Maple Leaf Cookies 7/15/2009

The Maple Leaf Cookies are the things dreams are made of. Family has been buying them from Stringtown for years. The cheese curds from the Cheese Factory are fabulous, and everyone should try them. When we come to visit the store we bring a kooler to fill. Thanks for being in business and hope you continue for years more

Great Cheese 10/24/2005

This is a great place to stop when you out for a Sunday Drive. We stop by this place whenever we go to visit my parents. My children love to watch the cheese curds mixing through the display window and I love their shop. They not only have great cheese curds but they also have meats, jelly, candy, etc. And they have great prices. I remember stopping there as a child with my parents and I hope my children will remember going with me as well. more

Cheese Factory 8/11/2005

Located north of Kalona a few miles on Highway 1. It is easy to get to this business. There is limited parking just outside the building and they accomodate tour buses. The Cheese Haus has an area where you can watch them making the cheese curds. The curds are what they are known for in this area. People call it squeaky cheese. You can eat it warm just after it is freshly made or get it out of the cooler so it is cold. It does come in different flavors. They offer samples of cheese that is for sale in the case. more

FRESH CHEESE!! 8/9/2005

This is a great little cheese factory in the heart of the Kalona Amish country. When you walk in, you can watch huge vats of milk be transformed into cheese curds! Inside you can get tours of the factory or you can spend time in their store. In the store they offer all types and unique flavors of cheeses - all made right in the factory. Nice sample selection - make sure you like it before you buy it. You can request FRESH WARM curds! Own parking lot. more

Cheese curds 8/7/2005

Located on the corner of Highway 1 and 540th Street just north of Kalona. You can see it from a ways away with the silo that has the name on it. When you first walk in, the smell of bleach is strong. You can watch them making curds through the windows. There are samples of cheeses to try. The chocolate cheese sounds gross, but is really pretty good. They are best known for the “squeaky cheese,” the cheese curds. more
