So Thankful 11/7/2011

I can't say enough kind things about this dental office!!! I totally would recommend this office to anyone and everyone. I was terrified to go to the dentist because of a bad experience as a child. The dentist and her assistant talked to me about everything before they even looked in my mouth. I have sent my mom and 3 kids to Dr. LeCann and they said the same thing I did. My son is autistic and loves seeing Dr. LeCann. I am so thankful I found them! more

Two Thumbs Up! 11/7/2011

I found this office on google. I had a toothache and needed a cleaning. The person I spoke to when I called was very good at getting me in the next morning. I had called around to other offices and they couldn't see me for 3 weeks!! When I went to this office, I got my teeth cleaned by Amy , who was super thorough. Dr. LeCann was nice and explained a lot of different things I could do to get my mouth in better shape. She's easy to talk to and didn't make me nervous. The person who took my xrays was very cool too. I had no problems going back and getting my cavities filled . Two thumbs up! more

Disappointed 9/2/2011

Very upset with their dental care since Dr Cobham left. Now I understand why she is no longer partner with La Conn (name says it all). Don't trust dentist or staff, it's a sham! They overcharge patients do horrible work and milk the medicaid system.. All about money and ripping people off. Must be getting desperate since clients are leaving. Exactly one year ago I had crown work completed paying over 1k out of pocket, after medicaid covered the "build up fees. The other day the crown comes out. I call for an appointment to have them glue it back in my mouth. They wouldn't even look without wanting to charge me $100.00 to x ray one tooth, not including the "exam". I left and told them I will have my records sent to another dental office. Several dentists here in Raleigh area are worthless. I've gone to several, ended up in emergency room with one. The others are a joke especially if you have medicaid. They make phony claims and rip off the government. I can write a chapter to a book with bad experiences. Save yourself a trip....don't go La Conn. more

Wonderful Experience! 4/15/2011

First time I had been to the dentist in 10 years because I was so afraid. Dr. Lecann was so understanding and offered sedation. I came back for 2 visits and I was asleep the entire time. I am so grateful I found her. more

Invisalign Rocks! 3/22/2011

I had braces as a kid, but my teeth kind of drifted over time. Dr. LeCann recommended Invisalign to me, and it really has made a difference! I can't believe how easy it is to use, and it's not even noticeable! more

Awesome Experience!!! 10/5/2010

I had not been to a dentist in years because of a bad experience as a child. Everyone was so kind and so gentle. They explained everything they were doing which made me so at ease. I had to have a tooth pulled because it was infected. The dentist was wonderful!!! She was the best dentist I have ever been to. She took her time and talked to me about all the work I needed to have done. I wish I had found her sooner. more

Great Experience and Gentle Doctor! 11/2/2009

I switched dentists this year because my friend at work said Dr. LeCann's office was great. I went there for a routine cleaning and was very impressed!! Dr. LeCann was very nice and took her time to explain things to me. I had always wanted braces and she answered alot of questions about invisalign for me. Her hygienist was very good and thorough. I wish I would have found this office a long time ago!! Pros: Kind staff, Great dentist, close to where I live Cons: none more

FABULOUS DENTIST 12/1/2008

Wow!!! What a great experience. I haven't been to the dentist in about 5 years, needless to say I was very nervous. When I got there the front desk lady was so nice and had such a cheery disposition and was smiling and it made me feel very comfortable. When I got back there the assistant took xrays on me so they could see what I needed to have done. I have never dealt with dental insurance before so I was was a little leary about how it was all going to work. After looking at my xrays the dentist came in and let me know all the work I needed done. Dr. LeCann was very nice and informative she took her time with me and answered all of my questions. When I was done and was walked back up front the lady at the desk went over all the charges for me and how my insurance worked. It was very informative and they are even going to do estimates for me and I was approved with their payment plan. I am actually looking forward to getting my dental work done there. I will finally have a nice smile for my Christmas pictures. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this office they are so professional and know their stuff. Pros: GREAT STAFF, VERY KNOWLEDGABLE, ALWAYS SMILING Cons: NONE more

Nice office, great staff, gentle dentist 11/4/2008

I went to North Hills Family Dental Care after hearing about how wonderful they are from a friend I work with. I moved to the Raleigh area about a year ago and just kept putting off finding a new dentist. The staff at this office are great. The person who checked me in was very nice and told me alot of stuff I didn't even know about my insurance. The dentist and hygienist took a lot of time to go over what I needed to get done and made sure they showed me where my cavities were. I've been back for two of my visits with Dr. LeCann and she is very gentle and explains everything she does. I've made sure to thank my friend at work for telling about this office! Definitely recommend going here. Pros: Nice staff, gentle dentist Cons: none more

Super Hygienist! 10/28/2008

I really liked my hygienist, she was very thorough and took her time with me...I don't think I've ever had such a good cleaning. Everyone was really nice. Pros: Great Staff Cons: No street sign - more

