The margaritas are wonderful too, but come early if you and your friends want to get a seat in the dining room. Tables go quickly each week at taco night.

Quick, cheap, good 12/9/2002

We were meeting friends out for dinner and a couple drinks before we headed into the city for the evening last weekend...We had a great time. Our waitress was very helpful in explaining the menu items. It was great for my friend because she really doesn't like mexican but they had a lot of other choices. It wasn't all burritos and tacos. The service was fast. It wouldn't have been a great place for a get to know you date, the food came really quick and everyone rushes around and creates a loud hum. But overall, it was a good place to meet your friends, catch up and eat and go out again. I read one of the above rating-I am not sure what happened, but we found plenty of city parking directly behind the restaruant and everyone was very friendly. Mexican to avoid at all costs 12/7/2002

We had decent experiences with Iguana Cantina in Framingham. So we were hoping for reasonable if not inspiring Mexican-American food, with friendly if not professional service, in a fun environment for parents and kids. Wrong. Slow, surly service, and food that was probably the worst we have had in the Newton, Watertown, Waltham axis. Nobody liked anything. Even the chips were stale, and salsa non-descript. Avoid it at all costs. more

I was disappointed -- the food is an ecclectic mix of Asian and latin/mexican inspired dishes, but I would not describe this as a Mexican restaurant. more

Great margaritas, okay food 10/11/2002

Iguana Cantina does have a great atmosphere. Having grown up in California and then spending a lot of time in the Southwest, it's hard to give IC a 10 in the food department. The fare is nice and it definitely rates in the good department but an enthusiastic six is all I could give it. more

A Mexican Miss 10/10/2002

This try to be trendy Mexican restaurant misses the mark. The food is ok at best, I am still trying to figure out what kind of Mexican food it was and what region it is coming from. Tex - Mex is the best I can come up with. The meals are mostly rice and beans and the main course burritto was small, tastless and over priced for what you get ..... stale tortilla chips and bland salsa to start. The atmosphere is cluttered and cheap. What are you paying for .... the service was slow. Have been there several times hoping it will get better and it doesn't. The food was very good, but the service was horible. We only saw our waiter twice and had to wait 45 minutes when we were finished just to get the bill. Pros: GOOD FOOD, FUN ATMOSPHERE Cons: BAD SERVICE, NO PARKING more

OVER RATED 9/18/2002

Being from the Southwest, I had to try this for my self..it appears that ones that voted this a great please have never eating southwest food, in my opinion, it should be on the ""worst"" lists. ~ call it anything but mexican food. more
