Worth your time to find a less convenient location 2/10/2010

The sales space is about the size of a closet, but the staff still feel the need to scream at you as they push their selections onto you. Nevermind what you like. Also, the hours are TERRIBLE. The bad news is that they must be related to either the doctor or each other -- neither of them is ever being replaced. Pros: Kenmore Square Cons: This is like Durgin Park but for eyeglasses more

Excellent Doctor and Staff 8/15/2009

My baby niece scratched my eye, I was able to get in to see the doctor on an emergency appointment. He was such a nice man and an excellent doctor. I was recommended to go there by a friend and I am so glad I did. I can't wear my contacts for a bit, so I bought a great pair of Lacoste glasses for really good price. Thanks Dr. B and Kenmore!!! The best Eye Doctor and Store in Boston! 8/12/2009

I had a great exam, they took my insurance from Children's Hospital, I got contacts covered under my insurance and extra boxes for cheap. I also got a back-up pair of glasses for 99 bucks- lens and frame! Great deal. Friendly service. Great place. Pros: Terrific Doctor, Great prices Cons: None. more

Great Experience 3/13/2009

I had the most wonderful experience at Kenmore Optical. First of all, Dr. Bochnak was fantastic. He really spent quality time addressing my problem. He was so nice. I have never seen so well! Second, the glasses selection was phenomenal! They had Coach, Prada, Gucci, Kate Spade, Lacoste, CK, RL - I even tried on some cool Vintage glasses from the 60s! I ended up buying some really funky glasses called ProDesign from Denmark- really unique. I have never had so much fun picking out glasses. Great doctor! 5/21/2008

I just wanted to thank the doctors at Kenmore for their kindness. I had a really bad eye infection. The doctor I saw was so wonderful. I was kind of scared and he put me at ease and helped me. He basically saved my eyesight and I am so thankful. I have a new eye doc for life! Pros: The best place in town! more

fixed glasses 5/13/2008

i will say that i dont take good care of my glasses and they eventually fell apart which is why i needed to have them fixed. i took them to one of those big chain stores and they told me that they didnt have the correct parts to fix it and that it was not worth fixing and that i needed to buy a new pair. that is what brought me to kenmore where they fixed them on the spot for me .. thank you Pros: repairs done fast more

got a spare pair of glasses for their special deal for 99 bucks because i usually wear contacts and sleep in them but have to see when i take the contacts out. Pros: budget frames more

Kenmore Optical 5/12/2008

These people are out for your money. The doctor called my friend ""a broad"" and looked at me incredulously when i told him I didn't wear eye make-up often. They charged my friend 65 dollars for a ""contact lenses fitting"" she didn't know was happening and charged me 20 dollars for a minute long (literally one minute) ""follow-up"" appointment. I will never go back here. Also, the staff can be helpful to a point.. and then it gets ridiculous. They yelled and raved about how good some glasses looked, and put away ones they didn't like on me, despite the fact that I liked them. Not a very good experience at all. I'm upset I gave them any of my money in the first place. more

Doc's 2 cents 4/15/2008

I am a physician at a local hospital and our insurance plan, Spectera, is offered at this location for eyecare. This office is a quick T stop away from the longwood medical area. The staff helped me with the frame selection and options for eyeglass lenses. Although I did not pick a Spectera frame, they assisted me with the benefits. The optometrist performed a thorough exam and i was satisfied with his prescription. I was referred to this practice by a colleague and I shall do the same. Pros: location more

they are on my plan list for glasses and are close to my apt and off the kenmore t stop. the insurance plan glasses are the same everywhere but they had a great selection of designer frames that i chose instead. Pros: frames more

Great Place! 11/20/2007

I went to Kenmore Optical for an eye exam and new glasses. I was having trouble reading and the doctor was really nice and helped me. I got my first pair of progressives glasses and it is like I have new eyes! Great place- thanks for all the help! Pros: Definite Thumbs Up! more

Best Opical I have ever been. Just avoid it! 11/16/2007

The people in Kenmore Optical committed several mistakes:\r 1. The doctor picks lenses up from the ground and puts them on people's eyes.\r 2. The lenses have scratches that are not easy visible but once you put them to light they become evident.\r 3. They don't respond for those problems.\r 4. The woman in the entrance hates people; she just does not want to help anybody. If you are there, you are guilty.\r 5. They don't make changes, refund money or respond for their mistakes.\r 6. The ""doctor"" is very unprofessional; the worst I have seen.\r 7. Avoid this place; they will charge a lot for a very poor job,... and a very bad treat. saved lenses from broken frame 10/13/2007

i broke my glasses saturday and wanted to reuse my lenses in a new metal frame. i went to the copley mall stores and they said it could not be done and said i needed to buy a whole new pair. kenmore was able to save my lenses and put then into a new frame which saved me money. thank you Pros: fixed my glasses more

The BEST optometrist and optical shop in town! 2/28/2007

This was the most friendly and thorough experience I have ever had at an optometrist's practice. Dr. Bochnak showed his expertise in discussing all kinds of contact lens options available to me. I purchased contacts and eyeglasses, both of which were at very reasonable prices. My glasses were made perfectly and I was very pleased. Kenmore Optical has been in Boston for 65 years and that is for a reason- it is the best place in town! The staff was helpful and the selection of glasses was amazing! Thank you all for such a nice experience! I will be a patient at Kenmore Optical for life! Pros: Knowledgable Doctors and Staff! Cons: Too many good choices of glasses to pick from! I couldn't make up my mind! more
