One of the truly superior lakes in the country, Lake Gaston in Northeast North Carolina and Southeast Virginia has 200,000 acres and is approximately 1 miles wide at its lower basin. From end to end it is nearly 35 miles long beginning at Kerr Lake Dam and stretching to Roanoke Rapids Lake Dam and is 200 feet above sea level with water depths allowed to vary only one foot above or below normal level. You will find many places to visit in North Carolina and Virginia in Northampton, Warren and Halifax counties and Mecklenburg and Brunswick counties. Some restaurants and entertainment areas are waterfront with docks and there are well-planned day areas for recreation and fishing. Most homes offering lakefront rentals have private docks at the lake edge for your enjoyment. Water quality is good so owners rarely install pools, which would pale in comparison to all the natural beauty of the lake. Welcome to Lake Gaston!
