Two years and tired!!!! 11/1/2009

I have lived at Lakeshore for two years now. The first year was really comfortable aside from the fact that i had some regrets for moving in after i saw some of the apartments my friends were living in which were much less expensive and much larger. I have leased the one bedroom, one bathroom Hancock model. It's gotten smaller and smaller every year. After seeing other one bedroom apartments with much more square feet , better upgrades and less expensive rent, i feel that I have cheated myself. The goal is to save for a house, and the expensive rent at Lakeshore apartments really does not allow for that. It is really senseless to pay so much to rent such a small apartment. furthermore, a lot has changed within the last year. My first year at Lakeshore was very comfortable. Going into the second year, a lot of bad things started to happen. There was an incident where a carport including resident's vehicles was burned. there have been several attacks on female residents, burglaries or thefts were there is no evidence of forced entry, whcih would lead one to believe that maintenance or staff is somehow involved. there was one resident who totalled three of four cars after speeding through the parking lot drunk. One of my co-workers is also a resident of Lakeshore. she lives in the back area and would complain all the time about the doors constantly slamming and the Domestic Violence issues that occured almost weekly. Approximately 3 months ago, the same thing started to happen in my area. There are people screaming drunk from balconies at all hours of the night. There was a girl and her boyfriend fighting and i could hear her in my apartment being tossed around and she was screaming like he was trying to kill her. I understand that when you live in an apartment there is an expectation of noise and sometimes other things that you may not agree with. I have never complained for loud music, talking or even the dogs barking, but domestic issues are not safe for anyone and that's one thing i will not tolerate along with the drunk screaming from the balconies. I really enjoyed the fact that Lakeshore was a community with young professionals and the behavior of the residents reflected that about a year ago. now, the residents are much younger and have no respect for their neighbors. With the expense to live at Lakeshore, there is a greater expectation of the property and the residents and Lakeshore is not living up to that expectation. If Lakeshore could return the standard of living it had for residents one year ago and make better upgrades or increase the square footage, it would be the ideal place of residence. Pros: Washer and dryer included Cons: Expensive and noisy more

DO NOT RENT AT LAKESHORE APARTMENTS! 9/16/2009

DO NOT RENT AT LAKESHORE! \r I would not move into these apartments unless you want to get taken advantage of. My roommate and I lived on this property for 2 years, never a late payment. I made the move to buy my first house, and the instant I told Corey Clayton (Property Manager) this, it was all downhill from there. He blatantly LIED about the fact that you may receive 1 carpet cleaning, if requested, for each year you live at Lakeshore. When we inquired about this PRIOR to moving out, he said they did not do that. When we vacated, with a pet, we were charged a ridiculous amount to replace the carpeting (we were EXTREMELY clean individuals) saying that it required replacement. And guess what? THEY DO NOT REPLACE THEIR CARPETING FOR NEW TENANTS EVEN AFTER A PET HAS LIVED IN THAT APARTMENT FOR 1+ YEARS! That is disgusting and unethical and cheap. You may be moving into an apartment that once had 1 or more pets. Therefore, the carpet may look clean, but I can guarentee you it's covered with general bacteria from owning a pet, along with pet hair. We were blantantly lied to about this, along with other things. He refused to work with us on vacating early, for the benefit of the property to prepare the apartment for the next tenant. Instead, we got charged an extra month's rent (in addition to all costs that come to purchasing your first home) and are now stuck with quite a hefty fine for the carpet. I'm curious as to WHY they require you to pay a pet deposit, in addition to a monthly pet fee? It apparently didn't cover the replacement of the carpeting. Just beware - Corey is money-hungry and unwilling to come to a compromise, or any sort of agreement, with his tenants. Regardless if you've been a quiet tenant who always paid their rent on time, make sure you have EVERYTHING in writing, and covered all bases before vacating. Not to mention the safety issue. A girl was held at GUN POINT outside of our apartment building and we were NEVER INFORMED OF THIS. Instead, we were stunned when our keys didn't get us into the building, we were forced to go to the office to ask what was wrong, and were told that our locks were changed. No further information. We found out from the victim what had happened. Also an entire carport, including resident's vehicles were burned down to the ground earlier last year. Residents were never formally informed of how/why this happened. Moral of my long rant is this -- there are plenty of other northside apartments that are newer, nicer, and more fair in their business ethics. This property is not that great and you'll have to deal with crime issues, as well as unethical and dishonest property management. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!!!!\r \r more

Lakeshore Apartments-Not bad 6/30/2009

I lived at Lakeshore Apartments for one year. The apartments were very nice, spacious layout with washer and dryers included in your rent. The only thing I would be cautious of is it was very much a place for a younger crowd, people that like to party and are probably right out of college. I felt a lot of times like I was living with people in a sorority or fraternity. more

Professionalism at its worse 1/7/2008

Lakeshore apts. appears to be fine on the outside, however do not bother living there because you will be Disapointed. First, Lakeshore apts. Has been having frequent break ins, and peeping toms all over the complex. Lake shore apts. Has attempted to resolve this by having one security guard drive around the property occasionally. However this obviously does not help because break ins and peeping toms are still around Lakeshore Apts. In addition Lakeshore Apts. has notified tenants of the break in?s however they are slacking on fixing broken locks on doors. One of the worse things about Lake shore Apts. is the fact that their staff does not communicate well with tenants and this must be due to the fact that most of their tenants are young and thus they feel they are capable of getting away with this. In conclusion I do not recommend Lakeshore Apts. to anyone who wishes to have a crime free life and be cheated. Cons: crowded area more