GREAT DENTAL OFFICE!!!! 10/15/2008

I went to this office because I liked that they advertised for sedation dentistry. I hadn't been to the dentist in a long time because I'm scared of dental procedures like alot of people. The staff was very friendly and easy to talk to. They had my xrays and cool pictures of my teeth on a computer in the room I was seen in so I could see where the cavities were in my teeth. The dentist came in after they cleaned my teeth and went over my treatment and even took the time to explain more things to me. I've always wanted whiter and straighter teeth but have been too scared of going to the dentist so I've been putting it off. I'm so glad I found Dr. LeCann's office because they are very nice and thorough!! I am relieved to know I have a place that makes me feel comfortable enough to get my dental work done. Pros: Friendly staff and very thorough Cons: none more

Shaddy dentist office---Billing, Office, Dentist Horrible! 9/11/2008

I am fearful of dentists so I was searching for a dentist that does sedation. Saw their website and THOUGHT this place sounded perfect. Once there I did not get a good feeling.Dr. LeCann saw me and told me I needed to see an endodontist to have a root canal. She wanted to send me to a endodontist in Cary because "she's a woman and good". Another dentist is doing a filling on the same tooth. I had the first appt of the day and people (I later learned were the hygenists) are just looking at me sit in the office while they drink their morning coffee. The same guy whom I watched have his coffee came in to take my x-rays. he was nice, but I think very inexperienced as he took more x-rays than usual. When I inquired about why so many x-rays, he explained that I had a large mouth (which I don't---I'm missing 4 major teeth due to braces) and that he missed them on the previous x-rays and needed to take them again. I was under the assumption that this office did everything from their website. That's when LeCann informed me that she doesn't do root canals and gave me info on one in Cary. The funny thing was before I came to her she knew I had already seen an endodontist in Raleigh. I think they must refer patients to one another or something...probably some kind of business deal. I asked if they would do a preauthorization to find out what my insurance company would pay for and while I am trying to be helped, I am constantly being cut off so the girl at the front desk (who does the billing and explanation of services) can answer the phone and check other patients in. Today I got my EOB for the services they performed on my first visit and as expected, my BILLING is WAY WRONG. When I contacted my insurance company the customer service rep was speechless about the billing method. In all, I am glad that I went with my intuition on this and got help elsewhere. BE WARNED. I read the ratings after the fact which is why I was happy about my decision. Cons: Terrible Billing, Staff inexperienced more

North Hills Family Dental BEWARE if you have Medicaid!!! You will lose your teeth!!! 9/4/2008

I had been going to North Hills Family Dental for about a year using Medicaid. Everyone that posted prior to me are absolutely CORRECT!!! My prior dentist retired after I had been to him for 30 years. NEVER had a problem with fillings and once NHFD got ahold of my teeth, all of a sudden I had to have ALL of my teeth (top, front) filled. They drilled them out and put in tooth colored filling, now it's a year later and my fillings are coming out. I brush my teeth 2xday and floss. I no longer have Medicaid and they do not warranty ANY of their work. I always felt like they rushed and did not take any time to REALLY examine my teeth. Unfortunately, I can't afford to have their mess-up fixed and am starting to lose my teeth from the decay left by fillings coming out. I do not recommend anyone going to this dental practice!!!! That's the key word.....practice, because they really don't seem to know what they're doing!!! Cons: Shotty dental work, uncaring staff, KMART Dental School Graduates more

Don't use this dentist! 8/7/2008

This place is terrible. It looks nice but from my experience it's just a money mill. I got the impression they are cranking out patients as fast as they can just to make money and are not concerned at all with quality of care. I had a lot of work done (over $3k) and not only did they screw up my bill but did not even put my crowns on correctly. My girlfriend goes there also (although not any longer) and they have screwed up her billing more than twice, overcharging, charging for work not done, and even performing unauthorized work on her son and then trying to bill her for it. The only good thing I can say about them is they knocked me out completely ( I am terrified of the dentist and use sedation). I would not send my worst enemy to this place. Pros: The properly sedated me Cons: Cramped office, inaccurate billing, shoddy service more

Heed the warnings! It will save you money and pain!!!!!!! 8/1/2008

Thankfully I read these reviews after my initial appointment and was spared. I hope you do the same. I, like the previous reviewers, believe this dental office is trying to take advantage of medicaid patients and assumes that their patients would not know any better about their own dental care. I also believe that they have no fear of abusing the system because they believe that their patients will have no means of getting a second opinion if their patients feel something is wrong. I was also told, like several other reviewers, that I had four cavities. I also had a hole on the side of one of my molers which I had to point out to them because they didn't even notice. I was told that the only thing they could do was extract the tooth. I had never had a cavity in my life. I had my teeth sealed in high school. They scheduled an appointment to fill in my cavities and told me that extraction of my moler would cost $925. I knew something was wrong so I had another dentist look at my teeth and xrays. He said I had no cavities, only deep grooves which he would seal again, and the hole was not so bad that it needed to be extracted. He said it could easily be filled. I have also reported this to the dental board. It is such a shame that they can not make money the honest way and instead subject patients to unneccesary treaments and pain to over bill medicaid and all other types of insurances. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!!!! THEY ARE CROOKS!!!!!!!! Your family deserves better no matter your current economic situation. more

