My experience with JH Basement Finish exceeded all my expectations! Before hiring them, I called some of their references and everyone had great things to say about them. They also had great reviews, and I really liked the fact that they're a family business. Joe and his sons were great to work with! They were all very professional and talented! Joe was great at communicating the schedule with me and made himself available for all my questions through the process. They did a beautiful job! My husband and I bought our home last year and it needed a lot of work. Being new to the area we weren't sure where to start. Our neighbor recently had her basement finished and could not stop talking about JH Basement Finish Company and the amazing job they did. After seeing the work they did for my her, I decided to call them. Although complete home remodel is not what they typically do, Joe agreed to come out and give us an estimate. Joe was great! He walked our house with us, discussed with us our ideas, and even offered some suggestions. Being young newlyweds the idea of spending $53,000 was scary. I expressed to Joe my concern and he told us not to look at it like we were spending that money but rather that we were investing that money into our home. We decided to hire JH Basement and they began our job a few weeks later. We were so impressed with everyone that came out to our home. All of Joes subcontractors were not only kind, courteous and professional, but they all did amazing work! Our job included carpet and tile tear out, removal of old cabinetry, vaulting our kitchen ceiling, moving bedroom walls, removal of popcorn ceilings, texture and paint throughout, new bathtubs, toilets and cabinetry, granite installed in the kitchen, bathrooms, and on our window sills, and new carpet and tile flooring throughout our home. Everyone did such an incredible job! My husband and I have decided to refinance and had our home appraised last week. The appraisal came in for $60,000 more than we bought it for just last year! Joe was absolutely right when he told us we were not spending $53,000 but instead we were investing it! I have never been happier with a company than I am with Joe and his subcontractors at JH Basement! I highly recommend them! more

JH basement, what a great experience working with Joe and the business. They finished our basement completely in the time expected. One of the things I can say the most is that whenever I attempted to get in contact with Joe he responded right away and whenever I needed to meet with him he would be here within two hours. I recently had the good fortune of finding and ultimately doing business with a basement finishing business. From start to finish it painless. My basement was transformed from a concrete vault that had provided nothing to a beautiful area that basically increases the square footage of livable area by 30 %. . we will enjoy for years to come. As an avid viewer of ... channel, I was very wary of hiring a contractor to finish my basement. I spent lots of time researching before I decided on JH Basement. I could not find anybody with anything bad to say about JH in the last 20+ years. I am a businessman myself & I know you do not win all those BBB awards if you do shoddy work. I signed the contract to have them add 2 bedrooms,2 bathrooms & a large entertainment room. Not only were they the lowest price but they quoted the shortest finish time 6 weeks. Everything went very smoothly. If I had any questions or concerns Joe would get back to me right away and my basement turned out better than I could imagined. It flows with the rest of the house, which is exactly what I wanted. We now spend more time in the basement than in the rest of the house. I would (and have) recommend JH Basement to anyone. more

