Great performances! 1/13/2010

As others have mentioned, the ICA is not going to take you hours to go through, making the attendance fee plus parking pricey - especially for us struggling artists who want to see what's going on. And, in my humble opinion the level to which they treat the building as a piece of art - sacrificing space that could be used for exhibition - is excessive. It somehow doesn't appear that they've gained actual floor exhibition space over their old building. But it IS a very beautiful building that really uses the ocean as part of the architecture. What most people don't know is that after hours parking is free, and the ICA does much more than just show 2 and 3-D art. The experimental/improvisational dance performances I've attended have been awe-inspiring. The lectures are really interesting and the performance/lecture space is quite intimate even when full. ICA consistently attracts extremely talented and interesting artists - and not only to their floor exhibition spaces. If you want your socks knocked off - come to the exhibitions if you like, but stay for the performances and talks. You will not be disappointed. Pros: Great views, thought provoking art, dance and performance Cons: Only family membership allows free admission more

art with a view 5/10/2009

I recently visited he ICA to view the Shepard Fairey exhibit. The exhibit was easy to navigate and take in. Located right on the water, the view of the harbor from the ICA is amazing...I can't wait to go back on a sunny summer day. more
