Illo Chiropractic

This man gave me my life back. I SEVERELY injured my neck whitewater kayaking. MDs gave me vicoden, steroids & muscle relaxers, DOs did the same thing neither of which would even touch my neck due to being afraid of breaking it. I tried massage & acupuncture for pain management and even saw a orthopedic surgeon who gave me injections and put me on traction. I eventually (meaning MANY years) had an acupunture appointment with one of the instructors at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine who referred me to Dr. Illo. He took a whole slew of x-rays & was able to tell me on the first visit what could be done. Unlike some of the other reviewers I did have to go see Dr. Illo a few times a week for a while and then it slowly got better for longer. I had relief from the first visit and....for the first time in over five years was able to turn my head to the left. Having finally received treatment for my injury I was excited to sit in his waiting room for hours at a time. After three months I was able to manage my injury with tennis balls and stretches. Unfortunately I moved far away from Dr. Illo or I would have continued to see him. Now I am working on getting accepted to Chiropractor school and hope to learn the techniques Dr. Illo uses so I can help people as much as he has helped me. more

My brother broke his neck in an accident and suffered with major pain for ten years before discovering Dr. Illo. Walking in the door, Dr. Illo told him what was wrong, how many visits it would take to correct the problem and then...My brother came over after his first visit and shouted...NO PAIN! After his third and final visit, he was dancing around the house screaming that guy is absolutely amazing. No frills, no hype just a great guy and doctor. My personal experience with Dr Illo is this- My neck was too straight and my c2 was out of aliment. Dr Illo is the on chiropractor that has taken x-rays before he touched me. He has the x-ray equipment right in his office. And I found having x-rays done there was much cheaper that having to go out of the office to have them done. Also the Doctor can look at them right away. My neck pain was such that I was getting headachs every day just by sitting or laying wrong or by trying to strech. After one adjustment my neck pain was 95% better. This has made a huge difference in my life. I had 2 more adjustments and the he told me to come back if I had more pain. I have not. Now this is a huge departure from the other chiropractors that I have seen. None of the had x-rays done till after 10 treatments and the other chiropractors always me coming back 2 times a week for more than a month. Dr Illo had been in practice for many years and had developed many of his own techniques. He is so different from other Chiropractors. In my experience if you have to come back to your other chiropractor to get adjusted many times with almost no improvement at least give Dr Illo a chance. I noticed the person blaming Dr Illo for the family medical issues posted on another site that they were already in treatment for major issues. I am sorry for their pain but my reccomendation is to not allow this persons experiece to keep you away from the most qualified chiropractic treatment I am aware of. My wife was completely disabled due to being rear-ended mutiple times and he has given a life again. I was referred to him by someone with a similar story and the waiting room is full and appts are sometimes weeks out all for the same reason. Read the reviews and then go see the man. We have gone to Dr. Illo for many years. When I first started seeing him, I was having headaches more days than not every week. After just a few visits, I was having them only a few times a month (usually cycle related). My husband was rear-ended and had a whiplash. He saw Dr. Illo fewer times than we thought it would take, and got great relief from the pain. After these initial visits, we only need to see him once or twice a year, kind of like going to the dentist. Pros: Amazingly proficient at what he does. Cons: waiting room time more

In response to the previous poster: I am very sorry that your husband has a bulging cervical disk, this can cause some very severe symptoms. However, I believe his MD. may be mistaken about the cause. My entire family has seen Dr. Ilo on a regular basis for 8 yrs. He helped us recover from injuries incurred in, falls, car accidents as well as, work related accidents. During this time I have known Dr. Ilo to be nothing besides cautious, compitent, and effective!
