Best

we started ordering the pizzas for delivery a few years ago and always loved the margherita and sicilian style grandma... but when we ate it for the first time at the restaurant ,...

Worst

Once again proving that D.O.C means absolutely nothing. Sorry, this is no Nicks, not even the same ballpark. Can't hold a candle to Grimaldi's or Patsy's either. Not to say it ...

Decent food, OVERPRICED, bad service... and a DELIVERY CHARGE!!! 9/23/2012

Not happy with them, at all. While the food is decent, the staff is impatient and rude, and the pizzas are expensive. To top it off, they charge for delivery. \r \r I urge everyone reading this, to boycott La Villa until they stop adding a delivery charge. If we let this establishment get away with that, others will follow suit. \r Pros: decent food Cons: bad attitude, bad service, delivery charge more

Cool staff and nice atmosphere.. also Adam the bartender makes an awsome espresso! Pros: fantastic pizza, great salads, Cons: gets crowded and loud on weekends more

Eat At Your Own RISK!!!! 7/7/2009

My husband and I have been to La Villa in Mill Basin several times...and loved it! Their salad pizza is my ultimate guilt-free favorite thing to eat there. \r \r Anyway...that was in the past.\r \r We noticed they had another location in Park Slope, Brooklyn and decided to go try it out...I was in the mood for pizza, sans the guilt, so I ordered a “small pizza insalata”...mmmmm!\r \r My hubby got a chicken cutlet Parm hero. That was it, no appetizers, no drinks, we drank water.\r \r Our orders arrived; I took the first bite of my pizza and savored it...delish!!!\r \r My next bite could have potentially been my last.\r \r Now in all honesty finding a insect, fly, etc...Any type of insect would have been disgusting and gross...however, it wouldn't have caused physical or bodily harm. \r \r As I began chewing my 2nd bite of insalata pizza, I felt something hard when I bit down. My immediate thought was it had to be an olive pit (since there were black olives in the salad). I was chewing and the food was starting to go down my throat...but at the same time I was trying to get my food back up (sorry to be so gross). I think a feeling of panic and anxiety set in when whatever was in my mouth was going down my throat...I started choking and spitting up my food to get it out!\r \r Still anticipating it to be an olive pit...No!!! I discovered it was a heavy duty staple/metal clamp!!!!!!\r \r I instantly called the waiter and showed him what I almost choked to death on....he said ""Oh I will be right back""\r \r We waited about 3-4 mins before he came back and said ""I am sorry...we will make you another one!""\r I told him “I don't want another one!!!”\r “I want to show the manager or owner what I could of died of or had internal bleeding or ruptured my intestines from!!!!”\r Again after waiting another 3-4 mins and about to just walk out the door…the ""manager"" came...seeming very unconcerned or bothered by the fact.\r \r He didn't even say SORRY...just ""so what seems to be the problem here...?""\r WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM...that's how you approach the situation????\r I said ""THE PROBLEM IS THAT I COULD OF SWALLOWED THAT METAL CLAMP...STAPLE...THAT WAS IN MY SALAD!!!""\r He responds by saying...\r ""Oh... well, it happens, it must have come from the crate where the lettuce was shipped in...I guess it wasn't washed well, I will take it off the bill and make you a new one to take home""\r \r Two things.\r First, I do not want to take your pizza home so that I could god forbid find something else in it, and choke in the comfort of my own home.\r Second, I cant believe he said I will take it off the bill...do you think I am paying for anything at this point...or the uneaten hero...my husband was now scared to eat anything from there!\r \r The mere fact that this ""manager"" was so unsympathetic and didn't even say sorry is disheartening.\r I explained to him, that we have been to the other location several times and how delicious their food is...he just responded by shrugging his shoulders saying ""Oh well, the salad must not have been washed that good""\r \r Everyone that I have been telling this story to keeps insisting that I have a law suit on my hands. \r I don't want their money, I just want to spread the word about their ""staple"" pizza and if you do decide to go and eat there to proceed with caution and to thoroughly and meticulously inspect every morsel of food before it enters your mouth!\r Cons: You May Just Find Staples In Your Food more

