Initially liked it...until 2/15/2009

I visited this store on Saturday 2/14/2009. Initially, I thought they were professional and made an appointment for 3:00pm. I had both my kids so I dropped off the stuff I wanted to sell and asked the rep how long it would take before going through both my boxes and she said about 30 minutes. I told her than that I would be back in 30 minutes after I fed the kids because I had both my 6 year old boy and my 13 month old daughter with me and I did not want them running through the store. The rep agreed and said ok. We left, ate lunch, and came back 45 minutes later and were told they needed another 30 minutes to look through the stuff. I left again, this time to Starbucks up the street and came back at a little before 5pm and as soon as I walked in, noticed an exact replica of my girl’s Gymboree onesie “I “heart” daddy” on the display behind the counter. By the way, in the release I signed for them, I said that I do not preauthorize the amounts they gave me so they may not put my stuff up for sale without me agreeing to the amount. Needless to say they weren’t done “looking through” but this time I went to another rep and she said that once I leave the store, they actually stop looking at my stuff because they assume I will come back when they call “maybe a day later”. Couldn’t the first rep have told me this? I would have not left in the first place! Anyway, I stayed and watched them pick through my stuff hastily. They picked out a couple of things and said $15 cash or more for store credit. I took the cash. I assumed that someone else must have had the same Gymboree onesie and did not ask about it until I got home and looked through my leftover stuff to make sure mine was still in the boxes. I could not find it; that was her top! I can’t believe they just took it like that and didn’t think I would notice. I will never go back there again and will let everyone I know how slimy they were. It’s not because the money, they would have only given me $2 for that top. It’s just the moral of “stealing”. Ugh! more

donate to charity, will make out better. 3/13/2008

Before visiting the Drexel Hill kid to kid store On March 7,2008. I went to their website to view the procedure for selling items. The site read that only toys in gift giving condition and high in clothing are accepted. Well, I gathered all of the excellent condition fisher price and leap frog learning toys my 2 yr old had. Her age should speak for itself, the toys were handled by adults during teaching time. I sold about 15 toys, which included working batteries. When I arrived at the store, the store manager wasn't very customer friendly he was made aware that this was my first time with disregard he rushed me along picking out the toys while tossing them from my box into their basket. "No this wont sell, no we don't need this okay we'll take this and call you later". I was stunned. Well I did receive a call Sat afternoon stating that I will be paid $10. I disagreed with this amt. I called the store back immediately during business hours, I was forwarded to the answering machine 3xs, I then emailed the company to request a pick up of the items.I would have felt better donating and then claiming on my taxes. I received a call that Monday stating too late items on the shelf. Oh not to mention you only have 3 days to pick up your money or you will get store credit only. when I went to pick up my millions I looked to see what my items were being sold for, well lets just say Kid to Kid will make $70 off of all the items I sold them and yes I made $10 (boy was that a steal Literally) Heck of a mark up huh. well needless to say I wont allow myself to be robbed again. One of life's learning lessons. more

better than any child store or boutique 2/8/2007

I wish I had known about this store before I had my daughter. I would have saved a ton of money. Now, I go to Kid to Kid for all of Dot's clothes and toys. I feel good knowing I am supporting a local small business as opposed to a giant corporation. And by selling and buying used clothes my family and I are part of the recycle effect that is needed to help our environment. more
