been here twice now and it's been excellent each time. Reading the reviews and getting a recommendation from friends, we were expecting much more from this restaurant. The food was fine, but nothing spectacular. Maybe they just had an off night. It was also odd that we were the only party in the entire restaurant for over an hour. Even at 8 pm when we left, the place was pretty empty. I know the economy is bad, but people still frequent the top restaurants. Maybe it is a sign that it is not as popular. \r \r Since there are so many favorable reviews, I would have to recommend you try this restaurant for yourself, but maybe would recommend nearby Valentino's first as their food is really amazing. more

We arrived at 8:00 for our reservation and waited for 35 minutes for a table. No problem. Upon being seated, the waiter threw menus at us and asked if we wanted sparkling or still water. Tap please. He rushed off, and we waited...and waited....and waited. After 20 minutes, I flagged down a bus boy and begged for water and our waiter. Water arrives, but no waiter. Still waiting. We asked the woman at the front desk for our waiter. Now not as patient. The waiter arrives and proceeds to YELL at us that he was extremely busy and if we couldn't live with that then he would just see to it that we got another waiter. I am not kidding. He was yelling. We agreed another waiter would be better. The new waiter arrived and took our order. The first two courses were good, but we WAITED (without complaint) at least 30 minutes after completing them for the main course. During dessert, the woman who seemed to be in charge strolled by and asked if we were OK now. We explained that we felt we had been treated poorly by the waiter. She defended him saying that he was their most popular waiter. We countered that we were looking for service, not personality. Sorry, she said. That was it. In this economy, I would think a restaurant would take more steps to ensure every customer was happy with their food and their service. If this restaurant doesn't make it in this economy, I'll just say to myself, ""sorry."" Unless you like to wait, I would avoid this place like the plague! I come to Los Angeles a few times a year and love to eat out. Every once in a while I discover a new restaurant and this is one of them. I really enjoyed a dinner at La Botte the other evening. My friends took me there desparate to get me away from my old haunts and they were right. The pasta was superb, great wine list and the bread was even amazing. I tasted a bit from everyones plate and the meat and fish were cooked to perfection. \r My only issue was how dark the room is. I've been here a number of times and the food has always been great. Last night was no exception. However, the service was poor last night. We ordered two 1/2 bottles of wine and ended up pouring them ourselves. To add insult to injury, the waiter forgot to include one of the 1/2 bottles on our check, but alas remembered just in time to hand us an adjusted check before we signed our credit card statements. This is by far the best restaurant in LA. The food is incredible. I have been here several times and never had a bad dish. The manager is incredible. He is friendly informative, and knowledgeable, he makes the whole experience. I can't imagine reviews where people did not like this place. more

I was there with couple of my girlfriend to enjoy our once a month get together.One of my agent recommened to try the Chef menu.It took a little longer for our Antipasti to be served, but the excellent wine that waiter suggested make the wait less painful.The only thing that make us very uncomfortable is the Chef Luigi try so hard to flirt with us, I guess Italian men doesn't understand that the girls night out don't mean that we are avaliable. Delicate flavours and human-sized portions make this restaurant cosmopolitan. The location is also a plus, and the service pleasant, helpful and efficient. While not inexpensive, there is definitely value for money for serious food and wine-lovers. The crab linguine was a particular favourite. more

I have been to this restaurant twice and the second time I went was even better than the first. The first time, I was amazed at the quality of the food and the waitors are very attentive and knowledgable. I eat out at these types of restaurants once a week and this place is, by far, one of my favorites.\r The second time I went, the General Manager of the restaurant recognized me and sent me complimentary dessert that was nothing less than amazing! I can not compliment the service or food enough. The only downfall was that the wine was overpriced. Every time I come here, I like it even more. This is exactly what a high-end Italian restaurant should be. The food is amazing (inventive and impossibly tasty), the wine list is wonderful, and the service is perfect -- helpful but unobtrusive. I'd highly recommend this for any sort of special occaision, or if you're just in the mood for an excellent meal. For appetizers, anything fish or seafood-based is good, and for entrees, meat and game are the way to go. On the wine list, let the sommalier help you -- he's never steered me wrong. My experience at La Botte was fantastic. I went with 2 other friends and we were all agreed it was exceptional very pricey but worth it. I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the country and I would say this was comparable. We order from the Prix Fixe Menu every dish served was brillant.\r The pastas you could tell were made from scratch the selection of mushrooms they served with the pasta delicious. The fish was so good I would compare to Le Bernadine in New York thats how good it was. Dessert of the 3, I tasted I could not make up my mind which I liked the best. The service was wonderful. We went here for a birthday celebration and were more than impressed! The staff (especially Antonio) were very attentive and informative about the food and wine selections. We tried the six course prix-fixe meal and while it was expensive ($70 per person), it was worth it for a special occasion. Each night the chef makes different selections. We loved the food and the ambience. We lived in Italy for a time and felt like we were back there - very authentic. Highly recommended for special occasions. We will be back.
