If you enjoy being treated poorly and paying too much, shop at Kennedy & Perkins. I've been wearing glasses and contacts for a decade now, so I've been a customer at many different eyewear shops, including mall staples such as Lenscrafters, and fancier independent boutique places. Kennedy & Perkins seems to be trying for the latter, but they only get as far as snobby customer relations and exorbitant prices. I needed new lenses for a pair of glasses that I had bought elsewhere, and this shop was by far the most convenient location. I called the shop to ask for a price quote, and the employee was nice enough, quoted me a reasonable price, and even let me know about a relevant coupon available from their website. However, when I went to the store, the experience went downhill rapidly. When I let the receptionist know that I was there to order new lenses, she told me bluntly to ""sit down over there"" and gestured to an empty seat. Over the next few minutes, several other employees spotted me and asked if I had been helped, but when they heard what I was there for, they dismissed me, apparently not thinking to go get whoever in the store can actually deal with orders for lenses. When someone who *could* help me came over, she acted like no one had let her know that I was there to see her. After she sat down and took my information, she first quoted me a range of prices that were both higher than the prices I had been quoted over the phone. 5 minutes later when she was writing down my order, she then quoted a price breakdown that even *higher* than that! When I asked her about the sudden jump in pricing, she wouldn't admit it, instead looking at me like I was crazy or stupid. Finally, I decided on a set of $110 lenses. When I presented her with the coupon page that a different receptionist had recommended previously, the woman working with me stared down her nose at me and said ""Yes, I'll just go...clip this coupon."" It was a coupon for $25 off replacement lenses, and she called to me from across the room that the new price would be $90 for my lenses. Excuse me? 110-25=90? No. I should have called her on it, but by that point, I just wanted to get out of there. I was so fed up with the way that I was being treated that I decided against shouting back to her, in favor of just paying the money and leaving. By the way, all of this happened after I let her know that even though I was just ordering lenses now, I was also in the market for a whole new pair of glasses. I was even thinking of getting them at Kennedy Perkins, since they carry some cute frames. I will never give these people my business again. I would rather shop at Lenscrafters and have a less-trendy selection but be treated well, than be treated with disdain at this snooty shop. more
