Polite, Professional, and Caring 5/31/2011

As the mother of two boys, I have been into more than one Pediatric office. Kids first is by far the best! Not only do they manage to see their patients (sick or well) in a timely fashion, but they also bend over backwards to treat my family with kindness and respect. The office is spotlessly clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the Doctors are wonderful. I have seen almost all of them, and everyone has been more than willing to answer questions and spend the extra time to interact with my kids. The staff has truly saved me on several occassions by gathering paperwork or faxing records on a moment's notice. Kids first pediatrics is everything you should be looking for in the sometimes confusing quest for quality child health care. more

They get it! 5/14/2011

I'm a single mom by choice and have my hands full with my son who like so many others is on the PDD spectrum. As many parents of children with autism know this is a disease very few doctors know anything about - they especially don't know how to handle our kids! Well let me tell you about my son's first visit with Dr Forletti at Kids First Pediatrics. At this point I was doctor shopping to find someone who would treat my son as a person - he's 17 and has Aspergers and is really in your face with attitude or just shuts you out and in the past all of his doctors just get turned off and talk to me like he isn't even in the room. So anyway Dr Forletti walks into the room apologising for running late and tries to engage my son. My son is mad 'cause he doesn't want to be there and has shut down. After a few moments this doctor is talking non-sense and talking about video games and movies and TV and his childhood and all of a sudden I realize he is talking to my son and my son is talking to him and then the doctor is examining my son - but you have to understand my son never lets anyone get close to him - and my son is laughing and taking off his hat and sweat shirt without me telling him! The next thing I know I'm crying because no doctor has ever gotten my son to talk let alone laugh or answer questions. And without breaking a stride Dr Forletti whips out Kleenex for me and then some water for me and then answers all of my questions and my son's questions, too! In about 20 minutes he's not only gotten my son to talk but he had handout for us to read and as we left my son gave him one of those crazy handshakes and asked me when we can come back to see Dr Forletti again!! Take it from a mom who knows - if your child has special needs you need this practice - they get it - they know how to talk to kids with special needs. more

Best Pediatric Office Around 5/11/2011

My wife and I love this practice! We have 4 school-aged children and usually one of them is sick. Kids 1st has 2 offices and there are about 6 docs and 2 PAs so we can always get in the day we call and since they have late nights 4 days per week I can bring them in after work or after their sports practice. Although it appears to be a big practice we can always make an appointment for their school and sports physicals with the doc we want (boys to Dr Forletti, girls to Dr Oleszak) so we get the individualized attention we want. The office can do blood work right there and get the results in minutes - we don't have to wait - or like some practices come in for another visit (and co-pay) just to discuss the results. Everybody is there to help from the receptionists (who always help with forms, etc) to the people in billing (help straighten out the insurance mess). The rooms are clean and the floors sparkle! Let me share a few thoughts about small practices. When we had our first girl my wife and I thought a solo pediatrician would be the way to go - it was good for us and it would be good for our honey. Forget about that paradigm - that ship has sailed! Our first doctor had only 1 late night a week; except for our initial interview with her we always saw a nurse practitioner; the office was often closed because she needed a day off or was on vacation - we had to drive to a few different docs offices over the first year. Do yourself - and your kids - a favor, visit Kids 1st and talk to the docs and see for yourself what the office has to offer. more

This place should be shut down---the WORST! TERRIBLE! RUN! 6/10/2009

We chose this place because it was close by and had 6 pediatricians to see if our children were sick. Let's start w/the office staff--rude, not helpful, argumentative, and they are cannot keep anyone there long enough on staff. We could NEVER get an appointment with a pediatrician, it was always a PA. They are green, clinically lacking staff members who are nothing more than textbook practitioners. There is NO clinical background whatsoever and it is dangerous. They mis-prescribed, or never prescribed, or misdiagnosed. Something always went wrong with a visit, always. The final straw was when my son got off the school bus, sick as a dog, and completely lethargic. I RUSHED him there and they would NOT see him b/c I didn't make an appointment. Meanwhile, he was burning up and they made me put a mask on him. I demanded a doctor come and see him and they sent the post-menopausal nurse out to talk to me. She said (I swear) that it could be allergies, and to take him home, give him benadryl, and if he was still sick they would try to squeeze him in the next day. I drove to Dr. Nataloni in Mount Sinai, and the staff took us right away even though we were not patients and they didn't know us at all. My son ended up having strap throat and coxsacci virus (sp)!!! I got an apology from one MD at Kids First, but I got the medical charts and got out of there FAST. How can you turn away a SICK child????!!!! Pros: I wanted NO STARS for a rating but site wouldn't allow it. Cons: Dangerous, potentially fatal, run away from this place FAST! more

Worst Pediatric Practice on Long Island 12/22/2007

Was a different practice when Dr. Nataloni was there, but now, it has gone down the tubes. Horrible PA's that are limited in their knowledge and have a terrible bedside manner with children, especially the one named Danielle. As far as I'm concerned, they are a dangerous practice, that does not abide by their medical journal guidelines, too quick to prescribe meds and a lot of them and not open to any natural approach that might work better than what they know or can prescribe. Stay away from this practice! Cons: Dangerous more