We recently had JH Basement finish our 1400 sq ft basement. We had finished two bedrooms, one master bath, one 3/4 bath, a double-sided wet-bar, home theater and work-out room. The process was professional and timely. There were no additional charges, the work process went smoothly, a lock box was placed on the door so we did not need to be be present or bothered with the comings and goings. We had our home appraised directly after construction and the appraisal increase was for more than the basement cost. We are able to recoup our total investment. Joe and his team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We had a ranch style home with an unfinished basement. The space was only partially dug out so the square footage to work with was small but Joe didn't hesitate to come out and meet with us. He was very professional, friendly, and helpful in giving us ideas on how we could best use the space. After taking measurements he came back the next visit with his design and quote for the job. We even decided to alter the original plan he drew up by keeping more storage space and Joe was very flexible in re-working his design. Joe's two sons did a lot of the framing and they were great guys as well. All of the people that came in i.e. electrician, plumbing, drywall, etc were very courteous and hard working. We were anticipating quite a bit of disruption and noise during the project but actually we hardly noticed the work was being done. I would highly recommend J.H. After looking at several companies we went with JH Basement Co. and are so glad we did. Joseph Hannah was very helpful in giving us ideas how to finish the 1300 sq. ft. project. They were able to start the job immediately and surpassed our deadline to complete the job. Every step of the way was done with very professional people. We hired JH Basement to finish our basement in January. They did a wonderful job and made it very simple for my family. We decided on JH Basement because they were highly recommended through Angie’s List and The BBB. After meeting with Joe it was an easy decision. Joe is a professional, it’s a family business, and we just knew we could trust him. Joe was absolutely wonderful to work with. We first met him on initial free estimate of the basement and within a day or two he came back with a drawing and exact price of what our basement would be. Without hesitation we decided he was the best choice. Joe let us know ahead of time step by step about the process. We signed the contract and on the start date he had his two boys over to start the initial process of framing. Before we knew it the dry wall was up and really looking like a basement. JH Basement came highly referred by a neighbor who had recently had their basement finished by them. My wife and I were completely "wowed" by the work that was done in our neighbor's basement and we knew we had possibly found the right contractor for our basement project. Our initial impression of Joe was great! Joe showed up on-time with a great attitude and creatively walked us through all the options to consider for the best layout of the basement. Almost immediately we agreed on a perfect layout for the best use of the space, with great options my wife and I never thought of. Joe came off as very honest and straight forward and never once used "pushy" type sales tactics. Joe gave us a ballpark quote for the total job and guaranteed to have a computer generated layout of the basement along with a more detailed quote within a day or two. We met with Joe a couple of days after our initial visit and reviewed the excellent computer generated layout as promised, with several other options and upgrades to consider. Joe's prices seemed very fair and my wife and I were eager to get started. Joe's team showed up in force on the agreed contract start date and within moments, hammers were swinging! Joe and his sons were excellent to work with and all the sub-contractors were top notch (many of whom have been working with Joe for more than 15 years). After framing was started we decided on a few changes and without hesitation Joe made it happen. We just completed our basement finishing process with JH Basement Finish, and our experience was very positive. We checked references prior to signing a contract with JH Basement, and those references were all positive. The initial proposal was very competitive, so we decided to go with JH Basement Finish. The project was completed on time, and the contracted amount (and agreed to upgrades) were met. No surprises at all. Our house was impacted very little by the project, and the basement itself was kept free of debris and clutter by the General Contractor and all Sub-Contractors. There were no real issues with the quality of workmanship from anyone who worked on this project. Any minor items we pointed out during the construction process were addressed immediately and to our satisfaction. I am confident that anything that surfaces post-completion will be addressed with the same professionalism. Before choosing JH I researched several other contractors and found Joe’s work was the best quality for the money. We called several of his references and even went over and viewed their basements. We made several design changes along the way and Joe was very helpful in guiding us through the process. His workers were all very qualified and did excellent craftsmanship. I especially liked the tile and granite work done and found it to be outstanding quality work! We did a theatre seating entertainment area, bedroom,bathroom, and full bar area. We even used his carpet company to finish our entire home. Joe was always available to come over and discuss any concerns and changes to the project. He was good at communicating when work was to be done, what to expect along the way, and a completion date. He helped keep us on track on our budget also which was a plus! I have already talked with him to redo our bathroom and other house remodel projects. I would recommend more

My husband and I hired JH basement to finish our basement last month. We are thrilled with their work. We have even joked about moving completely into the basement because we love it more than our upstairs, Their good faith estimate was dead on, they were on time, very friendly and professional and even built an entertainment center beyond what we pictured. I have heard many horror stories about contractors and to honest was worried to allow someone in my home for weeks at time. I was bold enough to share this with the contractor and he was very sensitive to the issue. They loaded all the materials through our basement window to ensure my carpet wouldn't have an additional ware and tare. They even used our walk out entrance instead of our front entrance to give us more privacy. I have never heard of a contractor being so accommodating. Even the contractors sons were professional. It really is a wonderful family business. We never heard them working and were even able to freely entertain friends while they were working. The lockbox on the door was nice too because we didn't have to be home for them to work. Overall I am quite impressed with this business and they even finished a week early which I have never heard of! My husband and I hope to move to our dream home in the next few years and JH basement will be one of our first phone calls. more

I called JH Basement last Monday to get an estimate. They were pleasant on the phone, answered all my questions and set up an appointment (very professional). Our appointment was for Tuesday evening at 6:30, Joe showed up on time with a lovely packet that explained everything I wanted to know about their company. He took measurements, showed me much of the work that they had done, asked me what I envisioned and then told me what was and wasn't possible due to code restrictions. It was a very pleasant and informative meeting. He arranged a time on Friday evening to come back out and drop of the proposal. To our surprise when he came back on Friday, he had done a computer drawing of our basement taking into account our wants and his past experience. He also presented us with a Cost Analysis Proposal, local references and a coupon for optional upgrade of our choice. He again was on time, pleasant and extremely professional. Unfortunately, on Monday, we found out that my job was not as secure as I thought, and I should hold off on completing the basement for now. I was so disappointed to call Joe, but he was so kind and said, when you are ready, we will still be here and I will guarantee the price I gave you for two years. I really wish we could have worked together now but look forward to working with this company in the future. more

Making such a big decision as the one to have your basement finished requires a lot of research, talking with past clients and finding out as much as you can about a company. I did all these things and it paid off!!!!! Joe came out gave us a free estimate and prepared a drawing at no charge. He was clear about would be included down to the smallest detail. He put a lock box on the door so we would not have work around his schedule. He was more than willing to work with us on any changes we wanted during construction, many of which did not even incur additional costs. Joe and his sons exemplify what we all think of in a family business, accessible, courteous and considerate. In the end, we loved all the contractors, we felt heard, and the finished project is so lovely we cannot wait for our friends and family to come over and see it. JH Basement is a definite recommend, only wish I had another basement to finish. Joe Hannah is respected even among other contractors.
