Our piano tuning business started in May of 1974. Dean Kramer, the owner, apprenticed for one and a half years at the Ostrander Piano Shop in Dillsburg, PA. By the fall of 1974, we were advertising and building up a clientele base for piano tuning. In March of 1977, the business was expanded to become a retail store for used pianos. Our first two stores were in Union Bridge, MD, in buildings which were rented. In November of 1978 our current building was purchased in New Midway, MD. In 1985, we started selling new pianos along with the used pianos. In 1984, we expanded our store to include piano lessons. Then in 1990 we expanded Kramer?s Piano Shop to include music book inventory. We currently stock 8,500 piano and guitar books. 2007 marked the start of our ?Music Gift Boutique.? We are a family-owned and operated business. Dean started the business as a seventeen year old piano tuner. Lois Kramer, Dean?s wife, has worked alongside him for thirty-five years. Two of our daughters are piano teachers, one of which teaches at Kramer?s. Dean?s mother, Fern Kramer, also teaches at the store. Over the years, Dean?s brother, sister, sister-in-law, and a cousin have also been employed at Kramer?s. The rest of our staff is highly valued and skilled at their areas of expertise in serving our customers. We currently serve 4,000 to 5,000 customers, with many occasional customers. Kramer?s Piano Shop tunes for three public school systems, several colleges, and over three hundred churches. Our tuning area includes a four state region, (Pa., Md., Va., and WV), as well as Washington, D.C. We move pianos throughout the east coast. Our staff has tuned over 67,531 pianos since we have been in business. At Kramer?s, you will find our staff to be friendly, knowledgeable, and trained to serve with excellence. Our technicians are members of the Piano Technicians Guild and attend seminars at their conventions for further training. We constantly strive to be a store and staff known for integrity, and good character. We are members of NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants.) We attend the yearly conventions to carefully choose our product lines. We also attend many seminars each year as well, in order to better serve our customers. Kramers Piano Shop is a member of the Frederick Chamber of Commerce, networking with many other small businesses. Our goal is to constantly strive to be a ?five star? business in our products, service, knowledge, and how we treat our customers. Our store is located in northern Frederick County, in the small town of New Midway, MD. We have plenty of parking available to make your experience at our store enjoyable. We have sold over 3,200 pianos since 1974, and continue to keep the relationships with our customers ongoing through tuning their pianos, and our other areas of service. Trade-up Policy If you?ve recently purchased a piano from Kramer?s and are looking to upgrade to another piano, our policies are as follows: ?Piano must be tuned and serviced by K.P.S. technicians two times each year. ?Piano must be maintained in excellent condition (inside and out), as it was when it was delivered to your home. ?Piano must be kept in a climate controlled environment(42% average humidity), or have a climate control system installed and maintained. Trade-up ? (must be toward more expensive model to qualify) 0 ? 1 years????..we will apply 90% of what you paid. 2 ? 3 years???? we will apply 80% of what you paid.
