I'm sad to see this business go down the hill. I have been a customer for over 20 years....back when I had to get my dance shoes dyed by you all. I moved to NYC years ago and would still bring my shoes in to be fixed when I would come visit my family in NC. I brought a boot in to have the zipper replaced on Nov 19th, 2012. Charlie told me it would take 2 weeks to fix it. Two weeks later it still was not fixed. When I returned home for Christmas on Dec 20th it STILL was not fixed. I just got off the phone with Charlie today (over 2 months later than when I originally dropped my boot off) and my boot is fixed, but he still wants me to pay full price. He said that he is overwhelmed and that many shoe repairs have closed and he has all the overflow work. I felt like he should have been more honest and informed me of that when I originally brought my boot in, instead of telling me 2 weeks when he knew he was overwhelmed. I could have taken my boot with me back to NYC to have it fixed sooner. Even though he apologized for telling me 2 weeks and it taking 4 times that, he refused to offer a discount. He basically told me that I could take my shoes somewhere else from now on. I'm sad that Charlie didm't feel it was appropriate to discount me when he did not deliver in even close to the original timeframe. A simple 20% off....$4...would have been a good faith gesture. $4 was more important to him than having me continue to be a customer. I'm sad that things have come to this. Also, a pair of patent leather pumps that I dropped off at the same time where scraped on the side when having the tap replaced. I sure hate his father retired. Don't expect the same service you used to get here if you have been a long time customer.