Italian Food Factory Feel 1/11/2009

Great appetizers, great pizza, but the main dishes are really lacking. I got a meat sauce with no meat, and a very bland sauce. The restaurant feels more like a chain restaurant rather than an authentic Italian place. \r Aunt Suzie's is right next door... I recommend taking a few steps down the block for much more authentic food and atmosphere.\r Pros: Friendly wait staff, fast service Cons: Mediocre pasta dishes more

Best Pasta I have had i awhile... 11/8/2008

The Pasta dishes were very large and tasted great. I am looking forward to going back very soon to try the pizza. Pros: service Cons: the wait to be seated more

Nothing special. 6/18/2008

I just took my Manhattanite friends here for lunch. I wanted to show off my new neighborhood, just moved to Park Slope. Walked by here before, looked nice, menu looked great so we gave it a try. At 3 in the afternoon there were about 4 tables occupied but the service was so slow. They didn't refill drinks unless asked and it seemed like forever for them to take our order. Food was good. Probably won't go back unless someone I am with really wants to go, otherwise won't suggest. more

Great Deep Dish pizzas and comfort food soups 5/31/2008

We order from La Villa all the time, and they have excellent deep dish pizzas and soups, with great prices. I can't say the atmosphere is amazing, but it's a neighborhood spot where people can bring their kids. Recommended! more

AWESOME... 2/15/2008

I don't know what is wrong with the other people who reviewed this restaurant. The garlic bread and foccaccia is great...not ""wonderbreadish."" My Italian great-aunt enjoys eating there and at any other Italian restaurant she claims she can ""make it better."" But not at La Villa. Also...please explain how the decor is ""garrish??"" It is a warm inviting restaurant with good service and great food. I guess the other people who made reviews would prefer a cheesy fake marble, columns decor with waitresses with so much hairspray that they need to avoid an open flame. Pros: Great food, good service Cons: They don't take reservations more

Yummy Garlic Bread and Marinated Chicken 2/3/2008

Pizza is great, the bread is delicious, the marinated chicken they have on their salad/s is juicy and delicious. I often order take-out from there and it never fails to satisfy. A neighborhood staple. Pros: pizza, portion sizes Cons: Make reservations on Sunday afternoons and Friday nights more

Great Pizza and Good Customer Service 9/1/2007

Love the Shrimp Parmigian Entree and Margherita Pizza. Every time that I've eaten here I've had a great time and service has been wonderful. Pros: Great Food Cons: Pricey Sandwiches more

Meh! Bay Ridge in the Slope! 8/24/2007

I too was put off by the garish decor and harsh lighting, who wouldn't be?\r \r The food is exceeding average, like I made it. In fact I think I could dupe most of their dishes. It's that pedestrian. Nothing, nothing stood out with the exception of the slightly interesting pizza.\r \r The service is soooo slow at times and the general feel is not hospitable. There's maybe 2 good waitressess in the place. The waiters are stunning bad, they usually stood around chatting with themselves. \r \r I didn't understand why this place was jammed either until I saw the crowd that was in there.\r The place is also lousy with kids, not a plus when you're trying to eat.\r \r Been there twice and must say the afternoon visit was much better. \r \r \r \r \r Pros: Ok for lunch Cons: Service more

awesome food 5/23/2007

this place is above average in a neighborhood that trades on its name and not entirely on good food. i have eaten here a few times and each time i have been stunned by the quality of food and service. i thoroughly enjoyed the sausage and broccoli rabe sandwich. the sausage was great, but the rabe was sublime. it's not easy to prepare this properly, but it seems they have it down to a science. my wife enjoyed her mother's day chicken parm, and wendy went crazy for the foccacia that they deliver promptly upon being seated. charming hostess, attentive waitstaff...this place is running on all cylinders. Pros: GREAT FOOD more

