Wonderful Mexican food 4/28/2010

This is was my third time eating at La Costita on Barbur and it most certainly will not be my last. The food is delicious and at a great price. It is nice to go to a mexican restaurant that has a bit more class. I just ate the Tacos Tijuana and they were the best I've had. It felt I was back in Mexico. I was surpised at how cheap the dinner special was at $7.95. I am definitely recommending this place to my family and friends because we are always at competition to find the best mexican restaurant. So far, I consider myself the winner. Pros: Quick service, friendly workers, clean environmen more

Maybe Arizona has the right idea! 4/22/2010

Are you serious with this place? If you're a gringo, forget courteous service, good food and decent prices. This place sucks! They are rude, slow, and physically irritated that you are there to eat in the first place. HORRIBLE. I hope they go out of business. Pros: There was an ending Cons: We went there to eat more

WORST DINNER EVER 4/2/2010

This was by far the worst dining experience that we have had in a very very long time. The food was completely overpriced and had absolutely no flavor. My quesedilla was limp and under-cooked and my husband's enchiladas were extremely small, tasteless and the cheese on top was barely melted. The ceasar salad that we ordered really was the worst part of the meal. The lettuce was limp and on the way to being brown, and the croutons on top were straight from a bag. This salad was DISGUSTING and we couldn't bring ourselves to eat more than one bite. The salsa was watery and the chips were stale. My husband's margarita tasted like it had no tequilla in it and was not worth the 9 dollars that we paid. All in all, we will NEVER go back to La Costita and will tell everyone we know that they should avoid this restaurant at all cost. We are so bummed because we rarely go out to eat since we live on a budget and this was SUCH A WASTE of our hard-earned cash. Pros: NONE Cons: Over priced food, bland and tasteless more

Horrible Service!! 3/22/2010

Went there with my sister a few weeks ago and we had a horrible experience I just had to write about it...for one the waiter did not even smile when we walked in to the bar area for happy hour, threw down the menu and didn't explain where the happy hour was on the menu we had to go searching for it. Took about 10 minutes to bring us some water. Another 15 minutes to bring us our drinks, I ordered a regular margarita where you couldn't even taste the tequila, I asked for a little more tequila and the waiter responded by saying "oh well you want a double, you should've just said so!" I was appalled at their service, and yes don't forget they WILL charge you for extra chips. Oh yea and DON'T order the ceaser salad, they threw some packaged lettuce on a plate with packaged croutons and a side of ceaser dressing, what is this Shari's!? This place is an embaressment to Mexican food/drinks! Pros: Not worth it Cons: Margaritas are the worst! more

$40 chips and salsa 1/28/2010

Well I,am from Mexico and I really like this restaurant, just because they actually bring a different taste of Mexican Cuisine! is not bad, I met the burritos with sauce and cheese on this side of the border, Mexicanos we do not eat that in Mexico, So for someone to tell me that they really like Mexican Food and go to Taco Bell for dinner and order hard shell tacos with cheese and sauce, no good amigo, this is not your typical mexican restaurant, come on... they problably charge you for some tequilas or beer, Not 40 dollars for just chips and salsa amigo, read the menu and then you place your order, and remenber Burros are just on this side of the border. Gracias Pros: Excellent service more

$40 for chips and salsa 8/22/2009

I stopped by La Costita with a friend today and ordered the Pina Rellena. My friend ordered the enchilada with the chille relleno and we both had the hibiscus tea. When my plate arrived, a whole pineapple cut in half and covered in melted cheese was presented to me. After pulling back the layer and cheese to taste the shrimp and fish that might lay in the bottom of the sauce, I saw 4 shrimp and a couple of pieces of what tasted like fish that had been frozen for years. It was absolutely terrible. I tried to finish it but couldn't get past a few bites. The pineapple was literally covered in cheese so you couldn't see the pathetic excuse for a dinner they try and pass it off as. I politely explained to my waiter that the fish did not taste fresh at all and asked to have the chile relleno and an enchilada. How can a Mexican restaurant mess that up right? Now I know that chile relleno is supposed to have a lot of cheese but it was just too much. The enchilada was smothered in cheese as well. I had just had a years supply of cheese from the previous dish. The waiter couldn't have cared less. They only charged me for the plate I did eat, but that was the least they could do. The hibiscus tea was too sweet, the salad they gave me with my plate tasted like the leftovers you get from peeling a carrot. On a lighter note, I did have the Pozole that someone brought me after eating at La Costita, and it was pretty good. Pros: The Pozole was good Cons: Bland and horrible quality food, cold service, overpriced. more

Fast service and friendly staff 8/3/2009

We had previously planned on eating somewhere else and that went horribly bad so in a pinch, my sister-in-law called around and found us this place. They were wonderful, got us right in, sat us and had drinks on our table within the first 10 minutes. We only had about an hour to eat and get to the place we were going that night and this place met that requirement and then some. The staff was very nice and the food was good. Thank you and I hope this helps people. This place was is a wonderful oasis, especially compared to the dive we went to before. NEVER EAT AT CHEZ JOSE!!! Pros: Excellent margarita selection Cons: N/A more

The pearl does not have Mexican food so we came to the burbs 3/23/2009

Great food. We all enjoyed our meals. The service was good and quick and I found the margarita to be delicious. Our total for three of us was $49 before tip with only one alcoholic drink. We will be back! more

AWESOME TEQUILA SELECTION 1/21/2009

Tequila is definitely my favourite spirit & I was pleasantly surprised at the vast amount of choices they had to choose from. I especially like how they let me decide what type of tequila I wanted in my margarita, which turned out to be a margarita I continue to dream of. The salsa is delicious & the bartenders are extremely friendly & accomodating. I frequent there as of often as time & money allows. Pros: Every type of tequila you can imagine. Cons: I can't live there. more
