Drink Local! 7/28/2009

I'm always happy to go to Java Jive, I have had nothing but positive experiences with the employees and owner, and the environment is very welcoming. It's really nice that the baked goods are made locally, either by the owner or a local bakery - I would take this experience over a visit to Starbucks any day of the week. more

Rude Staff! 5/15/2009

I don't know if it's the area they are in that makes them feel as thought they have the right to treat their clientle so poorly or if maybe perhaps their employees were just not raised right, however...the staff is plain rude. And the coffee, well...folgers out of a camping percolater tastes better. Cons: Rude Staff more

Overated Coffee House 1/3/2009

Java Jive has a large selection of coffees, smoothies and teas yet their taste is nothing above average. It is a convenient location and I think that is where most of their customers come from. Everyone always I would never choose Java Jive to get coffee if I had a choice. They have no place to plug in laptops like most other coffee houses and the pastries and sweets they sell are not worth buying. I have bought three items from their ''bakery'' and never finished any of them due to their less than satisfying taste. They have no wireless internet and the atmosphere is cramped with limited seating. The staff is friendly but does not go out of their way to talk to you or make your experience outstanding. Its a ''can I have your order, give me your money, take your drink, now go"" kind of place. Their drinks are overpriced compared to other close restaurants that sell coffee drinks- not to mention their poor quality. Pros: Varied selection, good music, bathrooms Cons: Overpriced, Crampt atmosphere, Below average tasting drinks more

WONDERFUL AND FABULOUS 2/19/2006

Java Jive is the greatest coffee house on the planet. It's got an inviting and comforting atmosphere, the staff is extremely friendly and very accommodating, and the coffee and pastries are always absolutely delicious. It is what a coffee house should be...a place to sit, drink, eat, and to have a happy relaxing time. If you want wireless access, snooty staff members who could care less, and over priced coffee and foods, go to Starbucks. Me...I love Java Jive, and I always will. I'm a customer for life!!! :o) more

try again 2/4/2006

perhaps one should read the package when they purchase coffee..it's fair trade not free trade. The coffee brewed is different daily,so unless you get a latte; it should taste different. The latte should taste the same daily assuming you order the same drink; if not, you should mention it to your barista. They may be getting a different ticket than you ordered... could be many things. But unless you tell your barista that you're not happy with it; they don't know... It is a service industry and they want you're business. They will happily remake a drink if it does not suit you. Pros: friendly staff, cool music, quick Cons: inconsistent bakery , unwatched kids more

The fastest latte, but not the best. 12/31/2005

My family walks to Java Jive with our dog at least once a week. We like it because it's close and they have outdoor seating and a dog bowl always filled with water. We also like it because it doesn't take a millenium to get your lattes. They make most of their baked goods, but that's changing as well. For now, I recommend the chocolate muffin and chocolate chip scone. For all the effort they put into advertising her son's company, ""Larry's Beans"" and free trade coffee, I wish the actual product would taste better than average. The quality varies based on the day you come in. It's definitely not my favorite latte in the area, but she hasn't lost my business due to convenience. more

User review by cheryl98456 10/27/2005

I think Java Jive is overrated. I think the coffee has no taste and the frapps are too weak, it doesn't have that umph... The pastries (scones inparticular) are VERY dry and have a bland taste. I've mentioned this to the owner about the scones being over- cooked, small in size and very expensive. Whe I brought this to the owners attention, it seemed like she didn't care and was not gonna change a thing. Plus she's a VERY rude person and would not recommened anyone going there, she's lost my business. Pros: nice cashier Cons: overcooked scones, too expensive more

I hope it improves. 9/14/2005

The Java Jive on Kildaire Farm has recently eliminated access to electrical outlets, which means customers who come in to use the wireless access are up the proverbial creek without a paddle. When I voiced concern about this I was nearly ignored and told there were no plans to change this situation. Seems wireless access is no great perk without the option of plugging in a failing battery, Idon't plan on returning until I hear they've decided to take this part of their customer base seriously. It's too bad, because it had been such a wonderful meeting place. Pros: free trade coffee, good bakery items Cons: Ignore customer needs more