Horribly rude liars 2/12/2007

I've eaten at La Villa many times, always ordering a pizza. Not great, but convenient to where I live. The most recent time, I ordered a pasta with prosciutto. They brought me pasta with ground meat. I tried to send it back, but they REFUSED to take it. They told me that this was how the ""prepared"" prosciutto at their restaurant. The waiter was terribly rude, the owner raised his voice at us, and my girlfriend was near tears from the way they treated her. You will not get your water re-filled, even when waving wildly for attention. Waiters are blind to any needs, and ""forget"" stuff constantly. My order has been messed up many times, but this time the rudeness was inexcusable. The owner changed his story many times to explain why they wouldn't take back the pasta, bold-faced lying to us. Intollerable. Cons: Horrible, disgusting owner and lazy, rude service more

Best Bread Anywhere! 12/17/2006

I love this place! Great food, great location! If you're waiting they treat you to slices of garlic bread and pizza. The bread basket is to-die-for. Great place to take a group. Pros: Good Food, Large Servings, Great Bread Basket Cons: Waiting time more

WAY TO GO 10/27/2006

I m in the restaurant business i have seen it all but la villa just top them all .\r The attitude when you order delivery is unbelievable ,they made me feel like they had too much business and didn't need mine .Stupid i was i order! What a mistake 1 pizza 1 pasta and 1 app 67 dollars but of course that include 5 dollars del charge the pizza was ok at best pasta overcooked and app way to salty and waiting 1hour for this i ll never order from them again that is for sure. Like i say i m in this businessand i have learned from them what to never do when i open my place .They take people for idiots and that will bite them back in the behind eventually soon Pros: none the i have seen Cons: del charge bad food more

Where are some of you eating? 7/24/2006

I've been eating at La Villa about 3 times a month since they opened, and I think that some of you must be eating in a different restaurant from the one that I go to. Bad service? Burnt pizza? Oily food? You have got to be kidding! Once there was a problem with my order and I let my waiter know. The dish was taken away at once, no questions asked, with an apology. A few minutes later the newly cooked dish came to my table. The waiter made sure it was done right. One of the owners apologized to me... and did not charge me for the dish. I was already a fan of La Villa, but that made me feel like it was ""my restaurant"".\r \r Oh, the first poster ""EH""... it's not a ""pizza joint"", just like LeBarnadin isn't a ""fish shack"". It's a pizza restaurant, that's why the ""no slices"" policy. more

EH 7/12/2006

Food here is good, BUT they tend to burn the pizzas. Also they tend to use too much salt. I almost always call and pick up the order and they consistently get it wrong. Almost like they forget what is supposed to go in their dishes. Also dining in you get more than picking up or having it delivered (bread with some dishes, extra chicken etc.) Yet it cost the same. Speaking of cost, they are expensive for lunch. $9-$13 for heros plus tax. Pizzas about 20 bucks.\r \r Again the food is good, but nothing exceptional. To me it's causal dining, nothing more. Like a glorified pizza joint that does not sell by the slice. Also parking stinks, but that goes for pretty much any place in Park Slope. Pros: Foods is not bad, Pizza is NOT the greatest especially since it's their claim to fame with the brick oven and all. Cons: Staff needs improvement and prices are high for a pizza joint. more

The Best Value Park Slope Offers 3/10/2006

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in all of New York City. You can certainly find restaurants that offer a superior ""fine dining"" experience, but for superb food at reasonable prices, La Villa can't be beat. My wife and I will usually only order one ""primi"" and one ""secondi"" and split them, as they tend to offer large portions. Our agreed favorite is the orrechiete with sausage and chicken (usually the waiters are kind enough to split the dish in half so you get to sample both meats). The eggplant parmesan is also great, and my friend who grew up in Manhattan claims that no one serves a better baked ziti with meatsauce. The decor is nice, but more casual than ""fine dining."" This is as good as neighborhood restaurants come. Appetizers are somewhere around $7 each and the main dishes are between $11 and $16. more
