Excellent, reasonably-priced croissants, brioche, delectable and creative fancy pastries, as well as the usual things one finds in a Chinese bakery, e.g., sponge cake, red bean cakes, and best of all, the filled Chinese buns. The buns are the size of a thick burger bun, with tasty bread surrounding your choice of fillings. I like the ham and egg for breakfast and the curried chicken, BBQ pork and shumai (ground pork and veggie filling). Best of all the buns are under $1 each. They're ideal food to carry on to an airplane, since they're tasty, not messy, filling and don't need refrigeration, way better and cheaper than what's available at the airport. Pack a couple of these and some fruit and you have a nice meal. The place is about a block from the Argyle stop on the Red Line and when I worked downtown I would sometimes stop there on my way home from work and then get back on the Red Line.
Pros: wide variety of excellent pastries, both French and Chinese, inexpensive
Cons: only street parking
