  • What Is A Healthy Clinical Volunteer?

    A healthy clinical trial volunteer is an adult without any significant pre-existing health problems. Healthy volunteers contribute essential information about how the medication is distributed, absorbed and excreted by the body. They also help determine initial dosage levels for patient volunteers.

    During Your Stay

    A typical study at INC, formally Kendle, might involve staying at our facility for two nights on two separate occasions (periods). During each period you will receive one dose of each different study drug. By the end of the study you will have received the dose of the investigational drug (potential to be marketed as generic) and one dose of the marketed drug. During your stay at INC you take part in a number of study procedures, which may include blood draws and clinical examinations. You may also be scheduled to come back in for additional blood draws for the study. During your spare time you may watch T.V., read, play board games, do schoolwork, play with a gaming system or watch movies. Free WI-FI is also available.. The most commonly performed clinical studies in Morgantown evaluate investigational drugs made by generic companies and compare the drugs to products on the market.

    There is no cost to participate in a study.
    Each study has its own payment schedule. Kendle studies typically pay between $600-$1,400,depending on the study. Full payment is based on the successful completion of all aspects of the study.

    * Health Screening to determine eligibility

    During your screening appointment,which lasts approximately an hour and a half,the screening staff,with your consent,will:
    * Review your medical history
    * Explain to you the purpose of the study and its potential side effects and risks
    * Obtain a urine and blood sample from you
    * Perform an EKG test (a painless test of your heart)

    You must be able to pass a drug screen to participate. Before you leave your screening appointment,you will be scheduled to visit the physician during a separate visit. Upon successfully completing screening and meeting the study requirements,you will receive a phone call informing you of acceptance status.
