A++++ 6/28/2002

If I were rich I'd eat here every night. The atmosphere, the food, the people, I don't know what to rate first. I've always had a wonderful time here. Don't be taken aback by the Vegetarian restaurant heading. I've had one of the best filets ever at this restaurant. Because it's expensive I can't come here often, but I've noticed that the menu constantly changes depending what is in season. They always serve the freshest and the best food imaginable. Maybe the people that have rated this restaurant poorly are used to highly seasoned and salted foods like you find in many restaurants, but here you will taste the flavor of the food. Everone else has commented on the wonderful ambience at this restaurant, so since I am running out of space I will let you read the comments from others, but for a romantic spot this is the place. Pros: A++ atmosphere, A++ Food, Valet parking Cons: Expensive more

Unique Experience in L.A. 6/12/2002

I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. It's better to go on less crowded days, and bring a coat if you go in the evening. It can get cold in the mountains. The menu is different from most of the restaurants in L.A. I'd recommend this to those with an adventurous spirit and those who wish to take the time to relax. Don't rush this one. more

Simply romantic 6/10/2002

If you are looking for a cozy date idea that is sure to impress, this is a perfect spot. A quiet little creek cuts through the restaurant's patio and twinkling white lights set the mood. Arts lovers: pair up dinner with a play at nearby Will Geer Theatricum Botanica for outdoor Shakespeare in the canyon. more

Marvelous Setting, Mediocre Service 5/13/2002

The atmosphere--the sounds of running water from the nearby creek and hundreds of white lights strung through the trees--won't disappoint. Sit in one of the stone booths at the far end of the outdoor deck and settle in for a long, quiet meal with someone special. The food is fresh but trendy (""live"" food and vegan ""duck"") and not as flavorful as you might hope. It's also pricey. The real drawback, though, is the service. We were seated promptly enough--even though our reservation had been lost--but a wedding party distracted the entire waitstaff. We ordered wine, which didn't come until after dinner was on the table, and our water glasses were never filled, despite repeated requests. A hit-and-miss experience. Pros: Gorgeous setting Cons: Poor service, Inadequate parking more

Great Ambiance, Bad Food and Service 5/12/2002

Some friends brought me here for a birthday brunch. Two of us opted for the pricey full buffet and regretted it. The food was bland and very disappointing. Our server couldn't seem to remember our drink orders and then when the assorted coffees and juices arrived, they were wrong. Our waitress disappeared and a waiter stopped to ask if he could get us anything. Later, our waitress came by to make it clear that she was our server and no one else. After all of that, I can say that sitting outside, under the trees was wonderful, beautiful even, but the scenery didnt make up for the over-priced, lackluster food and terrible service. Pros: Beautiful Setting Cons: Bad Service, Bland Food more
