I used to always pass by KABU during the day thinking it was a strip club but when a friend recomended we go here for drinks, I was pleasantly surprised to find a nicely crowded nightlife experience. When we first arrived, we were greeted by some pleasant but firm spoken bouncers. They rejected the group in front of us, I believe it was due to a dress code they have there (they were wearing hats, shorts and sneakers). There was an entrance fee or the guys as the girls were allowed free; I got the scoop that the club lkes to fill up early so they'll give your pockets a break at the door. They pat down guys and peek inside ladies' purses. One guy with us was offended but at least we felt safe. Opening the second set of doors gets you greeted by a ticket collector and we were seated at some tables. The music was pumping on loud; a good mix of spanish and american club music. Honestly ,the played just about everything from Rumba, Reggeaton, Hip-Hop...etc. The waitresses were wearing these corset-like outfits that made ordering our drinks distracting. The dance floor was alive with a mid twenty to thirty crowd. The smoke machine output was a little overkill. We had a real good time. We learned that they just remodeled the downstairs VIP section; my friends had a private tour inside and said it looked crazy! They call it the Red Lounge and those looking to pay a little more botte service and looking for privacy get thei own DJ drink server and they said they saw a dance pole down there too! I got to come back there and check that out.
Pros: Lots of places to get a good meal before hand.
Cons: Parking is almost non-existent.
