Kushiyu

We have been going to Kushiyu for years and watched it go down the drain recently with a new manager. The last visit put us over the top and we will NEVER return. On Saturday night, 5 of us from 2 households met at Kushiyu. On Sunday, I am throwing up profusely and get a call from the other family asking if I was sick. We realized 3 out of 5 of us were contaminated with bacteria or a virus. And it was the albacore because only us 3 had it. So, we call the restaurant and say we'd appreciate a credit back to our card after this incident. This rude new manager (Shawn?) says - ""Bring me the hospital bill and I'll consider it, I have to go now"". He did not even bother asking what we ate so he can avoid others getting sick!!! This place has become a madhouse for money and service has gone to hell. I know of several other establishments in the san fernando valley with better sushi nowadays. Needless to say, I will NEVER return to kushiyu again. Hopefully this saves someone money and a lot of anger by avoiding Kushiyu altogether. Meanwhile, I wonder when my next bout of throwing up will be coming :-( more

The sushi here is amazing at great prices. The sushi bar is where the action is. You will not have had better spicy tuna anywhere, I guarantee it. Pros: Spicy tuna, quality of fish, selection Cons: Can't think of any. more

Love to go to this place. We always have to order the albacore sashimi appetizer (with red onions and little jalapeno peppers), salmon tower, and johnny roll (not usually on the menu, but you can still order it -- shrimp tempura roll wrapped with spicy tuna). Kim Basinger was there last time we were, but despite celebrity sightings this restaurant is not pretentious at all. more

I have be to sushi joints all over the creation. This is one of the best I have encountered. They even serve grilled tongue. more

I drive from Pasadena to go here. THe first time you enter you will be overcome by the smell of fish, it has to be fresh right? The Sushi is beyond good, the tuna rice cakes are unbelieveable and the seabass from the grill is like BUTTER!! Pros: Sushi and Anything from the grill Cons: Always crowded more

This is not your typical sushi joint. The food is unbelievable, the service is great. I love that you can go there for late dining. more

This place is sooooo BOMB! They have the most amazing appetizers and the most creative sashimi paired with superb sauces. The albacore sashimi appetizer is the most ridiculously good thing I've ever eaten. You finish it in one second and are ready for another one. The tuna sashimi is also excellent and comes in an amazing spicy blended sauce with really good veggies. Anything from the Kushi grill is great too. I consider Kushiyu's special menu to be 90% Japanese & 10% French. In tastes, style, selection and preperation. Absolutely a hit! ONE OF THE BEST! more

The worst service i have ever received from a supposedly ""wonderful""restaurant. Very rude owner. Cares nothing about making his customers happy. more
