Lake Shore Athletic Club

I have grown up at lake shore the school and the club. i know that the staff in the play area keeps an eye out for the behavior that everyone has ""reported"". it could have been your child to cause the biting or hitting. some children have caused then turned around and said that it was in fact not their fault. and i assure you children are punished by a time out if this happens. \r the weight and workout room are cleaned at least 3 times a day. i have never heard of staff calling children anything rude. where ever you went is in fact not my club. more

So, if all you want to do is work out, swim, or take a class, this is your place. If you are looking for the 'meat market' club, and need flex your muscles or be on parade...keep looking! Lakeshore is a great and safe feeling family club. Yes, the decor is a little dated (a few posters showing fine athletes from the 80's), but the owners do a fantastic job of keeping the equipment current, offering a ton of classes, and bringing in good instructors for clinics. We are in the middle, but there's tons for the little ones, the middle kids, and seniors. I love how friendly the staff is when we come in...it's all very low key and not a bit pretentious or intimidating. Pros: nice neighborhood club Cons: no spinning classes more

I could't efford to be a member any longer, so I chose not to renew my membership. Well in the contract it auto renews, I suppose thats why Im not a laywer. To make a long story they sent me to collections for 516 dollars... Five months of membership dues that I didn't use. I suppose its like the ""family"" they are nice to you until you want to leave. Then they make it difficult. If you have a complaint talk to member services, thats Monday through Friday 8am-noon. That makes it real easy! To drop your membership you have to go there in person. You don't need to talk to member services I found out, you can tell anyone at the desk. A week latter a collection agent will call you. I can almost swear that I said I was dropping my membership the last day I was there, but that was six months ago now. That is my experience with Lake Shore Athletic Club. Been here for over 6 years. This place has it all. I play racquetball and basketball. The wife works out and does the whole class thing (they have 50+ per week - all included). The kids do their ""Fit Kidz"" program and play in the supervised play area. Come summer... we play tennis and hang out by the outdoor pool. We have to be this places least profitable members, we use it all the time. \r \r It's not all roses...a couple things. The parking lot can get full during peak times. But honestly, that just means I have to walk 50 yards. I kid with my wife and say ""this is just a warm up"". The other thing is that age of the facility. It's been here for almost 50 years! But I will give it up. The owners are always adding and improving. It's kinda dorky, but I perfer to shop local..this place is a family owned and run gym. Pros: All inclusive, no contracts, family friendly, great value Cons: parking can be tight...but so what. more