run! 5/20/2008

I visited this dentist and was told that I had many cavities and needed my wisdom teeth removed. I was referred to the only oral sureon that they deal with which was Dr. Won. Dr. Won inevitably severed the nerve in my mouth, and I no longer can feel on one side of my chin. I believe that both dentists take advantage of the Medicaid patients that they help. I have sincfe reported the incident to the Dental Board, and I would suggest anyone who has had a bad experience with either one of these dentists to do the same. No one will ever no that they are not good dentists if you don't let the dental society know ( the people who are trained to look into this kind of behavior). I have since seen another dentist and was told that the cavities did not exist. more

receptionist very rude 3/14/2008

The receptionist is very rude. I just tried to make an appointment for a cleaning. Somehow the whole conversation got out of hand and she ends up telling me that me and my family are not welcome at North Hills Dental anymore and hangs up on me. So far I didn't have any problems with them as far as care is concerned but I guess I'll have to look for a new dentist now.... more

Go elsewhere 1/25/2008

I decided to change dentist after one treatment there. The staff (other than the receptionist who is friendly and seems to care) seemed distracted or bored. After my cleaning I was made to wait for 30 minutes for the dentist who determined after she got there that I didn't need to wait for her. Not to mention the dentist (a female) kept calling me "honey" and 'sweetie" which was very annoying. Overall I just didn't get a good feeling here and went to see another dentist at another practice and realized instantly that I wanted to be at their office and not North Hills Dental. more

disappointed with dentist 10/23/2007

(This is my first time writing a review, so apologies if it's too long) Dr. LeCann?s hygienist was great and very nice, but I was extremely disappointed with LeCann and some of her office staff -- mostly because when I scheduled a tooth repair, I wasn?t told it would cost me $500 that day, on top of insurance. The whole experience wasn?t good: 1.) When the hygienist was done with the cleaning, we waited for LeCann for a long time. So long that the hygienist checked three times and seemed nervous that LeCann was taking so long. 2.) When LeCann finally came in, she didn?t apologize for the delay. She rushed through things and quickly went through a list of procedures/repairs using medical jargon. The only time she slowed down and had a real conversation with me was when I asked about cosmetic bonding to lengthen two of my front teeth. She said I should get Veneers, which are very expensive. I said I would think about it. 3.) When I checked out, a woman at the front desk wanted to schedule me an appointment to start the repairs. I looked at the list of repairs and was completely surprised: at least three fairly big tooth repairs (I?ve had very few problems with my teeth; only a few cavities); an expensive teeth whitening, which I never even asked about; and a full set of Veneers, something I NEVER said I wanted. 3.) I agreed to schedule the appointment for the first tooth repair, but said I wanted the teeth whitening and Veneers removed from the list. She said she couldn?t do that. 4.) THE WORST was that I wasn?t told the procedure I made an appointment for would cost me, out-of-pocket, $500 ? on top of what insurance covered. Luckily, an office staffer barely mentioned it in a phone message reminding me of the appointment. At the end of her message, after saying something like ?see you soon,? she said: ?Oh, and $500 will be due that day.? I cancelled the appointment. I will not go back to Dr. LeCann. I don't think she or her office handled things well Pros: nice hygenist, nice office staff Cons: dentist; while scheduling appointment, not told about $500 cost more

Beware of this dentists associate, Dr. Torres 12/21/2006

I do not know specifically about all of the dentists in this practice, however, I have had a dental exam by Dr. Karen Torres, Dr. Cobhams associate. I do NOT recommend Dr. Torres. She told me I needed three fillings. I went to my old dentist to pick up xrays and told my hygenist that I was going to a new dentist for fillings and I was told to get a second opinion as there was no decay in my teeth just six months prior. I went for my fillings appointment and asked Dr. Torres was she sure there was decay and she said she didn't know until she got in there to drill. I ended up leaving the office before I got my fillings to get a second opinion that same afternoon. I was told I had no decay by a very highly regarded denstist in Raleigh who has been practicing for over 40 years. Two days later I went to another dentist and was told the same thing, there is no decay in my mouth. Dr. Torres obviously is just trying to make a buck and fill people's teeth when there are no cavities. What she saw was stain on my teeth in a groove. I got a letter from the practice saying I would no longer be able to be seen at N. Hills Family Dentistry. Do not be seen by doctor Torres or you may get your teeth drilled for no reason other than to put a buck in the dentists pocket. Pros: None worth mentioning Cons: Digital xrays which can't be read very well when taking to another dentist, poory trained dentist(s) more
