Amazing wedding destination 5/15/2012

I recently had my wedding at the Lazy H Ranch, and was amazed by the entire experience. The grounds are beautiful and the site has lots of event parking. The food from the restaurant was amazing, and their newly renovated Bridal room was beautiful and accommodated me as well as my nine bridesmaids while we got ready. The wedding coordinator (Valora) associated with the ranch was amazing and helped us through the entire process. I would highly recommend this site to anyone looking for an amazingly beautiful and stress free outdoor wedding. more

Can't wait to go back 9/14/2011

From the moment we drove up, our blood pressure began to go down. What a relaxing two days. \r The motel is quaint, and exactly what you would expect from a building built in the 20's. But, we didn't spend much time in the room. But instead, spent hours on the front porch, surrounded by banana tree's (that had banana's on them). The property was meticulously maintained. Beautiful grounds with citrus tree's and flower's growing everywhere. The only thing missing was a hammock under the tree's. \r \r The restaurant was amazing. Great service and wonderful food. We didn't know what was best... the prime rib, or the lamb chops. The margarita made from the lemon's grown on the property was also very good. \r \r We can't wait to go back more

Quaint, Charming, Delightful 10/25/2010

OK, first things first. If what you are looking for is first-rate modern amenities, this is not the place for you. There's no internet, the whole place shares one iron, and when we wanted to call the front desk we realized that there was no phone in the room either (though, inexplicably, there was a phone book). Why 4 stars, then? Easy. Despite all of that, the experience was great! The Lazy H Ranch is tucked into an area surrounded by tree farms, citrus orchards and Reservation casinos. The motel portion was built in the 1920's, and the new owners have been slowly renovating. They bit off a lot in purchasing the property, but they've got all buildings re-roofed. The beds were inviting and comfortable, the bathrooms clean and the water hot. Now, all of that said, it was definitely NOT new. Our room (the double) had two patios, with chairs, tables, a chaise lounge, etc. The pool, from our vantage, looked spacious and like it would be enticing on a warmer day. The property was gorgeous. Large lush grounds, nestled in a small canyon, spotted throughout with fruit trees. As we checked in, we looked out the window to the sight of MANY dozen humming birds sharing feeders just outside the bar. Captivated, we sat at the bar, asked if they had a specialty drink of some sort (we'd read about the martinis), and were told that they made a house margarita out of meyer lemon juice from the trees lining the entrance drive. We ordered two, then two more, then went back to share one more! (The next day, back in LA, there was serious discussion about planting our own lemon trees). We followed up the margaritas with a plate of delicious littleneck clams in a white wine butter sauce. Another group sitting a few feet from us were served fantastic looking plates of prime rib and duchess potatoes (which they raved about). Now, given their 'off the beaten path' location, and the fact that the casinos all around have mighty buffets, the restaurant isn't open for breakfast. We ambled into the Pauma Casino, didn't think a whole lot of the buffet-- s'allright, but not our cuppa-- and ended up having the best shrimp burrito ever (as well as a damn fine carne asada breakfast burrito) at a dive mexican place just up the road from the hotel (Jilbertos is, I think, the name of the place). It is about 3 minutes from the Harrah's Rincon Casino, and was a third the price when we went to book our last minute room. So, if you're going to a show at the Open Sky Theater, or just looking for an interesting getaway in a beautiful area at a great price, put the Lazy H Ranch on your list! more

Absolutely horrible motel, ok restuarant 9/8/2009

Ok - so we knew it was cheap and that we shouldn't expect much. We had previously driven by and were told the restaurant was great and that the new owner had refurbished. The restaurant was ok - pricey for what it was - but the martini was nice - very cold. But the room - OMG!! Tacky, cheesy furnishings, awful mattress - deep valleys on both sides, mattress was less than a foot off the floor. And the worst - ants covered the headboard and the top of the bed when we arrived. The owner/manager seemed less than caring - said he had no more rooms and kind of shrugged. He agreed to spray after a young employee suggested spraying, vacuuming and airing out the room. After spraying there was an errant ant here and there, but nothing we couldn't deal with. The next morning however was another story. The ants were back with a vengeance - thousands and thousands of ants - covering the bathroom floor. We spent about a half-hour and every towel trying to get rid of them - the motel office was closed and no one was anywhere to be found to help us. When I called the next day to speak with the owner/manager he informed me that with only 7 rooms he couldn/t afford to have an employee there all the time (what about him?). He also suggested that if I had really had a problem I should have called 911!! Never again. This man has a cute property that has potential. But he's another story. An I-don't-care attitude never works in the hotel business. Has he never heard of his responsibility to his guests? It doesn't pay at all for an innkeeper to let any guest leave as unhappy as we were. Pros: great martini at a great price, hummingbirds everywhere Cons: awful motel - flophouse style mattress, and ANTS everywhere! more

Amazing Service, Quiet Place 3/1/2007

My friend and I were recently driving to a concert @ Pala Casino from Las Vegas. We decided to stop and rent a room to take a nap at the Lazy H Ranch. The place is adorable. We had such a great time. The most amazing and friendly staff. One of the best dirty martini's I've ever had, simply wonderful. We had such a delightful time. They made every effort to ensure that we had a great time. I definitely recommend the food, especially the fruit. :) We can't wait to go back! Pros: Great Atmosphere, Friendly Staff more
