If you love Mexican food 8/27/2002

The best mexican food around. Lares is for those who want REAL mexican food, not homogenized ""Gringo"" fare so often offered up by the chain restaurants. Go out of your way to try it and you will get hooked. The waitresses are as charming as the food is good. I hope this place remains the gem that it is. Family owned and run, it's one of my favorites in all of the city. Fresh chips and salsa are addictive, not a bad thing on the menu, and I've had all of it. The more amazing things are filet mignon wrapped in bacon, carne adobada (marinated pork steak), carnitas in chile colorado, and gallina en mole.
