Terrible office! 10/11/2011

I went to Jacobs, Lee and Burack for my initial prenatal care, and switched to Seton Health/St. Mary's Hospital after a few weeks because I hated both with the doctor's ""bed-side"" manner (very cold and rushed - for example, Dr. Lee warned me that I would get gestational diabetes because I gained 8 pounds the first trimester - obviously not true and I didn't - because he didn't bother to check my initial weight and height) and their high Cesarean rates - if you have an uncomplicated pregnancy and want a more ""natural"" birth, do NOT go to this group, as they push for C-sections routinely (I know several other women that went to this group and ended up with C-sections after uncomplicated pregnancies because their labor ""stopped"" after they received pitocin - Burack seems to have this happen a lot). Additionally, their billing office is terribly mismanaged - they billed me over $120 erroneously because they weren't filing with the insurance company correctly and I wasted several hours calling around to correct the fees. To their credit, they eventually understood and reversed the fees, but not before sending me to a collection agency - which all could have been avoided with a simple phone call to me or to the insurance company directly. I will not go to this office again (which is too bad, since I loved Sue, their NP!) more

Great Staff, felt rushed during labor 3/21/2011

I want to say that the staff of Jacobs, Lee, & Burack were exceptionally nice. I found Dr Jacobs to be sweet and funny. The doctors did not speak with each other well when it came to my care, and they definitely didn't speak to the neonatal doctors in regard to what was going on with my gestational diabetes. My biggest issues are mainly in the way Burack dealt with my delivery. She made me feel bad because I didn't deliver my 3rd child with in 8 hours of getting my water broken. Basically she wanted to be home by 5pm, not having to deal with me or my waking her up in the middle of the night to deliver my baby. I felt pressured to have a c-section. She didn't even have me for a patient that long before she decided I needed a c-section (Dr Lee was no longer on call at 4 pm, and at 5 pm she was telling me I had to sign the release form). Her main issue was that the baby was large, and that I have been laboring for 8 hours, being stuck at 5 cm for 4 hours. My other 2 kids were in the same size group and vaginally delivered, so I knew what she was saying was crap. If I had more courage in me, I would have fired her ass and used an attending at the hospital, or even had one of the nurses deliver my child. For normal womanly things, they were nice, but since I defied her once, she treated me hostly. I would suggest not having Burack deliver your child. more
