The Chicken Noodle Soup was awful. Tasted like dishwater, no flavor. Dining is extremely noisy with the busing area in the middle of the restaurant. Who needs dishes clanking a...

below average jewish deli 4/17/2008

this says it all: their pastrami doesn't stack up to jerry's or junior's, nor do their desserts nor their mazo ball soup. go to jerry's or junior's. Pros: open late on wilshire Cons: below average deli food more

Editorial review from GrubHub 2/5/2008

Always love Izzys but something really weird happens when they deliver...not sure if its the boxes, bags or what but evrything is always WET!! LIke the steam is so bad within the bag its just horrible...So all food comes wet boxes are wet so they break while eating and nothing stays crunchy...sad when you order fries or sandwiches this has happened every time and it sucks But food is great just have a few issues more

Yummy Hamburger 1/16/2008

i got the arnold barbecue burger and it was delicious and the fries were crispy and golden brown. I was so stuffed so I did not have room to try the deserts that looked amazing. Pros: Selection, quality, hours, quick more

Not too greasy if you order the right things. 9/8/2006

I don't know what it is with all of these reviews saying Izzy's is just ""okay"" or super-greasy etc. I just went there for the first time and I found the atmosphere super-cool, the wait staff among the best, and the food overall excellent. My wife's turkey sandwich was pretty simple, but good. My burger was excellent -- not too greasy or anything like that. Perfect atmosphere for straight good food. more

Late night breakfast just so-so 8/9/2006

Not wanting to drive all the way to the Strip to satisfy our munchies, we opted to go here after a night of bar hopping and dancing. Compared to other delis in LA (Nate n Al's, Jerry's, Canter's), the prices were very reasonable--I got waffles, eggs and fruit all for only like $6-7. The ol' school Hollywood atmosphere was nice and the late hours and central location to 3rd St. are great. The food was just ok--I rather go to Toi for late night dining on 11th and Wilshire. Im willing to give Izzy's another chance, but honestly, their breakfast was no better than Denny's. Pros: late night hours, atmosphere, nice servers for such late dining (and rude Cons: breakfast foods are just ok more

West-side late night 2/17/2005

I've been to this place many times - mostly after a night out. I recently tried this place when sober, and found it suprisingly decent. Definitely a better value than other famous LA's delies. The knockwurst served on a bun is a signature dish - and be sure to order some cheese fries with gravy - not on the menu, but tasty. Pros: Late night more

Not health food! 7/11/2004

We completely agree with the other reviews here. Izzy's is your typical LA Jewish deli, with the requisite large portions, greasy food, and retro ambiance. We honestly cannot distinguish any of our favorite items (Reubens, deli sandwiches, kishka) from any other LA deli's versions. We also feel that while the portions are huge, the prices are proportional, so it never strikes us as ""cheap eats"". However, like Canter's, Izzy's can be a blessing late at night when no other restaurants are open, and its Westside location is very convenient. The service has always been friendly and professional. If you know what to expect, Izzy's can be a satisfying experience. more

24 Hour Deli in Santa Monica 4/2/2004

This is one of the few 24 hour places open in Santa Monica. The food is average. But the classic LA deli feel with signed headshots of celebrities. The BUNN coffee warmers and the greasy french fries. Love it. Pros: 24 Hours more

Grilled Cheese Heaven 5/23/2002

Izzy's is a special treat in the sense that the food is really good but way on the greasy side so you don't want to make a habit of dining there. I like it because the toughest decision I need to make at the table is what sort of cheese I want on which kind of bread. Seriously folks, they're grilled cheeses are fabulous (old school, not frou-frou, and you don't have to pay $14 for them. Everything else is good as well, but I swear they're grilled cheeses are the best I've ever had. Pros: best grilled cheese, open 24 hours, street parking ltd Cons: weekends busy, valet parking more
