Uh-maze-ing! 2/19/2011

Both times I have gone with friends we split pizzas. The margarita is wonderful and I like the unique flavor of the lime & avocado pizza. Genius! I am craving the salted chocolate chip cookie. Uh-maze-ing! I just love it! The sandwiches look gorgeous. I am going to try a sandwich on my next LGO adventure. This place is always packed with customers. I HIGHLY recommend! more

Relaxing and informal 6/8/2009

Stopped for a beer sitting outside after cycling. Friendly hip and comfortable. more

interesting concept 1/4/2009

The menu includes bakery items, sandwiches, salads, and pizza. I tried a strawberry muffin for breakfast one day and it was excellent ($2.50 for a large muffin). I also tried the shaved turkey sandwich for lunch one day. It was excellent and came with a small cup of cut strawberries. The place was very busy each time I went (even off-hours). The parking is the only negative (very little) Pros: variety Cons: parking more

Worth Waiting In Line! 9/6/2008

Had dinner with a friend here (the Pizzeria, not the market) on a Sunday night in August. We parked directly in front of the door! There was essentially no wait when we arrived, though there was a full house and a quick moving line formed shortly thereafter. My only complaint is that due to our small party of two, we were seated at the smallest table I'd ever seen which was awkward to eat at due to its triangular shape. The server was friendly and attentive. If you've heard anything about the pizza here, you'll already know it was so good it'll make you forget the somewhat high price tag (for pizza.) But let me say, the salad was amazing! (I'm sorry I don't remember exactly what is was called.) Not only was it prepared with fresh ingredients, but I'm typically disappointed with restaurant salad dressing. Thier's is not too bitter; not too sweet. L.G.O. got it right!!! Best salad dressing I've had in a restaurant in years! Oh, and the salad portion is plenty for two to share as an appetizer of as a meal for one. Can't wait to go back for more! :) Pros: Great salad dressing, nice ambience, friendly/attentive service. Cons: A bit pricy. $50 for one pizza, two salads and two soft drinks. more

Great food! 5/21/2008

I love this place! I am a frequent patron and have yet to be disappointed. Their pizza with the sourdough crust is oh so yummy! The desserts are fantastic and the salads always look so good yet I cannot break away from the pizza to try them. The market portion has a great choice of imports from wine to cheese. Plus they always have interesting knickknacks to browse as well. Yes they do get busy and anyone should understand that on the weekends you may have a wait. It sure beats the 3 hour wait at Pizza Bianco!!! Granted lots of businesses are busy on weekends. Parking is a little tricky at these times and the lots are small. If you don't want to valet you can usually find parking in the surrounding neighborhood it's not that bad of a walk. Pros: excellent food Cons: parking more

One of my Fav's!!!! 2/27/2008

I love this place, not only the Pizza, but all the wine and other things they sell! It is a great place that is so different from what most of Arizona has going on! Pros: Great Pizza Cons: None! more

One word - Gladiator 12/3/2007

The Gladiator pizza is amazing. I really love going here, the food is always fresh and the salads are so different. Pros: Cute Ambience, super fresh food & clean Cons: Parking and sometimes theres a wait more

Smart Idea 11/18/2007

I live about 5 minutes from LGO. However, I reallly dont care how close I live I am never going there again. I agree, the music is annoying and "TOO LOUD." I practically had to scream to the cashier lady and she still couldnt hear me. The lady then got very rude and ended up getting our order all wrong. The Havana Latte is pretty good. I recommend that. I noticed LGO raised their prices about $2 on every item. The notebooks in there used to cost $10 now they cost $12. And the pizzas were raised a bunch. Dont go here is you have an hour and a half. You are better off going down the road the Chelsea's Kitchen or The Vig just south of that. Never order one of Tammy Coe's cake. Even though they look awesome, dont get fooled by the price. The tiny cakes range from $20 to $30. Not very smart. But if you go next door to Arleccino Gelateria, you will die for their gelatoes. Awesome. Pros: The Gelato place next door Cons: Read my review more

One of Phoenix's Best! 12/22/2006

If you like gourmet pizza, then you will love La Grande Orange. The corn and goat cheese was a surprisingly good combo and I order it whenever I feel like spoiling myself. They also have the BEST cupcakes i have ever tasted! They are called ooey-gooey or some stupid name like that, but man are they good!! Normally I don't like too much frosting on my cupcakes, but I am so glad they load it on here- it's so tasty! The only real complaint I have about this place is the parking is awful. If you order a pizza, you should have someone drive you so you can run in while they drive around because spots are few and far between! The prices aren't real cheap, but it is reasonable for gourmet food. They also have lots of fun objects/foods to shop. more

Best pizza in the city! 12/9/2006

My wife and I love to stop in! Parking is not so bad, use the valet and it's worry free. ASK FOR JOE! We had him the last two times we came in, and he gives phenominal service. If you live in the Phoenix area or are visiting, give it a try. It's the best. Pros: Great service, good atmosphere, reasonably priced more

