This is perhaps the worst Indian restaurant I've ever been to in USA. When I entered the restaurant, there was a Pakistani/Indian man who was whispering something to an underage Pakistani/Indian waitress. After a minute or two of staring at them, they very pessimistically offered me a table and asked me to wait for 5-10 minutes for their buffet to start, even when the restaurant was supposed to open at 11 and I entered at 11:35.\r \r The food itself was way below average, and it seemed that they used a lot of baking soda/powder to puff up the food so that the overall consumption may be automatically reduced. Most of the Indian restaurants in the U.S. play this trick, so I won't implicate KP if they are culprits too.\r \r Customer service was really ridiculous. The first glass of water (that too, warm) that was provided was the only glass offered. The under-aged waitress did ask me if I needed more water, but that was after I had finished my whole meal; pathetic! Even to pay the bill, I had to literally request the head-waiter, who seemed to be pretty uptight.\r \r I offered a $50 bill to pay for the buffet, and the waiter seemed annoyed as he didn't have change. Really? Anyway; I paid using a $20 note and the waiter didn't even care to provide me with the receipt. He probably didn't even enter the transaction in the system so that he can evade paying taxes on this transaction.\r \r When I asked the waiter for a receipt as I needed it for expensing, he bluntly picked one FROM THE GARBAGE and rudely offered it to me. I didn't want to touch that dirty piece of paper but I had no choice as I realized that I'm dealing with another pathetic Pakistani/Indian restaurant.\r \r I'm not surprised that no one eats at this place. Even in Chicago Downtown on a Friday afternoon, there were just two naive couples who entered the restaurant. I really wish that the managers of this restaurant soon realize that what they call a ""restaurant"" is actually a mess. more

Average Food, but don't trust them anymore. On about 3 occasions the food had been delivered beyond one hour, on one occasion the food was delivered in a state where the delivery boxes were broken and food spilled all over the delivery bag. Last order, the restaurant probably forgot my order! more

It has taken me months to find the right Indian food in Chicago! Khyber Pass delivered faster than expected and the food was great. They have the perfect Chicken Tikka Masala, great sauce and amount of spice. The nan portions are also large, so it's worth the higher price than other restaurants. I'd recommend ordering from them! more

Very good. I ventured beyond my regular Indian restaurant, because I was having trouble with the online menu. I pleased to find that the food was very good, the quantities were somewhat larger, and the price a bit lower. I intend to use Khyber Pass again. more

Best place for weekend all-you-can-eat brunch!! 11/3/2008

The lunch deal is only 9.95 and they have really freash food for their lunch buffet. The place is a little dim during that hour and there are usually not that many people. If you woke up late on Saturday morning, want to relex and get good food for cheap! This is the place to go to. Pros: Their lunch deal is super cheap Cons: It's a bit dark and it's hard to find. more

Really yummy. We had Lamb Curry and Butter Paneer, both were delicious and a good portion size. The only sort of disappointment was the 'Bread basket for 2' was just 2 breads. more

A culinary passage to India.

Owner Message
  • Tucked inside Columbus Plaza next to the Hyatt Regency on Wacker Dr is Chicago's newest restaurant spot. Owner, Jawid, created the first Khyber Pass in Oak Park, IL with great success, and now the legend continues here in the loop. Here you'll find the same successful menu that has kept Khyber Pass so popular. Drawing heavily from Pathan cuisine, the dishes are rooted from the historical passageway in India called the Khyber Pass.

The menu is filled with authentic recreations of traditional dishes like Tandoori breads, Dumbuc Khana (cooking in pot with steam) & Tandoori Khana (roasting over charcoal in a clay oven). You can experience a vast selection with the daily lunch buffet or enjoy a fine evening dinner with dishes served family style.

We can make any event special with private parties in our dining room or our customized catering menu. Just ask for Jawid.
