Make it your next night out! 12/16/2002

At the recommendation of some friends we decided to try to new La Rez cafe menu. Was it the best? I highly recommend it for its taste treats and value. And the waits were as attentive as if we were spending big bucks. We ending up staying for the late night bar scene and their live music and even at again from the late night menu. If you want to go casual try the cafe or late night menu and you will definitely try it again and again as we have been doing. The wine list is very affordable and approachable and the top shelf liquors are some of the best around. Parking across the street was as easy as could be also. Too bad the cafe menu is only offered Sunday through Thursday nights, it would be great for a weekend choice. Pros: value, interesting tastes, convenient parking Cons: no weekend cafe menu more

Romantic but lacking 10/24/2002

Night out for my husband and I..the patio/backyard dining was magical with tiny lights in the trees and a starry sky overhead. The service was prompt and courteous. The food, however, was not what we expected for the price. With just a few in attendance, they were out of the filet mignon early in the evening. The entrees were somewhat overpowered by odd spices, strange sauces, and garnishments. Wine and mixed drinks added quite a bit of cost to the meal. With tip, we spent $125.00 for two. Good for The Chapel Hill Experience 10/3/2002

I took my husband here for his birthday---while we had both attended UNC-CH, neither had tried La Residence. Really Good Food, Great atmosphere-pricey but wish we'd discovered it earlier. Will go again. more

I was really desapointed by la residence when i went to chapell hill.For a Dinora wining restaurant,I didn't see any silver and the food was not only really expensive,which was i guess ok but not french at all..and I know waht french cuisine is.But the service was good.Still.... more

Where to go 8/24/2002

No place better to go for excellent service, atmosphere, and fine dining in the triangle area. The wait staff is very personable and kind, willing to go out of their way to provide the best service possible. La Residence is the perfect place for an intimate date, anniversay celebration, or wedding. more

New cafe and bar GREAT 8/16/2002

Wow, the changes a La Rez are great. THe new cafe menu and the outdoor menu and jazz on Tues nites and blue grass on Thurs nite bring it up to today's scene. No more take your in-laws there only! And its interesting enought to make frequent trips. Wish downtown Chapel Hill would make parking easier. Chef Heaton has got to be a star in their crown. Still an 8 in my heart 8/16/2002

Hey, some of the people have changed, but guess what, its better than ever. The patio and cafe menu are great to stop into, but you/ve got to ask for a cafe menu. And believe it or not the wait staff is the friendliest I've seen in 10 years at the restaurant. It seems they are more approachale and younger than I've seen in the ten years I have been going to La Rez. Chef Heaton is also young and is making a real effort to stop by as many tables and discuss his food offerings. There may be some changes but for a younger crowd its the best yet. And the bar scene is the hottest in the Triangle. But, that is a well kept secret on their fabulous patio. Pros: friendly, great taste treats Cons: downtown CH parking more
