King's Greenhouse 8/21/2009

King's Greenhouse is the best place to go to find hard to find plants and quality plants. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but the staff is exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable. They also carry beautiful containers for planting, and have a little gift shop in the greenhouse where you can get adorable ideas.\r \r Susan \r www.borgosltd.com more

King's Greenhouse is very knowledgeable 7/31/2009

King's Greenhouse is very nice and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about all types of plants. They can help you pick the best plant. The only downfall is I felt they were a little over priced but I would recommend them because of the service and knowledge. more

Wonderful plants! 6/27/2009

King's Greenhouse is the best place to go for plants! Their staff is extremely helpful and the extra price you'll pay for plants is well worth it. You get what you pay for at this nursery! more

customer for life 1/3/2009

i have been going to Kings ever since we moved to Indian Trail.I would recommend them over any greenhouse i been to and.the customer service is one of the main reasons i go there but the quality of their plants is far beyond all the larger stores in a 30 mile radious of charlotte Pros: service Cons: none more

Great variety and prices! 5/11/2008

I have been ordering plants online for years with great success. The large hardward stores do not offer the variety I enjoy in my garden. Kings has a great selection and very reasonable prices. Not a weekend goes by in the Spring and Summer that I don't stop in. I have had 100% success with their plants during the transition from their garden to mine. I really like the option to buy young plants at a few dollars. I like to see the flowers go through the blooming cycle and the price is well worth the wait. more

Great Nursery 4/6/2008

This is an awesome nursery. They have a tremendous selection of nursery plants, trees, and shrubs. They have a designer on staff that puts together the most creative arrangements. They are not the cheapest nursery price wise, but you definitely get quality product at this nursery. more

Best Garden Center 1/13/2008

I do not know where windomearle went, but the Kings Greenhouse I went to was completely different. I did not smell cigar smoke, just the fragrent blooms of their many plants. Pros: Great Plant Selection, Overly Helpful Staff Cons: Not enough parking on busy days more

NOT FIT FOR A KING 1/23/2007

When you visit King's Greenhouse the first thing you will notice is the stench of cigar smoke in the air, and if this is not offensive enough you can watch the staff hide when a customer walks in. It is a shame that the level of customer service has declined so much in the past few years as it was not the case previously. The plant selection is O.K. in the spring and fall although a bit generic at best. If you know what you are looking for and need no assistance King's will be adequate enough, if you are looking for helpful knowledgable people I would recomend either Colchester Nursery and Gardens, or Young's Garden Center in Pineville(a bit off the beaten path but well worth the drive). Pros: healthy looking plants Cons: poor customer service more

Very helpful staff, inviting atmosphere 8/9/2006

As soon as you walk into King's Greenhouse you are greeted by one of the employees, who is usually holding a hose, and always ready to help. On Saturdays the place can get very hectic, but if you can make it in during the week it is so peaceful. They almost always have a great selection, if they don't have what you want usually it is two or three weeks until they get it again. Unless it is something they just don't carry. Another great thing is they aren't like other places that will carry any old plant and tell you it's perennnial. The staff is eduacted about what will work in this area and that is what they sell. They won't sell you a Lemon tree without telling you to bring it in during the winter. This is getting long, just trust me when I say that they know what they are talking about and the whole place is beatuiful and well kept up. more

  • King's Greenhouse was started in 1971 by Dot and David King. Their initial operation consisted of growing vegetable plants in peat pots and other annuals. They sold to independent hardware stores and garden centers in the Matthews/Monroe area. This business was operated from December to May each year. In 1989 Craig and Jeanie Leonard bought the Business from the Kings and began operating year round. The plant list grew to include poinsettias, pansies, garden mums and a small variety of perennials. In 1992, the business was incorporated and Craig's brother Larry and wife Jean joined the business. King's Garden Center is located on the original location which is two acres of land in Stallings, NC. We have 14,000 square feet of greenhouse space and approximately 30,0000 square feet of outdoor shopping area under a canopy of pine trees. The Stallings location began to focus on the Retail market in 1994 as Stallings and the surrounding area continued to attract new home owners. We started to convert the Greenhouses from a production facility to a customer friendly shopping facility. The Propagation Greenhouse became our Gift Shop by creating a store front look within the greenhouses, the house became the office, the garage became the checkout, the vegetable garden became the annual area, the open field become the parking lot. The Garden Center first featured what we grew at the FARM: annuals, herbs, vegetables, perennials, and poinsettias. In later years we added products from other regional growers, like trees, shrubs, and house plants, as well as a gift shop, containers, soils, fertilizers, and anything else needed to make us a one stop Garden Center. King's Greenhouses Farm and Wholesale grew significantly between the years 1989 and 1996. To handle the increase in sales, greenhouses throughout the area were leased (Monroe, Mint Hill, University area). In 1996, land was acquired (Monroe Area) and what we now refer to as The Farm was born. Our growing range is located on 32 acres of land. We utilize approximately 6 acres of this for indoor and outdoor growing. We built what today is a combination of gutter houses, Quonset's and shade structures. We have cool cell houses (greenhouse version of air conditioning), automatic roll-up curtains, retractable roofs and vented roofs. This provides us with state of the art greenhouses to grow annuals and perennials in a controlled environment. Our plant products have grown to include a vast variety of perennials in quarts and gallons, herbs, spring and fall annuals in 606's, 1801's, 1001's, 6 pots, hanging baskets, specialty size pots and poinsettias. The Farm services a market area of a 180 mile radius. Our target market includes Independent Garden Centers, Commercial Landscapers and Fund Raisers.
