Terrible Dr. unless you agree with everything she says 5/5/2010

The Dr. came in, asked a couple of questions, went away for an hour and came back for 5 minutes with a prescription for a muscle relaxer and an inhaler. We refused the muscle relaxer and she went away in a huff. Not very professional. Our daughter has lots of allergies including medicines. But the Dr. did nothing to try to understand the situation. Just was upset when we refused the muscle relaxer. Will not go back to Huron Valley again! Cons: Terrible bed side manner, did nothing to determine the issue more

From ER to Admission 10/23/2009

I went to the ER because I peaked several times with a very high temp. The admitting Dr. examined me and I told him that I had had asthma many years ago, yet he put asthma on my chart several times as the reason for admittance. I was administered a blood thinner that I did not need because I was mobile and not bed ridden. There were other tests that I felt were duplicated. In the future, I will ask WHY when they want to run tests or administer shots. The previous reviews were written in 05 - this is 09 and things have changed at HV and I think it's primarily due to the economic downturn. I think that HV admitted me because they are in need of filling beds and need the insurance dollars. Pros: Clean - great nurses Cons: Staff did not listen to my concerns more

Twice in 8 Years is Two Times Too Many 5/27/2009

I hadn't been to Huron Valley since my third daughter was born there 8 years ago. Then, I encountered doctors who refused to break my water but insisted that I need pitocin and a nurse who belittled me when I told her it was time to push. My daughter was nearly born in the bathroom. I went back to Huron Valley today with knee pain and swelling. I was quickly triaged and taken to a room where the doctor arrived within minutes. He rushed out in the middle of our conversation, but came back quickly. He spent very little time actually looking at my knee, but explained in detail his knee problem and even showed me his scar. He insisted that my knee problem is the same as his and that I should have physical therapy. He then rushed out of the room a second time. 20 minutes later, I approached the desk nurse to ask if I had been forgotten. She curtly told me to wait for discharge papers. After another 20 minutes, I walked back to the desk and announced that I was leaving. I was told that I needed discharge papers. I said that I had been waiting a long time and would like to leave. Another nurse informed me that I had not been waiting a long time, ""3 hours is a long time."" I left. I will not return. Pros: There aren't many other hospitals nearby. Cons: Staff I encountered assumed rather than listening. more
