The folks at lazy dog ranch are experienced, understanding, attentive, friendly. I used to live in Ft Collins and used the ranch often. My dogs loved to go there, the exitement was wild when they knew they were going there and they were tired and happy when they came home. They are very good at keeping the yard clean even with many many dogs playing. I recommend this great facility to anyone who has social dogs. Pros: Dogs have fun with other dogs - Drop off anytime Cons: ??? more

In response to remarks 12/7/2008

In response, as the owner of the Lazy Dog Ranch I feel I should bring some clarity to one of the previous reviews. We have a policy of very frequent ""poo patrol"", this particular dog was a roller he was known for following other dogs and rolling in the waste even as you walked to pick it up. He was also a loose canon in the yard and frequently had to be protected from fights he started. In response to the ""greeting"", he was an arm biter and a clawer and we were working with him to stop that habit as he had bitten through the skin of our staff several times. In hindsite maybe I would have denied him as a guest but he is young and he will be a good playmate with the correct guidance. The diet information is a bit misleading, we have a lot of opportunities to talk to people about the health and weight of their pets. Over the years I have known many a veterinarian and layperson to allow pets to become too heavy. We were following the feeding instructions for these two particular dogs very closely as one was trying to gain weight from an abusive situation, the discussion was just that and the opinions of experienced staff were voiced and unfortunately the conversation should have never taken place with this client. Our care continues to be personal and caring I am sorry there wasn't more of an opportunity to discuss matters with this client. Pros: individualized care more

good intentions but HORRIBLE execution of service 11/11/2008

Pros: Animal friendly people, definitely have dogs best interest at heart, convenient drop off for people with early schedules (biggest pro) CON: 1. our dog has come home with feces all over him 3 times (never happened at other places) 2. they use their concern for animals in ways that are not ethical... i.e. not doing what the owners ask for (like feeding at dog certain amounts) because they don't feel like it is right. they actually pulled a dog out of a kennel, told me it was a vet's dog, then proceeded to tell me they fed the dog less than the owner requests because they feel the dog is too fat)... 3. this morning they smacked our golden retriever in the head because he was over exuberant in his greeting... he is very responsive to verbal correction and very well trained so it was completely over the top. 4. they told us our golden was fat (he is within breed standards at 72 lbs, we exercise him daily, and our vet said he was perfect) and told us our rescue dog was the perfect weight (she was starved in a garage before she was rescued and you can see her ribs through her very dense and thick fur) even though our vet told us she would need to gain about 10lbs. this makes problem #2 even a bigger problem!!! overall, good intentions, but terrible ethics and execution of their ideals. Pros: well meaning good intentions, convenient drop off time and pick up time for the early work schedules Cons: act on what they feel the dogs best interest is, but not what you feel the dogs best interest is... dirty (feces not well maintained)... NOT TRUSTWORTHY more
