I keep giving them more chances. I don't know why. I have long been tired of the teenagers that work there, who pop gum, don't brush their hair and wear sweat pants to work. Oh, and whose cleavage I would prefer my children not have to see. However, the owner's attitude is exactly the same, so I'm not sure why I am surprised. (Though, I have never had to deal with her cleavage, thankfully. She does dress appropriately for work.) Don't ask where something is located while your'e there; they can't stop putting items away to help you. They just vaguely point.
Today was my final trip. I scored a Leap Pad at a consignment sale, and was looking for some books and cartridges. I called a few local stores. Despite me living in Apex, this Kid 2 Kid location is always my last stop. I called the Cary location first, and they said they weren't sure if they carried them, as it's old technology, but I should check to see if Apex had some. So, I did. On the phone, I was told yes, they do carry them, and she wasn't sure if any were in stock. Note, she didn't offer to check, or even take my number and call me back. So, I came in. Please note - I was clear about what I was looking for. I'm aware that it isn't made anymore, and I clearly communicated this fact.
I go in, don't find them, but find a few other games and such my kids would like. That's fine. I expressed to the lady checking me out that yeah, I was bummed they didn't have any. The owner was right there, and told me they didn't carry them at all. I told them I was frustrated because I specifically called and asked, if was told they definitely carried them. The lady checking me out argued with me, saying that only the buyers would know for sure. Fine! Then the girl on the phone should have said so. I informed her of this fact.
Here is where my mind is blown. At this point, instead of saying gosh, I will ensure that gets passed along, she actually said ""I'd be surprised if that actually happened."" Lady, I'm standing here and I just told you it did. You've already asked if I accidentally called another store. You are basically just accusing me of lying.
There were several ways this could've been handled, and I wouldn't have been frustrated. Just tell me it's not carried, apologize that I was told that on the phone, maybe even humor me and ask when I called so that you can pinpoint who made the mistake. I know that you probably won't follow up, but at least pretend you care. Or, instruct your employees to call people back if they are busy. You can even ask them to hold and ask the buyer. She knew immediately they weren't carried. I can't imagine it would've been that hard to ask her. Just don't accuse me of lying. That, frankly. pisses me off.
I have put up with the rude customer service for the past few years because of the convenience of this store, and I'm done. Just look at the reviews. I have always been polite, but they are just too busy to be bothered with customers. I am happy to drive from Apex to Raleigh's Chidlren's Orchard and the Cary Kid 2 Kid. It's worth it. I tend to find much better prices at the Children's Orchard anyway, and they are extremely polite.
