no wait
Cons: Dr. Knauff's unprofessional assumption
