Unfortunately I had a similar experience with Karl Karr as the reviewer below. I moved into a new apartment in Philadelphia, and Karr’s removal service had been contracted to remove a piece of furniture left behind by the previous tenant. Unfortunately, he also removed all of the belongings we had already moved into the apartment, including wedding gifts worth around $1200. When I contacted Karl, I was met with a remarkable series of lies. On the phone, he always claimed he would immediately pay us back the full amount owed, but then would do nothing. It became increasingly difficult to reach him on the phone: when I called from my cell phone, he would not answer; calling from a different phone number would get him to pick up the phone. He would tell me that he was just stepping out of the car, and would call me back in a couple of minutes: no return call. He claimed that he was not receiving the emails I was sending him (to the email address on his business card). After a two-week silence, he claimed that a friend of his had died, and that he would now immediately send the check. No check arrived. I got my real-estate management company (Allan Domb Real Estate) involved, and on the phone, he would tell them every day that he would immediately contact me and send payment, but he never contacted me. Finally after a month, they put enough pressure on him that he wrote a check for $700 (just a little more than half of what he owed me). But I stopped fighting at this point because it was no longer worth my time. The result is I get back half of what I lost, and Allan Domb real estate will not do business with Karl Karr any more. I strongly advise that nobody else do business with Karl Karr either; he is blatantly dishonest, and on top of that, appears to run an inept removal service. I have never before encountered someone with such a total lack of shame. more

OK, this is a sad case. I spoke with Karl Karr about a quote for cleaning out my father's house. He estimated $1200 which was fine. His men came and cleaned out the house and he charged me exactly that. That was fine. While they were cleaning they stole my $500 iPod that was sitting on a desk in the office WHILE IT WAS PLUGGED IN AND PLAYING!!! They claim to have accidentally thrown it away, as if it could be mistaken for a piece of garbage. When asked to retrieve it from the truck, they claimed that it was buried under a mountain of garbage and that they couldn't get at it until they took the load to the dump. I was willing to let it slide as long as I got my iPod back. I allowed them to haul the load away and they promised to return the iPod to me once they had dumped the truck. I waited for Two weeks with no word. When I finally got a hold of Karl Karr, he claimed to have put it in the mail. Another two weeks, no iPod, no word. I called again and was given a fictional story about how he put it in a package for one of his guys to put in the mail, but his guy failed to do so. I called continuously for another two weeks with no response. Mr. Karr wouldn't even answer the phone. When I finally got a hold of him, I got a fictional story about how he had been sick. When I called back yet again, I got YET ANOTHER story about how he found it and it was sitting on his desk. He would mail it out personally. After more delays and fairytales, Karl Karr promised to mail me a check for the amount of the iPod. Guess what? NO CHECK. After months of lies and run-around, I was fed up. I was sick of this. Just own up to the fact that your guys are thieves. After I paid you for a $1200 job you guys think you can just steal from me? I don't even care about the iPod.
