BBQ Perfection 3/11/2010

Jack Stack is great. Food is wonderful, service is what it should be. HOWEVER, somewhere along the line, KC BBQ decided it need to go ""upscale"" - a bbq restaurant with white table clothes??? What's the point? Jack Stack is trying to compete with KC Masterpiece and I think they're already as good or better. But they have sacrificed atmosphere for a little suburban snobbery. It does not wear well. Jack Stack must be on your must-eat-at BBQ joints, right after SmokeHouse BBQ. I recommend the Martin City location on 135th Street just east of State Line. more

Great Food! Great Value! 7/27/2009

Four of us spent a week in KC primarily to sightsee and sample KC BBQ cuisine. We visited Arthur Bryant's, Oklahoma Joe's and Fiorella's Jack Stack and were unanimous in our feeling that Fiorella's was the best of the three. Very friendly wait staff, reasonable prices, many menu selections to choose from... well worth the 30 to 40 minute wait for table seating. The BBQ ribs, baked beans and slaw were the best I've had anywhere... and I always go to at least 1 BBQ place when I travel. I will definitely eat there again if I visit KC. Good place to take the family & kids ... but there's better barbeque to be had elsewhere. 11/27/2007

My wife and I ate at Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbeque on the recommendation of some of her co-workers. We've just returned to the KC area after living in the SF Bay Area for the last 9+ years and are ready to dive into all the Barbeque we can possibly take (check out my review for Oklahoma Joe's). I won't say that we were disappointed, Jack Stack is definately better than most of the places we were able to find in California, but I still left there feeling like it's more of a family-oriented restaurant than a authentic barbeque joint. Pros: Nice place to take family or meet friends Cons: Food was nothing to go back for more

The Beans - gotta have those beans.... 11/9/2007

Ok I agree with other reviewers about the meat at this place - sometimes it can be a toss up. I grew up in KC and moved to LA about a decade ago, but every time I go home this place is a must eat spot. I've never actually eaten in - we've always ordered out and taken it home, but it's pretty decently decorated and the food is freaking awesome. Best barbeque I've ever had in my entire life!!! 8/18/2006

I went to Fiorella's Jack Stack Barbeque recently with my fiance. We wanted to try Kansas City's best barbeque, and most of the local's recommended this place. They were not wrong! I had a full plate of pork ribs w/ their own BBQ sauce; best I've ever had in my entire life! The bread pudding we had for dessert was excellent as well. I will definitely eat here again when we return to KC, and I will definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits this great city. Pros: Best barbeque I've ever had!!! more

This is one restaurant my husband and I can agree on. They have the best steaks. I love the spinach side salad. The cheesy corn or potatoe bake is also wonderful. We've never tried their deserts, because we are always too full! Pros: Food, location more

Barbecue arrived charred, fatty, sauces were mediocre at best, sides nothing to write home about. Even the staff was embarrassed about the quality of the food, apologizing profusely as we kept sending things back that were nearly inedible. Everyone in Overland Park and elsewhere raves about this place. Just goes to show most people a) have never eaten good authentic soul barbecue; b) can be brainwashed into believing the hype. I have no ax to grind, was really hoping for great Q, was sadly disappointed, and shocked people can be so naive. Pros: Staff Cons: quality of meat, sauces, sides more

I go to Jack Stack several times a month. It is a clean ""modern"" restraunt and is still able to put out a product that rivals and beats a lot of the smaller more hands on BBQ joints which is impressive. They have the best beans in K.C. (closely followed by Oklahoma Joes). One of my favorite dishes is the flattened chicken. The menu has a lot variety and there are plenty options if you wish to branch out a bit. Excellent BBQ!! 12/27/2004

Saw this joint on Bobby Flay's Food Nation and had to get there to try the beans. The baked beans are awesome. This was the most tender and best tasting BBQ I've had at a restaurant, and I've been to numerous BBQ houses throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas. I'll be making it a regular stop when going through KC. Amazingly good Spicy BBQ Sauce. more

ordered the pork ribs the first day and went back the second day and ordered the babyback ribs, I thought the pork ribs full slab were better. the beans and creamy cheese corn is the best. more

Over Rated 3/9/2003

My boss & I were looking for a good spot while in Overland Park. The hotel staff said Jack Stack is the best Barbeque in the world! We had the signiture Angus beef ribs & the baby-backs. They were good, not the best, but better than most. The waiter was outstanding, as good as any I have ever had for mid-priced food; although his runners were a bit confused. Family style ambience. Worth the return. Not the ""best"" I have had, as Virgils in NYC still holds the crown in my book. Pros: Large helpings, Friendly atmosphere, Comfortable Cons: n/a, n/a, n/a more

Fiorella's Jack Stack Is THE BEST BBQ 1/9/2003

I know barbecue. Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ is THE BEST BBQ. I live in Kansas City and have tried a lot of KC BBQ. If you've eaten there, you'll certainly know why Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ consistently wins the Zagat Survey for best barbecue houses in the country. The service in the restaurants is always outstanding, the ambience is warm, and the barbecue, steaks, seafood, and chicken are simply the best tasting I've ever had. And since they ship their barbecue nationwide, I can share this barbecue with family in Texas. I highly recommend this barbecue to anyone that desires the best. Did Jack Stack write these reviews? I have to say after reading a bunch of ten ratings, I expected a lot more. This place is nice looking, but the food is nothing to write home about. The Nation's Best 8/20/2002

This is by far not only best barbeque, but the absolute best restaurant in the nation. Nothing about this restaurant is below excellent. The meats are so tender and juicy, they fall off the fork. The barbeque sauce rocks and there small chunks of brisket in the baked beans, which are out of this world. And, if you like scalloped or au grauten potatoes, the cheesy potato bake will blow your mind. This is by far the best food anyone can ever dream of eating. Pros: Tastey, GREAT Service more

Absolutely THE BEST! 8/8/2002

Fiorella's is a definite favorite. From the barbecue beef sandwich to the onion rings and fried mushrooms with a horseradish dipping sauce, it just doesn't get any better. God bless those folks at Fiorella's!!! more
