KINGS IS KING! 6/12/2007

Kings 8/21/2006

Nice place. I would have to say, the only problem here is that the service button to get your balls back is NOT QUICK...sorry/I know; when you want to bowl, you gotta bowl....Plus after a few drinks, & the people that are with you might apply some pressure. Oh, one more thing, make sure that you ask or check with the front desk before going down there about whether there are leagues or parties....you'll never get a lane. P.S. the pool area is fine....never really a wait there so you can play that in the mean time. more

hip and trendy bowling 6/18/2006

For the bowling enthusiasts who need privacy and concentration, this is not the place...but for those who might roll a granny-style shot down the lane after a few drinks, this place is perfect. It is a 21+ establishment, as it also serves as a bar. The bowling lanes are clean, flashy, and modern, and there is even a private area with a few secluded lanes (i assume parties and such can be arranged there). There are also about a dozen pool tables. The prices for both are pretty expensive, but if you work in the bar/food service biz, check it out on monday nights for industry night - free bowling after 9pm. The waits are usually long, so get there early and have some drinks while you wait for a lane. Drinks are expensive too, but the bartenders are usually very attractive women... more

Not Just Bowling 4/16/2006

All right, the main attraction here is obviously the bowling. However, if you're unwilling to wait for hours for a lane, then it's still not a bad place to relax and mingle. There's usually a live band, a great drink selection, pool, and cool people. Indeed, the place gets crowded fast, so if you really do want to bowl, make sure you get here early. Otherwise, you could easily find yourself waiting until closing time on a busy night. more

Long wait if you want to bowl 4/15/2006

There's always a crowd here. It's a very large space, so the crowd's not a big deal unless you want to bowl. There's often a 2 hour wait for a lane to open up. The interior's nice though, rather swanky. Drinks are priced average for this type of place. Good place to hang out with friends. more

Great Place though a bit Pricey 3/8/2006

This is a great place to bowl. It is a little expensive compared to other bowling alleys in the are but I still think it is worth the visit. It has a great feel once you step inside and it is always a fun time. The lanes are really good and they have decent food. I definetley recommend it even though it is a bit pricey more

Upscale and a lot of fun 11/14/2005

Kings as it is known, is a great place to go with friends, have a very nice drink, and oh yeah, play a few strings of bowling. A game is more expensive than others, but you are paying for atmosphere and the social aspects of bowling, more than the game itself. Go there on a weekday and you will most certainly see a large number of the after work crowd unwinding from the office. more

Awesome for Bowling, A Little Steep Though 8/19/2005

This is an excellent place to go for bowling and drinks after work. Its a great place to relax and unwind. Unfortunately, the drinks and the bowling are a tad bit expensive so I only go once about every three weeks. They have a nice pool table section and cosmic bowling if that strikes your fancy (no pun intended). Wicked cool time. more

Fun, retro, (but expensive!) upscale bowling alley! 8/15/2005

King's is the bowling alley that you can go to if you don't want to be seen "bowling" - it is for those kids that are too cool for school... it is right downtown, right near the posh Back Bay neighborhood, and it really can be described as upscale. I must admit that I have been impressed with how cool King's is. The lighting is exciting (glow-in-the-dark; neon, etc), and the decor takes you back to the disco days. The drinks are extremely overpriced and so is the bowling, but it is a great place to go for a special occasion. I was there for one stop on a bachelorette party and they really took care of us. Everyone had tons of fun. I would recommend it, but only for special occasions... if you are serious about bowling, there are less expensive options... unless you are too cool for those places... then King's is it for you! more

Ladies Night on Tuesdays 8/12/2005

My friends and I heard a rumor that King's had Tuesday ladies night...so being the recently-graduated-from-college-poor-young-professionals that we are, we decided to make the trip over there and check it out. Indeed Tuesday nights are free bowling for ladies after 8 PM. However, beware that the shoe rental is not included in this deal (so be prepared to fork over a few bucks if you don't have your own bowling shoes). In addition, King's allows only 2 games per group (this applies during peak hours, such as Tuesday evenings and on weekends). After your allotted 2 games, you can be put on the "wait list" to play another free 2 games. Final note - ladies night is only applicable to 21+ individuals. King's has a great lounge and bar that we chilled in while waiting. The drinks are good, but expensive. Each drink was ~9-12 dollars. King's resembles an upscale bar that happens to have bowling - instead of a "typical" bowling alley. The crowd was mostly 30s to middle aged, so young adults may feel quite *young*. more
