Worst Owner and Manager 1/24/2011

Have been going to this place for about 2 years because it was close by and had decent food. The wait staff has always been extremely great and very pleasant. Unfortunately I will never go to this place ever again and will tell everyone I know to do the same. Their food has gotten extremely bad...too much salt on the all breakfast food and everything else is not cooked properly. They just put out a new menu and raised their prices by over a dollar. Pretty sure he did that because of his other failed businesses...a mortgage company that tanked along with other real estate investments. They don't take reservations...or I was told that when I called to make some. So we showed up an hour early to get a good seat for the football game. I sat at a table and then I was told to move because someone had reservations. So we moved to another table. Then at this table we were told to move again because of reservations. Then we finally got a table in their back room. So we were all watching the football games and enjoying our overpriced food and watered down drinks. Then with about 5 minutes left to go in the game we were told that we had to leave because someone else had reservations at our table and the Owner and Manager didn't even have the guts to tell us this themselves. They made a tiny 19yr old girl come up to 10 guys to tell them to move. She started to cry because she felt so bad to tell us and still no help from management. Completely classless establishment. We offered to share our table but they wanted us to move somewhere else entirely. If that wasn't enough, my wife and her friend were out on the patio getting some air and over heard the owner talking badly about us using profanity all over. What a classy man talking about the people who keep him in business. What's the funniest part of everything.....the people that wanted the reservations weren't even eating or drinking. more

Terrible Food - Overpriced - Lousy Service 1/24/2011

This place is just getting worse and worse. The food is getting more expensive. On the new menu everything has gone up. I paid $11 for a turkey club sandwich, which like the rest of their food is mediocre at best. If they were the only game in town, I'd say go for it ... With Zipps and 4 peaks so close, I just don't know how they stay in business. They also consistently attract a real abrasive type crowd which makes it unsuitable for children. I see kids there from time to time and immediately wonder what their parents are thinking. It is filled with drunks. I suppose people go there because they don't know the meaning of 'cutting someone off.' Just stay away. more

Awesome place for food drinks and poker 4/30/2009

How many places can you get $1 tacos, play a skilled game of free poker, rub elbows with some poker pros and have an all around good time? KO's in Scotts-town for one!!! This place is a great atmosphere - comfortable patio area - best free poker in town Tues and Sat and a special game on Mon - Real poker pros in the bar ( KO being one ) - if you wanted to you could complain straight to the owner cuz he's almost always there but you won't have reason to, see ya there! Pros: great happy hour deals and specials- best free poker in town more

Amazing! The steak was great! The shrimp was very flavorful! And the most amazing...the bacon wrapped asparagus! Wow! The service was great too! Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Food is good but the service could use some help! 9/2/2008

The bartender, a guy with a shaved head, was pretty rude and incredibly slow at refilling our drinks. We actually had to ask multiple times for another beer..this shouldn't happen when you're sitting at the bar top! I really like the food but I have sat in the dining room too and just feel like an inconvenience to the waitstaff. You can definitely tell this place is privately owned and not a corporation, there is just an unprofessional atmosphere. There are alot of tvs though, so if you've got plenty of time and don't mind waiting forever and putting up with rude waitstaff..the prime rib wrap and the sliders are killer. Pros: Food Cons: Wait time to get drinks more

Awesome Burgers, Great Atmosphere, Bring the Family 4/7/2008

My husband and I, and our two children, love K O'Donnell's Bar and Grill. Even though ""bar"" is part of the name, K O'Donnell's is great for families. If you enjoy sports, this is the place to be... HD TV's everywhere, including in the dining area, but the volume is not overly loud. The food is wonderful... you can't find a better burger in town for $8.50 (comes with a side, such as salad, fries, or onion rings - which are made perfectly and are delicious). Our son always orders a slice of pepperoni pizza... it's huge... and only $2. I've had the Teriyaki Chicken sandwich, which is also a great choice... tender chicken breast marinated in a tangy teriyaki sauce, a thick slice of grilled fresh pineapple, served on a toasted roll... served with a side, for $8.50. The service is awesome; soft drinks are refilled without asking. The owner has personally greeted us at our table on multiple visits. The servers pay special attention to kids. When my son won a Little League championship game last year, we stopped at K O'Donnell's to celebrate. The staff immediately recognized that it was a special occasion, and at the end of our meal, brought out a complimentary ""make-your-own"" ice cream sundae, with several small dishes of toppings such as M&M's, sprinkles, chocolate syrup, etc. My son was thrilled and, needless to say, we keep coming back, knowing that the staff will take care of us. They just expanded an inviting outdoor patio and we hear that they host live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. I can't say enough about this place... come check it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed. Pros: Great value Cons: None that I can think of more

Great place for lunch! 6/17/2007

Outstanding in every way. Promptly seated by a very courteous hostess, our waitress could not have been \r more attentive and pleasant, and our food was delicious. We had the daily special - prime rib sandwich. We plan to try breakfast this weekend. Pros: Service and food quality Cons: Parking more

