Lawrence Vision Center, in a predominantly Korean neighborhood in north Chicago, has been there almost 30 years. Family owned and operated, it's grown into one of the larger independent shops. For many years, its weakness was that the staff pretty much only spoke Korean, but in the last 10 years they've fixed that and the staff is now fluently bilingual. They have excellent prices on their products and they back them with confidence; I've had glasses that I've broken through sheer stupidity on my part that they've replaced for no charge.
