Editorial review from Citysearch 3/19/2014

A total waste and has in some cases done more harm than good. I have personal experience of a young man went to Laurel Ridge on a weekend (purpose not important), only to be greeted by feces on the sink in his room left by the previous occupant. On Monday when the man left the facility the feces was still on the sink. And yes the entire staff was very much aware that it was left there. At the same time the facility was replacing its carpet. Whoever was doing the work had left and left glue on the floor, out in the open, for everyone to smell and walk on all weekend. In my opinion that show no concern on the part of anyone at Lauren Ridge and is disgusting. I would welcome the chance for anyone at the facility tell me they were not aware of the incident. Bold face outright lie. Too bad. We give this facility federal tax dollars to allow this. They need to be closed. more

Place is a Joke!!!!! 4/5/2012

This is the worst place ever... This place should not even get 1 star... Do not expect any help but instead what you can expect is mentally abusive therapists.. They will tell you the biggest load of crap you have ever heard... You only get to see them about 10min a few times a week and when your family comes they will tell them even more BS.... They will tell you that you get to go home on one day and the day before they will change their minds and make you stay another week... and to top that off they will come around a few more times that day and ask you ""how do you feel about that I'm making you stay more days??"" I don't understand how that could help anyone.... All this is is a place that takes you out of reality for a bit... all you do is play games, color, watch TV... Group is a joke.... This place is a joke... If you need real help find another place you will be worse off after you get out... more

Such a huge BLESSING!! 5/24/2011

I want to thank the staff and dr's at Laural Ridge. In my darkest times throughout my battle with mental illness, they have always been there to catch me when I fall. When I felt like my life was coming to an end, they were there to comfort me as a person and give me sound, therapeutic coping skills that I use to this day. Even though I have been there more than once, I come out a better person. Its not about how many times you falter and fall, its about getting back up. I have had great experience with this treatment center and this is the only place I will go to in my darkest of days. Thank you so much for giving me my life back and for believing in me!! You are truly a blessing!! more

Warning: Laurel Ridge Will Not Help You Part 2 5/9/2011

I would like to add that the girl in question is a completely normal, rational, 20 yr old girl from one of the wealthiest suburban areas in San Antonio, with no history of mental illness of any kind. She has currently been lock up against her will for four days now. Laurel Ridge ""Treatment Center"" literally did nothing to address the internal bleeding or any other issues for the first three days. After her third day their of sitting in a room playing kid's games, she's talked to 1 person about the situation for 10 minuets. In that 10 minuets the doctor deduced that she should be put on 2 different forms of medication. She has in no way been emotional or irrational since entering the facility but the doctors think she needs an anti depressant and a ""mood stabilizer"". After a 10 minuet evaluation. And suggested that she be forced to stay until the 16th. They also took her blood. She has spent the past 4 day locked in a facility for no reason with nothing to do but watch tv, play domino's or color in coloring books. Laurel Ridge's idea of treatment is neglect and physiological torture. The entire facility is, from what I could tell from my visit, is camera free. So even if something horrible happened everyday at that facility. Their would be no proof. Please help me stop the daily injustices that occur at that facility. I'm currently putting together a group of websites to help stop this criminal behavior and either shut down or re structure and re staff Laurel Ridge. If you have a story or would like to help please email your info to LaurelRidgeMalpractice@gmail. With enough complaints and patient stories, together. We can stop this fraudulent facility in it's tracks and ensure that people are getting the help they really need. more

Warning: Laurel Ridge Will Not Help You Part 1 5/9/2011

Laurel Ridge Treatment Center make's fraudulent medical treatment center's look like world class medical resorts. If you have been a victim of Laurel Ridge's neglect, or if laurel ridge has wronged you in any way. Please don't be silent. It's only a matter of time before another innocent person is killed or permanently damaged and the whole thing is once again swept under the rug by the rich bureaucrat's that facilitate and profit from this monstrous organization. If you have been a victim of the neglect or malpractice that takes place on a daily basis at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center please contact LaurelRidgeMalpractice@gmail. I am one individual, I'm not a lawyer and honestly I have never personally been a patient. My girlfriend is currently a patient at Laurel Ridge 05/09/2011. Having a hard time communicating with her parents about some issues involving truthfulness, she wrote them an apology letter that in no way directly stated that she had any desire to kill herself. She talked to her parents about the situation. She explain that she felt terrible about lying to them in the past and wanted to facilitate a completely honest relationship from this point forward. The issue was by no means resolved but the proper steps to resolution had been taken and the process was well under way. Two days past and while talking to her mother she mentioned that she had felt sick all day and thought she might need to go the the doctor to get checked out. While talking to the doctor her mother advised her to explain the entire situation, the stress and so forth. She explained that before coming clean about lying to her parents she was depressed and felt like she had ruined her relationship with her family. Without them she felt she had no reason to live. Her and her mother then requested information concerning family counseling and suggested that she might need to talk to a professional psychiatrist. The doctor left shortly and upon returning told her that she had some internal bleeding from unknown causes and they needed to do further testing. Subsequently she would also ""HAVE TO"" (as in no longer had a choice), be admitted to Laurel Ridge Treatment Center because she wrote that she had previously felt like killing herself over her current situation. She didn't feel she had the ability to resolve it. The thoughts had past after talking to her family and working to resolve the matter. more

1st problem: I called Laurel Ridge seeking help for pain med addiction and withdraw. Upon getting an automated message I left my contact info and asking to be contacted immediately, I was going through a very severe withdraw and was suicidal. I never received a call, instead I got a box in the mail a week later. It contained a cheesy calendar, a letter saying thanks for you interest in LR, and as one final FU a cellophane wrapped packet of 100 ct cardboard info sheets; they didn't even bother to unwrap them. It was like saying ""HERE! Here's you're effing info, quit calling."" 2nd complaint. After that experience I decided I was better off abusing the meds, at least I wouldn't be in such physical agony and in danger of killing myself. A few weeks passed and I ended up in the same situation. This time I just went over there. After spending a few days at LR, the ONLY THING that happened was a group session in which we played a ****ing kid's game. A kid's game, no therapy play, just a kid's game. How is that supposed to help someone who is dealing with drug addiction or depression?? On top of that they never addressed nor treated me for the physical withdraws I was dealing with. I could have seized and died. If you are in need of help, seek help elsewhere. This is nothing more than a warehousing unit. Maybe a step up from the state hospital. more

Not Helpful, just a place to get bullied 8/11/2010

If you have fun being picked on by older kids and lied to by staff than this is the place for you. The instant that you get in you are told to ""snitch"" if anyone is picking on you. Have you ever been jumped while trying to isolate yourself from a person. This Purto Rican kid actually came into the quiet room and punched me and so that was the third time, I did what I had to do after telling or ""snitching"" twice and nothing happened. I pinned him against a corner and elbowed him three times and the staff ran over and told me they might call the cops on me simply because that's all they... ME. The only institution in the world that doesn't have a camera or anything to watch the quiet room. You need to ask permission to cross a line and to go in and out of your room and so there is not any freedom there. It's like a boot camp rather than a treatment facility. more