Prompt service 2/19/2007

K. O'Donnell's is among the best bars in town for sports. With large HD screens all over, you always have the best view in the house. One of the sports? Poker. The owner is a professional poker player, having taken 21st this past year (2006) and hosts three games a week through a local league. If you like to play, this makes for a great excuse to come out and try their amazing pizza, or their grilled chicken wings.\r Don't be afraid to bring your family just because it says bar. A family atmosphere is strictly maintained in the dining area (no abusive/profane language) and there is absolutely no smoking in the dining area before 10pm or before the last customer has finished their meal, whichever comes last (of course, come May, there will be no smoking anywhere anytime, but that's different). The patio area is spacious and pleasant, the restaurant being located a long a main, but not a high traffic road.\r The staff is pleasant and attentive, the last two of the wait staff I encountered remembering what I ordered even if though it was three weeks since the first and last time they saw me. The assistant manager will often be seen in a corner watching over the room and continuing the excellent service.\r Whether it's food, fun, drink, sport, or just a relaxing atmosphere, K.O'Donnell's is the place to go. more

Good to Great Food, Average to Poor Service 2/4/2007

First of all, this is a mixed review. If I was just rating the food I would put this in the recommended to highly recommended section. I have been to K O'Donnell's twice, once I sat at the bar (and the bar is great, huge with lots of seating and lots of beers on tap) and the other time in the dining area. Both times I had the smoked chicken dinner which is half a chicken, whick is cooked in a mesquite smoker and then stuck under the broiler to crisp up before ti comes to the table - it is delicious. The food, in general, ins wonderful. The bad thing about the bar is smoke if you are a non-smoker but service is decent. However, when I was in the dining area three things stood out from a bad service perspective:\r 1. Drinks took a long time to get to the table - the server said he had asked someone to take care of us and did not happen - on top of this, the water I asked for with my beer never got to the table - ball drop one.\r 2. One of the side dishes on my friend's order was incorrect - they gave her sauteed mushrooms instead of the smashed potatoes - ball drop two - side benefit, I asked if the would leave the mushrooms and not charge us and the server was okay with this - nice semi-recovery on the ball drop\r 3. At the end of the meal my friend was still eating and my beer glass was empty. The server did not ask if I wanted another beer or if we wanted to see the desert list, just brought the check - big ball drop since this place is a BAR so it would seem logical to see if someone wanted another drink. And by the way, the dining section was not busy so there was no need to rush the check. \r So - food, recommended, at least the smoked chicken. The service, way below average in the dining section. If you don't mind smoke, stay in the bar area. Pros: Food is Great - at least the smoked chicken dinner Cons: Service in the Dining area is poor to horrible - multiple ball drops when I visited more

A terrible place to visit 4/5/2006

First off my family and I went to this establishment and found it more to be a dive bar, there was causing and gambling in the bar, very smokey and very loud. The service was terrible, especially the girls at the bar, although pretty, seemed to have no experience in the business. I do not believe I will ever go back to this place and for my own record it should be out of North Scottsdale as soon as possible. Cons: terrible food, terrible service, no ambiance more

This was a prior favorite of ours 3/16/2006

3/16/06: Waited 20 minutes to order. Could not get refills on soft drinks. Took 20 minutes for food to arrive to table and waiter did not write down half our order, hence we got 1 dinner and 1 order of wings. Sat another 20 minutes and waited for rest of order which never showed up. Icing on the cake, our server shorted us .05 cents on our change from dinner. The food we did get was less than average. Salad had lettuce, 1 cucumber, a little tomato and a little grated lettuce, not much of a side salad. The dipping juice for the french dip was tasteless! We will not be going back anymore! Cons: Poor Service, Bad Attitude in Staff, Poor Food Taste more

unreal prices 12/22/2005

a group of my friends found this mecca of a sports bar, great patio, music, drinks and service. The bartender was amazing, he was doing trivia, making all of us laugh, I think his name is rose or rosie, he is very funny, anyways, it's a great place and cheap drinks, I'm going back for more fun as soon as I get back from Christmas vacation!!!! Pros: service, prices, drinks Cons: smokey, smoke, smoke more

The PLACE to watch football! 8/29/2005

I stopped in for a preaseason game and will continue to come in for the season. I was impressed with the quality and taste of the food as well as the vast draft beer selection. They had 18 TV's with the majority of them being HD big screens. This is a great place for all sporting events, especially football. I recommend washing an order of the grilled buffalo wings down with an ice cold pint of your favorite draft beer! more

Awesome Place!! 8/27/2005

The burgers were awesome! Definitely among the best I have had. KO's is a great laid back place with a ton of tv's so no matter where you are sitting, you always have a great view. The perfect compliments to the food and the atmosphere were the 16 draft beer handles they have! The drinks are like the food, they have a lot to offer and have something for everyone! more
