What can I say, except I'm very disappointed.  The much-anticipated arrival of Jacques Torres in my neighborhood led me to shop there for a few, last-minute, Christmas stocking stuffers.  What a let-down!  First and foremost, their prices are insane.  $4 for a tiny chocolate Santa (many of which contained bubbles, scratches, and other flaws); $9 for 9 absurdly ordinary caramels -- Kraft, anyone?  The total cost for 2 miniature chocolate Santas, 18 bite-size caramels, and a few chocolate-dipped graham crackers?  Around $40.  Needless to say, my eyes popped out of my head at the cash register.  I left thinking, ""this better be some pretty damned good chocolate!""  In a word, NOPE!  Average, average, average ... at best.
Pros:  Convenient Upper West Side location, aesthetically pleasing store
Cons:  Average quality at way, way, way too high a price