So Posh! 11/24/2006

I love this little bakery! You absolutly must try the cupcakes. If your looking for somthing more memorable than eggs and bacon, this is your place. It reminds me of a place that might be featured on the travel channel as a great place to eat. more

The bad cancels out the good... 8/18/2006

I've been to LGO for breakfast and pizza. I have mixed emotions about the whole place. On one hand, the food really is delicious. Especially the breakfast. The pizzaria is where I really start to question everything. The wait to get seated is usually long. This would be okay if the vibe while waiting was pleasant, but it's just not. The music they play is extremely confusing to me. It seems repetitive on top of being really, REALLY bad. On a few occasions in particular, I heard the same awful CD. It was a female singer doing pathetically bad acoustic versions of classic rock songs such as "crazy train" and others like it. Horrible! My group suffered through it cause we were starving...we finally got sat about an hour later. The staff seemed frantic, and at one point we over-heard a female manager yelling at a few of the servers, in plain ear-shot of customers. This was all before the food came. When it finally did it was alright, but not nearly good enough to make us forget about the bad music, stressed vibe, or weird interactions between the staff. My recomendation, get it TO GO. Pros: Breakfast Cons: Bad music, long wait, rude managers more

La Orange rocks!!! 4/17/2006

I eat here all the time. Everything is tasty and consistent. The fruit is always fresh. After 4pm they serve the most delicsous burgers too. One thing I really want to point out is the people complaining about long wait times. They are totally exaggerating. I have waited in line many, many times when the line is out the door. It moves alot faster than you realize. By the time you walk out to you're car and leave to go somewhere else you could already have you're order in. If the cashiers are all busy someone will walk down the line and take you're order. So don't let the lines or the limited parking stop you and oh by the way, I always manage to snag a parking spot. Don't miss out on some great food.....why do you think the line is always out the door????? Pros: great food more

Good but oh so difficult 1/27/2006

I love the pizza at LGO. I live a whopping 3 three blocks from that corner but I'm rarely there. Why? As the previous reviewer said, dining at LGO is a major ordeal. Parking is non-existent, wait times are unreasonable, and the one time I walked over for breakfast the line was out the door. I can only imagine what will happen when their new joint across the street opens, the parking lot of which is already full of LGO/Postino patrons! Ambiance is cool but too try-hard, it's yet another Phoenix establishment that is wannabe LA. I've been to LA a lot and it's pretty laid back compared to LGO. Suggestion to the owners: find your own style and stop trying to be LA. There's already too much of that going on in this town, and the real LA isn't even like that. Pros: Great pizza, Great wine, Great salads Cons: Weirdo trendy crowd, No parking ever, Long wait times more

LGO Raises the bar ! 1/8/2006

Having lived in Phoenix for 20 years I recognize a real change in the dinning market. LGO offers class, ambiance, style, generally healthy food, great music and fun people watching. I think the LGO management team has brought a new level of casual sophistication to eating out; they also have developed Postinos and Chelsea's Kitchen. So far these places are all hit, they must be doing something right and Phoenix needs a little more class. Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Service Cons: Parking, Crowded, Crowded more

Best Bread in Phoenix 12/7/2004

While La Grande Orange Grocery boasts a wide variety of quality products, one that should not be overlooked is the artisan bread. Being somewhat of a bread snob, I had my doubts when the cashier gushed about how great the bread tasted. What I purchased ended up being what I would deem almost textbook example of what a properly crafted sourdough baguette should be. It had a delicious flavor (subtle tang but not overpowering), crisp crust, moist and delicate interior. The bread is baked by MJ Coe's Bread, the owner himself a Certified Master Baker. Try this bread and you will not be disappointed! Pros: Excellent Bread, Competitive Pricing, Good Service Cons: , Limited parking more

Best Coffee in the Valley 11/27/2004

They have really good French Roast, Viennese and Organic coffee. They use Mr. Espresso coffee, a San Francisco based company. You can buy the coffee beans here too. The coffee is really mellow and flavorful. Their baked stuff is really nice too - very fresh and not too sweet or sugary. The pizzerria next door serves thin crust pizza with interesting toppings. These guys are doing a great job! I take my guests from the big cities here to prove that Phoenix is not the back of the beyond... Pros: great coffee, awesome food, open kitchen layout Cons: , crowded more

the big o 6/17/2004

It only takes 5 minutes of sitting at La Gorande Orange and its easy to forget you are still in Phoenix. It seems more like a corner coffee shop/market in Berkley or Seattle. The place is always crowded, and there is good reason. The coffee cant be beat, and the menu boasts sturdy breakfasts and gormet sandwiches. Just be willing to wait for a table, or settle for the deck on the other side of the parking lot. Pros: great ambiance, yummy food, good service more
